A Civil War story set in 1863 of Jennie Wade, who was shot and killed by a sharpshooter's bullet while baking bread for Union soldiers and her childhood sweetheart, Corporal "Jack" Skelly, who was mortally wounded at the battle of Carters Woods.
This was hard to shelve as it is somewhat fictionalized in the conversations that happened but not the events. I have had the honor to see the author 2 times this year as a costumed speaker. Once as Tecumseh, an Ohio Native legend, and more recently, as Jack Skelly along with a woman who played Jennie Wade. He recited the letter that appears in this book while in character. Keep a box of tissues handy.
