A history of Central Texas. This is the story of Central Texas, and communities and settlements in the counties of Travis, Bastrop, Hays, Burnet, and Williamson. Interwoven with the history are stories of folks who are familiar with the flavor and the folklore. These people and the places they pioneered all reflect the traditions of their times. (From the book jacket.)
Enjoyable. A bit confusing at times. For the most part the histories are given through interviews with old-timers in each community. Interesting stories. The narratives wind back and forth a bit. It's a bit like sitting on the porch under the kerosene lanterns and listening to the grandparents share their stories.
