“Another can’t put-it-down book by Pete Palamountain.” “Superbly written, intriguing, fast moving.” “This town will draw you into its secrets.” Violence in Triplicate in Garvey, California, a small town at the foot of Mt. Baldy. • Suicide of a wandering derelict. • Murder of a wealthy matriarch. • Murder of a charismatic Catholic priest. Is there a common factor? Are the three deaths related? Is there more violence to come?
Police Chief Duffield (Duffy) Lear and newspaperwoman Matricia (Mattie) Lee team up to find out.
And Egypt Rosen, Mattie’s P.I. friend from neighboring Covina, lends a hand.
Born in Orange County, California. Grew up in Covina, about 20 miles east of L.A.
Started writing in the sixth grade. I passed my stories around to the other kids in the class. I've never gotten over the sheer pleasure of watching them respond. I still feel the same way. When one of my books today causes someone to laugh or cry or think more clearly, I experience the same pleasure I did as a boy.
This was a decent read. Interesting and nothing earth shattering but I will definitely read another book by this author. The characters were interesting and the the book mystery was great.
A cozy mystery, a reporter/sleuth concerned about personal health issues, and a sheriff with romantic intentions investigating 3 local deaths.
The eccentric characters of a cozy are represented in the names of various characters, i.e. Deputy Swicegood, Mayor Walkup, and the initial impression by the reporter that Sheriff Duffy is small-town/small-minded.
Overall, an enjoyable read relying on the suggested power of logic.
I still can't decide if the character Egypt Rosen (Egypt Rosen Chronicles was used to introduce this as a possible spin-off and new series that the author never capitalized on.
Really enjoyed this book. Had all kinds of plots, and qwirky people. Lady moves to a small town, and bought the local paper. She gets involved in solving a series of murders.
