Includes: - Goodnight Kiss - Goodnight Kiss 2 - The Vampire Club
Cruel Intentions meets The Vampire Diaries in this sexy packaging of a classic vampire duology from bestselling author R.L. Stine.
In this collection of three fan-favorite stories, the vampires of Sandy Hollow crave the summer months. Summer means plenty of beach tourists…and plenty of fresh blood after months of deprivation. But this year the Eternal Ones have decided to spice things up with a little bet: The first to seduce a hot date of the human variety, and then turn him into a fellow creature of the night, wins.
The catch? In order to successfully turn their prey, they must take only three small sips of blood on three different nights. If they take too much blood on any night, the human will die and the bet will be lost.
The setup sounds simple enough, but things quickly get complicated—especially since each vampire is just dying to quench her thirst...

I read these books back when they were first published in the early 90s, still in grade school, I fell in love with the covers and R.L. Stine Fear Street series. Thus my love of vampires and all things paranormal started, I was hooked I remember waiting to get my allowance and begging to be taken to the book store so I could spend said allowance picking up various Fear Street books. I was obsessed I even scoured our library in town, a local branch for everything Fear Street, I read everything he wrote. As a middle grader and very young adult I thought they were wonderful, I still do. I buy every one of R.L. Stine works, I have a great deal of them that I'm sorry to say are in horrible condition as I still to this day reread them, my favourites that is.
Temptation is a commutation of 3 of the fear Street Super Chillers 1992, 1996 & The Vampire Club which I think came out in 1996/7.
Please remember these books were written between 1992-1997
This book featured Fear Street's "Goodnight Kiss" and "Goodnight Kiss 2", as well as a (very) short story called "The Vampire Club" that I'd never read.
Wow. I really didn't remember those two books being as lame as they were! Every time I read the word "nectar" I almost busted a gut laughing. I didn't think it was possible for these vampires to be any cheesier than they already were, but then they'd throw out the "So thirsty! I need the nectar NOW!" and I was proven wrong.
The second one is actually better than the first in my opinion, and has more of that classic Fear Street twist. The vampires were still lame, though.
The short story at the end did make me laugh, though. Crazy old R. L. Stine.
PLOt = Thirsty vampires one game, you need to take three sips of blood but you can't kill the person. Its summer and vampires are getting really really hungry. Characters = Jessica = I love books with my names in it lol, I love her and she is one gorgeous vampire that is innocent on the outside. I love how snarky she is and she is similar to katherine in vampire diares. I love her bet with Gabri. Gabri= the hot handsome dude, he is a vampire and I love his relationship with April there are some times in the book where it gets to some crazy level and I was like ooh dang!! April = the innocent girl but I am glad to see her love for Gabri but her ending was kinda sad. Diana = I love this name character and I don't really love her ending but it was great. Others = I love all the short stories it was awesome! Every one of the stories make me love each character more and more! Cover = I love the cover and the back description is great!!
Temptation by R. L Stine was a very interesting book. The way it started off was something really new and different to me. It wasn't like the other typical "vampire" books i knew about. The two vampires in the very beginning of this book did not even know that the other one was a vampire. They were both going on a date to drain their date of blood, only to find out that the other was trying to do the same. I thought that was quite comical in a way. Along with this though, the book is not really the mushy type of romance book. It is and its not. It starts out with a game. Who could charm a human and then drain their blood and turn them into a vampire. This took skill and a lot of restraint in the book. I thought it was a good book, it had humor in it, death, horror, and love as well. I recommend it because it is something different than the rest.
This book, oh my goodness, this book kept me up for hours on end. I'd spend the extra time I had in class reading; just being completely addicted to what I had in my hands. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a mind for good books. It will keep you up at night; wondering what is going to happen next. I'll admit, I'm not one for vampires but that's what made this book amazing. Everyone should get a chance to read it.
This book features 3 stories. 2 long and 1 really short story. The first two are related to each other, though no clue how much time is between them. Both stories feature vampires (or Eternal Ones) who do a bet to make the summer a bit more exciting. Story 1 features 2 vampires, and story 2 has 3 vampires. In story 2 someone from story 1 makes an appearance, well actually the whole story is about her. I must say I absolutely hated Billy, well I hated him, until the ending though, when the big revelation happens.
The last story: Vampire Club, was funny and silly, a typical Stine story. A guy moves over from his school to another, only to be dragged in a vampire club. He wants to impress a girl there (damn he really changed quickly.. first it was Kelly, Kelly, and within a day it is Nan. *sighs*Boys... I really liked that. :)
So far, I didn't really like how the characters switch between each other. It is quite confusing to go from female to male, to male to female. I have had to re-read some parts before I knew who was talking.
Also the nectar bit, was a little bit lame. I was like, wait they want blood, do they not?
Goosebumps, Goosebumps, Goosebumps. R.L. Stine is known for Goosebumps, and when I saw this at the bookstore, I’m like “He wrote a teen book? Cool beans bro.” So I obviously picked this up and couldn't wait to begin it.
Vampires are probably the cheesiest things to write about these days, I’m sick of reading about them. It’s always the same thing in every single book, like how far can you go with this subject? Let me tell you, not that far at all.
This is about the known vampires, the cheesy ones found all through literature that need blood to survive and have mini cults and stuff and weird traditions. Almost like Twilight, but really, Twilight was cool, unlike this.
The “story” had no sense to it. Ouu, only three sips of blood or else the humans will die? What is this, Vampire Superheroes?
The story was really boring. I didn’t find much interesting except the romance that occurred every once in a while. I. Wanted. Something. Better. Is that hard to ask for?
Nectar? Ahaha, don’t kill me from rolling on the floor laughing. It’s so hilarious to see these old-school vampires come to life in this three-part book. The short story at the end wasn’t even bearable to read. Ugh.
Well forget about the bad things, I mean, there had to be some good in this, right? Aha, guess what, there really wasn’t. I don’t know if it’s just me because I’m “a teenager and born into the new generation,” but this was way too cheesy. Things have changed, and are going to keep changing, and if you’re sick and tired of vampires as much as I am, then slide this book away from you.
I gave this book two stars because the story itself was just so confusing and boring. The second one (Goodnight Kiss 2) was especially confusing. Why and HOW did Diana pose as her cousin April? (April was in Goodnight Kiss) Why did April kill herself? Did she really hate being a vampire or something? Also, why did April KILL Matt, her so-called boyfriend? Because she was "thirsty"? It was just too busy and all around the place. Billy, the main character in 'Goodnight Kiss 2' wants to kill the vampires because he witnessed his girlfriend being killed by vampires. His friends are being seduced by girl vampires and he tries warning them. In the end, he finds out April is actually her cousin, Diana and he reveals that he's actually a vampire himself, and that he just wanted revenge on the vampires for turning him into one. Then he kills Diana for nectar in a restaurant. Then the book ends. LIKE, WHAT KIND OF ENDING IS THAT? This book was just really stupid in my opinion. No more vampire books for me.

Why in the world did I buy this book? It must have been the cover. Anyway,Temptation is read like a children's book. I grew up on R. L. Stine loved most of his earlier works, when I was around twelve years old. The problem with this book, is that it's written for a very young audience I am thinking from ten to fifteen.
As an adult that has read her fair share of great horror books, this attempt at a vampire tale by Mr. Stine was horrible. I want my money back!
I wish I could say that I loved this book but honestly by the second half I expected the supposed "shocker" and I was right. it was still a good read though.
this book is amazing action adventure its one the best books i have read so far cause i dont read much at since i'm 11, this book gave me everything i look in a book like wow .
When I was a kid, Fear Street books were my absolute favorite thing. They made me love reading, and love horror. And vampires. And creative death scenes. After reading a book I didn't particularly care for, I decided to re-read something familiar to me to wash the taste of bad book out of my mouth. Then, I remembered that I had this one. I've read it, but not in this current edition. I was hoping it would stand up to the tests of time, as I haven't read these books since high school. It didn't let me down.
Temptation is in fact three stories in one. It contains Goodnight Kiss, Goodnight Kiss 2, and a bonus short story called The Vampire Club. Each of these GK books has been published individually as Fear Street Super Chiller books, and they've also been published in a different anthology edition. But during the Twilight-y vampire craze, it got a more modern look, and I'm here for it. I recommend reading the books back to back, but they are able to be read individually too.
These books are the perfect amount of nostalgia for a 90s kid like me. It's a familiar feeling, because I've read so many of his books, when I read an RL Stine story. They're easy to read, yet they're not lacking in creativity or details. I swear, RL Stine comes up with more death scenes than anyone else I read. I appreciated the notes that WEREN'T nostalgic when I read it the first time. It's a "contemporary" book, in that it's set in the 90's. So, no cell phones. There's wrist watches. He gets his film developed at a photo store. It made me so happy and reminiscent, and for that I'm grateful.
The characters are relatable. Well, as relatable as vampires can be, I guess. There's quite a big cast, but they're given enough attention that you can differentiate them all, and they're all given unique looks and personalities.
And then of course, the vampires. They're the old school kind. The ones that don't sparkle. They turn into bats. They sleep in coffins with the dirt of their homelands. It was so nice to read a vampire book where no one is googly-eyed in love. They're kicking vampire butt and taking names. (Let's ignore that Gabriel, a vampire, is the first "book boyfriend" I remember having. I loved his dark features and his really overly dramatic vampire speeches. Puberty is weird, okay?)
The short story at the end is a nice little bonus. Like an after dinner mint for the vampire bloodbath that's taken place for the previous 400 pages. It's quick and to the point, and features different characters than the previous two works in this collection. If Goodnight Kiss were a TV show, this short story would be the bit that happens dramatically before the commercial.
If you remember reading Fear Street or Goosebumps; you should read this. Prepare to crave an Ecto-Cooler, some Gushers, and that really cool Creepy Crawlers lab kit that made candy bugs and slime (that I never got for Christmas, I might add). If you like vampires that are more traditional and more cheesy, like I do, these will be right up your alley.
Boy howdy I remembered very little plot wise and that's because there's barely any plot to begin with. Goodnight Kiss 1&2 are littered with inconsistencies and plot holes. Truly a logistical nightmare. I'm not even going to touch on The Vampire Club because it's really just a super short spooky story unrelated to the others.
I want to begin with asking, how old are these vampires even supposed to be?? The humans they're preying on are literal teenagers and it feels super icky. I know it's not really that serious but I was too uncomfortable with what was happening to let it slide.
The whole April-Diana thing was stupid too. "She couldn't get over having to hurt people," yeah whatever! She seemed to have no difficulty preying on Matt at the end of book one. Don't get me started on Billy either. An unreliable narrator hates to see me coming to call out their inconsistencies.
I will be unhauling this book now.
1.5☆ Rounded up

This book was very interesting. The way it started off was something really new and different to me. It wasn't like any other basic "vampire" book I've read before. The two vampires in the beginning of this book didn't even know the other was a vampire. They were both on a date in interest of draining blood, when it came to them as a surprise that the other was doing the same. I thought that was pretty funny in a way. I thought it was a good book, it had humor, death, horror and love as well. I recommend it because it is something different from the rest.
I was excited to read this book due to R.L Stine being the creator of my nightmares as a child! I've got to say, this book was alright. It was interesting to have it broken up into multiple stories, but it felt like he ran out of time or was getting sick of writing some stories and just threw an ending it. It was like hitting a brick wall.. In two of the stories, one of the main characters ended up being a vampire - after the first time, the endings should've changed. On the last story "Vampire Club" I was actually surprised.
All in all, I liked the book. It is good for a rainy day.
Temptation: Goodnight Kiss, Goodnight Kiss 2, and the Vampire Club.
It's a long and hungry winter. It isn't until the summer months that they really get to feed. The vampires crave the summer months with plenty of tourists to feed on. This summer they decide to spice things up, a competition among a few vampires, who will be successful.
I honestly was hoping for something more geared towards adults but this seems to fall in line with R.L. Stines traditional teen reads. It was okay. 🌞🌞🌞 (3/5 Stars)
The title of the book is Temptation, made by R. L. Stine. This book is a Horror book where there is an abandoned island that was taken over by bats.. Or so they thought were bats. Every summer, these bats urge to go to their nearby island, Shadyside, which is full with people and make people go missing. In my opinion I liked this book a lot, it was very interesting but at the same time keeps you on your toes because of its rising action and how the book details every person and makes plot twists. In conclusion, I rate it 4 stars out of 5 stars.
The Vampires of Sandy Hollow Crave the summer seasons plenty of beach tourists and plenty of blood after months of not drinking blood. The Eternal ones make a bet the first to seduce a date with a human and then turn them into a Vampire wins.
In order to turn their prey, they have to take three small sips of their blood on three different nights ,if they take too much blood and kill a Human they lose the bet.
The bet may sound simple but it's very complicated especially when the vampires are dying to quench their thirst.
This book contains three stories: Goodnight Kiss, Goodnight Kiss 2 and The Vampire Club. I really enjoyed the first story but as they progressed, they got worse. All-in-all this book is a "teenage vampires at the beach" kinda jive and it was just okay. Really quick and easy to read simply because it was very basic. Basic plot (same for the first two stories) and literally NO character development whatsoever.
I’ve loved RL Stine and Fear Street since I was a kid. I remember reading Goodnight Kiss when I was a preteen and had no idea there was a second one. It was just as good as the first. Especially the plot twist. The icing on the cake was the short story at the end that definitely deserves its own book.
3 stars is a little generous… purely getting that rating because it was a super easy read and a nice nostalgia kick. Very light hearted and funny “horror” set of stories that had the classic Goosebumps vibes. I had kind of assumed when I picked it up that it was going to be a satire on Twilight, but then realized it was written in 1992! So perhaps Stephanie Meyer was a bit influenced herself :)
this book was so bad I can't. cheesiest thing I've ever read. I barely finished it, the characters were so basic the plot was so simple it could have been shorter. also Nectar? really. this book was lame I didn't enjoy it at all
Another quick comforting read from RL Stine, these books always remind me of grade school and how much fun reading can be. I love that he releases longer books for those of us who still love to dive into one of his monster stories.
Yep, this is pretty much the equivalent of reading a longer Goosebumps novel as an adult. Very basic everything; plot, characters, vocabulary, and just writing level in general. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ll always love R. L. Stine, but he should stick to kids books.
I will never rate anything by R.L Stine badly. All of his work just reminds me of reading the Fear Street series by him when i was younger. Its not the best writing but I always have a blast reading anything by him
