प्रकाश नारायण संत आणि लंपन ह्यांच्याविषयी मला एका सोशल साईट वरच्या चाहर्चेतून कळले आणि उत्सुकता चालवली. जरा मग वनवास आणि बाकी ३ पुस्तकांविषयी त्या म्याड गुगलला विचारले आणि चक्क पुलंचा अभिप्राय. मग वनवास वाचायला घेतले आणि चक्क त्या म्याड लंप्याचा फॅनच झालो. जवळपास एका बैठकीत म्याड सारखं वाचून काढलं आणि वाचताना आपोआपच माझे शालेय दिवस डोळ्यापुढे उभे राहत होते.

चक्र का काय ह्या कथेमध्ये त्या लंप्याला त्याचे म्याड मास्तर कविता म्हणत सहज बोलून जातात की, 'आताचा जो तुमचा आनंद आहे तो तुमच्या आयुष्यातला खरा आनंद आहे. तुम्ही मोठे व्हाल तेव्हा हे सगळं हरवून गेलेलं असेल. मग फक्त....' हे ऐकून लंप्याच्या डोक्यात नेहमीप्रमाणे चक्र फिरत राहतात आणि त्याला स्वाभाविक प्रश्न पडतो की मग मोठा कशाला व्हायच आणि तो बैचेन होऊन जातो आणि त्याची बैचेनी वाचून आपल्या ही पोटात खड्डा की काय पडतो आणि गंप्याला सांगावंसं वाटतं की अरे बाबा भविष्याच्या चिंतेत आताच्या आनंदावर बोळा फिरवू नकोस म्हणून!!! ह्या पुस्तकाशी एवढे आपण गुंततो.

गंप्याला एका कथेत जेव्हा बराच ताप येतो आणि तापलेल्या अवस्थे भास होऊन त्यांनाच खरे मानून जे बरळत असतो त्याचे वर्णन एवढे अप्रतिम की माझी तापलेली अवस्था डोळ्यसमोरून तरळून गेली.

पु.ल. म्हणतात त्या प्रमाणे ह्या कथा एकदा नाही, दोनदा नाही १५७३ वेळा जरी वाचल्या तरी त्या ताज्याच वाटतील. अगदी खरं आहे हे!!!!!

खुप सुंदर.... लंपू च्या mad नसलेल्या mad जगात आपण सहज वावरतोय त्याच्या सोबत असं वाटतं पुस्तक वाचताना ... किलवर एक्क्या सारख्या तोंडाचा बोका ( कसलं भारी वर्णन आहे हे :)), तेविसशे आठ गोष्टींची लंपन ने केलेली सतराशे साठ पारायणे आणि त्याची असंबद्ध विचारांची सुसंगत "साखळी" ... सगळंच अप्रतिम!

Vanvas is a gem from Marathi literature. Lampan and his short stories will take you back to your mad school days. The curiosity about the world while growing up is very well penned by Prakash Sant. Beauty in simplicity and with great details are the take aways.
Oajhh and Chakra are my personal favourites. Happy reading :)

प्रकाश नारायण संतांचं वनवास म्हणजे चपखल उपमांचा आणि अचूक वेधक वाक्यरचनेचा सुंदर मिलाफ आहे. पौंगंडावस्थेतल्या मुलाचं भावविश्व इतकं सुरेख जमून आलेलं आहे की, प्रत्येक कथेसरशी मला माझ्या लहानपणीच्या काही गोष्टी आठवल्या. आपण मोठे झालो की अनेक गोष्टी काळाच्या ओघात विस्मृतीत जातात. 'वनवास' सारखी पुस्तकं आठवणींचे ते पदर हळुवारपणे मोकळे करत जातात. ह्याबद्दल संतांचे आभार मानावे तितके थोडे.

लंपनच्या किशोरवयातला कालखंड उलगडताना, त्या कालच्या समाजाच्या सहजतेची आणि नात्यातल्या गोडव्याची पण नव्याने ओळख होते. कुठलाही अभिनिवेश न राखता असणारी मैत्री, अगदीच अर्धा घटका टिकणारी लुटुपुटुची भांडणं आणि थोडंसं उपहासात्मक, खोडकर असूनही कुठेही कुत्सित न होणारं, एकमेकांच्या जवळिकीनं, आपुलकीनं राहणारं गाव आपल्यासमोर लेखक उभं करतो.

आपण मोठं झाल्यावर पुनःश्च जुन्या आठवणींमध्ये डोकावून त्याच निरागसतेला शब्दात बांधणे सोप्पे काम नाही. परंतु वनवासातील प्रत्येक कथेत योग्य तो भाव आणण्यात लेखक कमालीचा यशस्वी झाला आहे.

योगायोगाने हे पुस्तक वाचून झाल्यानंतर सिटी ऑफ गॉड पाहण्यात आला. ह्या पुस्तकाचा गोडवा आणि त्या चित्रपटातल्या मुलांच्या आयुष्याचा विचार केल्यावर अधिकच गोड वाटला. हे संतांचं माझ्या वाचनातील पहिलंच पुस्तक, आता नक्कीच त्यांची अजून पुस्तकं वाचली जातील हे खरं

This book is a treat to the readers who ofter indulge in their childhood memories…Lampan’s curiosity about everything and way of looking at things is just portrayed amazingly in this book…Also, Lampan’s feelings about Sumitra are beautifully expressed in this book and I love that, he is not quite sure what he is feeling but reader finds it very interesting,relating and satisfying….Just an amazing book to indulge in the villager life of Lampan.
Also the pain of staying away from his mother and father in such an early childhood age and how it is dealt by the tiny curious mind is brilliantly illustrated in this work…

After a long wait for the book. Finally I got it and just finished it. I am expecting much more from this book. There is no doubt the life and innocence of Lampan portrayed in a very good form. However, it is not that intriguing , I found shala and Dunayadari more absorbing and I can imagine same scenario in my life while reading both the books. But with vanvas ,the level was not even near. Although comparing Shala and Vanvas is not my intention, but expectation of mine not satisfied.

The book, set in a quaint town, warms you with sweet experiences- sometimes silly, sometimes mundane at other times peculiar. The author's childhood memories are often close to our own.

The stories are so refreshing that no matter how many you read you will feel like you have read it already. The Story revolves around central character "Lampya" who is living with his grand-parents and walks the reader through his adolescence life using stories.

एक अत्यंत भावनिक आणि निरागस लिखाणाचा अनुभव!
साधं, सरळ आणि सहज लिखाण पण एवढं हृदयस्पर्शी आणि अस्वस्थ करणारं
लंपनच्या चिमुकल्या दुनियेचं अद्‌भुत दर्शन करत असताना कित्तीतरी गोष्टींनी आणि वाक्या��नी डोळ्यात पाणी आलं.

A Maaaadddddd book....Lampan & his story in a typical kannada-marathi tone surprisingly captures your mind. Since most of the parts in the story could be easily related to your childhood so it becomes most enjoying experience. The book contains around 12 short stories & all of them reveal Lampan's mind & his little thoughts towards his small world filled with mom/dad/his little bro & sister, his grandma/grandfather, his village, his school, his friends & all the neighbourhood....

The entire series is must read for anyone who is looking for some good stuff in marathi literature.
Its a world of "Lampan"(the growing kid) and his world in village.
I loved the writing style of this author. He has kept it simple to its core. Simple yet very beautiful characters make you fall in love with them.
Its for every age group. In case you are parent read it out for your child.

लंपनच्या दृष्टीतून त्याच्या आसपास घडणाऱ्या घटनांच्या मस्त कथा. लंपनची अनोखी कल्पनाशक्ती आपल्याला खिळवून ठेवते. थोडी वेगळी भाषा, वेगळी शैली यातून बालपणच्या निरागस, भाबड्या जगाची सफर करवणारं एक सुंदर पुस्तक.
