A short story by William Butler, author of the novels Bang and The House of Balestrom. Jean had it all planned out on how she was going to get Linda out of the house before, Kevin (the controlling father) gets home. It doesn't work out as planned when a terrible storm hits the town trapping the three family members in the house while they wait it out.

He moved around a lot as a child living in various places such as NY, GA, FL, VA, until his family settled back in NC, where he lives now. He runs the blog Bang Noir and writes articles for examnier.com. His debut novel, Bang, a noir suspense novel, was published in December 2010. His other works include: The House of Balestrom, Time of the Season, Smoking Gun (the sequel to Bang) and Agatha Christie inspired novel Nine to Dine.

Not a whole lot to say about this short story - picked it up because it was free, not sure it was worth the time taken to read however.

Only reaches poignancy in one moment, the rest is poorly written 'told not shown' prose and P.O.V. that zips around haphazardly.

My gut feeling is this is an authors attempt to capture traumatic subject matter and succeeding only in creating melodrama.
