I love the whole premise of this series of sex toys prompting some very hot sex scenes to bring a couple together. It's even better when long time friends go a step farther and become lovers. John Ramos and Caitlin Hagerty do that and realize they each can have a fuller life together than apart.

Author Cerise DeLand has, without a doubt, the most amazing talent with words! In A Long Time Comin', Caitlyn Hagarty has had more than just "friendly" feelings towards her best friend, John (Ram) Ramos, a sexy member of the Delta Force. Caitlyn has bought some sex toys and has decided that the time has come for her to seduce Ram, but little does she know that Ram has the same idea. When Ram comes home on leave to attend his sister's wedding, he goes to the one person who has always been able to calm his nightmares, best friend Caitlyn. Ram inadvertently spots the sex toys on Caitlyn's bed and sees his chance to try them out on her. After a hot weekend, Caitlyn and Ram are both stunned to learn that their feelings are running deeper. This scares Ram because he does not want to hurt Caitlyn in any way and being emotionally scarred by his military endeavors will eventually cause problems. Caitlyn is confused by Ram's reaction. Will Ram allow Caitlyn in his life as more than just a friend or will he run and grieve the loss of the only woman he will ever love? Can Caitlyn convince Ram that she will always be there through the good and bad times? This is a wonderful "friends to lover" trope!

I’m a sucker for friends to lovers stories, there’s just something so intriguing about a couple who has known each other for years, practically grew up together and then BAM, it hits them that they see this person in a whole new light. While I adore love at first sight stories, and I enjoy adversaries to lovers stories, friends to lovers hold a special place in my heart. A Long Time Comin’ by Cerise DeLand is an excellent example of this type of story and it also proves that just because you’ve known someone a really long time doesn’t mean you always understand everything about them or what they are going through. I found this story to be special because of the bond these two share but despite that bond, things aren’t easy. Sometimes you hurt those you love the most because you feel you must because you never want them to suffer the way you assume they will. You think you have their best interest at heart but you forget you aren’t letting them make that choice. Yes, being friends doesn’t always make being lovers easier sometimes I think these relationships are harder because you care so deeply about the other person already.
Caitlyn Hagerty and John (Ram) Ramos have practically grown up together. Their parents are friends, Ram’s sister is one of Caitlyn’s best friends, plus two of their siblings are married so yes this is one big happy family which means taking that step from friends to lovers can create all kinds of problems. However Cait has promised her friends she’d make her feelings known the next time Ram comes home on leave. What she doesn’t know is that Ram has also pledged to change the parameters of their relationship.
While Ram tries to tell Cait how much he’s wanted her and needs her she goes on thinking he only sees her as a friend, so things start off a little bumpy for these two. They soon regain their footing and hot damn do they share some amazingly sexy moments. I like that neither one of them is afraid to let the other one know just how much they’ve wanted to move their relationship forward. What Ram refuses to do though is make a commitment because he is career military, special ops, and he doesn’t want to cause her any undo pain. He just doesn’t realize he’s doing just that.
These two despite being great friends have some big issues to overcome. Even though this is a novella, I felt the author did a good job of sorting out the issues and steering them back to their happily ever after. Their relationship is definitely A Long Time Comin’ but in the end, the journey they took was well worth it and I very much being a part of it!

Over time, Cait has fallen hard for her childhood friend, Ram. So she decides to show him her true feelings with a planned seduction using the bag of sex toys she bought for the occasion. What she doesn’t know is his plans for their reunion closely resemble her own.
The characterization was finely and expertly done in this sweltering hot tale. Cait is a likable, gutsy heroine anyone would love to be. Ram is every woman’s dream. This big, hot bodybuilding hunk is a dominating force of masculine personal presence who dresses up real nice. Together the two make a powerfully exciting couple.
This story was written exactly as it should have been. Ms. Deland included every element necessary to make it fun, continuously interesting and fiery hot. I loved the descriptively elegant way she defined every scene, making for a high quality eloquent read that bloomed in my imagination. Reading this hotly romantic tale was a joy.
A Long Time Comin' is fun and fulfilling. It is also a sensitively told, well-rounded tale with depth and complex emotional elements. I was impressed with how she incorporated the toys into the story in an original and poignant way. Here are a couple of examples of Ms. Deland’s superb skill and artistry: “Her hope ran like a river of joy.” “She was grinning like a cat in a kid’s cartoon.”
I have everything good to say about A Long Time Comin’ and highly recommend it to all.

Fun read in the friends to lover category. There some bumps on the way to love but I can them surviving and having a HEA.
