I remember reading about Texas in an Illinois grade school and thinking I probably would never see the great state where real cowboys ride their horses to work every day and everyone wears western hats and boots. Then again, I never dreamed I would elope in Gibraltar with a Navy man who hailed from the Lone Star state. But here I am, smack dab in the middle of Texas, still married to the same wonderful man and boasting not only the greatest daughter on the planet, but three dogs that are as big as long horns.
In between grade school and now, my journey through life has taken me all over the United States, as well as many places throughout the world. Using my travel experience as a guide and peppering in interesting characters I’ve met along the way, I love nothing better than weaving tales of romance and leaving readers yearning for adventures of their own.
OMG...I really liked this story! Gianna and Colin are good together(and Colin is Scottish too which is always a plus to a hero in my book). There's some difficulty with they're dreams syncing up but I liked that in the end with a little compromise they were able to be together and still achieve they're dreams. I liked that aspect of the story very much and was happy for them in the end of the story. :)
I saved this story in the Toys 4 Us series last because Gianna Romero, the heroine, is the one responsible for all the others finally getting the men of their dreams. You see, Gianna is the sex toy peddler in this series. She has no problems talking about sex or selling her wares, in fact she’s good at it. But, this part time job is just a means to an end. She has a big goal and she doesn’t mind using her sex toys to help her achieve it! She convinced herself she doesn’t need or have time for a man much to the dismay of her neighbor, Colin McPherson who is bound and determined to change her mind.
I really admire Gianna’s drive and ambition. She plans to open her own restaurant without help from anyone including her meddling but well meaning family. Colin is at a crossroads, having made a decision to return to his native Scotland he can’t help but contemplate the ʺwhat ifsʺ he has in regards to Gianna. Though they’ve dated a few times she’s held him at arms’ length, but he knows he wants more from her and he knows he must act quickly or lose her forever.
I immediately fell in love with Colin as I’m a sucker for a man with an accent and add in the Scottish ancestry and yep, I’m sold. I give him a lot of credit for continuing to pursue Gianna even though she insists she doesn’t want a relationship. I like that he fully intends to help Gianna with her dreams even though if it’s in a different location. He knows how important it is to her and he wants nothing more than to help her achieve them. While I admire the heck out of Gianna, she’s a little tougher to like. While I completely understand her goals, I hate when women think they must give up their personal life so they can be successful professionally. Men never think that way but women do, why is that? I enjoyed watching her realize she could possibly have it all and while she gave me a little heart attack at the end of this book, I’m glad she finally realizes she can have it all.
While this book is short and the relationship between Gianna and Colin moves at a rapid pace, I couldn’t help but love it. The absolute passion these two share for wine, food, and sex with and without toys makes this one fantastically enjoyable book. I really hope Brenna revisits these two, I can see a whole series taking place in Colin’s family’s B&B in Scotland.
With everything to gain and everything to lose, how does she choose? Can she really have the man of her dreams for ‘just one night’?
Next door neighbors, Gianna and Colin have shared a few nice dates but it’s always ‘hands off’ for Gianna who insists on keeping her life simple, and that means no men. She’s intent on saving enough money to start her own restaurant business to the exclusion of all else.
One night Colin, who has fallen hard for Gianna, discovers her little sex toy business first hand. All bets are off when Colin notices the heated reaction she has for him when she sees his excited blazing hot response to her small business. He seduces Gianna into allowing one night of passion together.
What she doesn’t know is that Colin is about to sweep her off her feet and make her an astounding proposition. How will this fiercely independent woman decide whether to go with her plans or her heart?
Ms. Zinn has made the handsome Colin an irresistible character, indeed. I felt the angst and tension of Gianna’s looming decision with sympathy. Private Showing is also an energetically scorching tale, filled with the very toys that begin the action.
I loved this description of Colin: “…handsome as they come and hot as a griddle.” That sums up this enthusiastic lover perfectly!
Though a little short on plot, I enjoyed the tale for its simple romantic and erotic flair. I recommend, Private Showing as a very happy little read.
