Stunned after the death of her parents, Chiara Manti left her home in Italy to go to the Scottish Highlands to visit her grandfather. There, to her surprise, she learned that her grandfather intended to leave his home, Castle Eyrie, jointly to Chiara and her sort-of cousin Campbell Roberts -- rather unfairly, she thought as the castle was Campbell's home after all. But Campbell was less concerned, apparently, than she was and he decided that the solution to the problem was for the two of them to marry. Without, of course, consulting her. Which was a pity, for in other circumstances she would not have been altogether unwilling. But now, of course, wild horses wouldn't make her accept him!
Bought this new as it was published. No book cover shown in goodreads at this time. I have a photo of the UK book cover version but not able to show this here. Shows the characters in winter clothes and cover has the 1980s white background around the picture.
This I think was her last publication as Lucy Gillen although she may have had a couple published as Rebecca Stratton. Lucy Gillen died the following year 1982.
