If your children liked the Alfie books by Shirley Hughes, they will like this too. It's a slightly less-polished version, with sketchier (and more charming, I think) illustrations, featuring an older girl and her younger sibling, who is as annoying as Annie-Rose, and ends up trashing his sister's fifth birthday party, but eventually things work out in the end & Nancy has her party after all.
