Highly recommended for anyone interested in early to mid 20th century musical/artistic circles. There's a lot in here about his collaborations with Gertrude Stein and it's an interesting look at the career trajectory of a composer/music critic whose work basically spanned the entire 20th century.

As an aside, letters make good bathroom reading.
