This is a great collection of stories that appeal wonderfully to 7-year-olds. The stories full of magic, many of them classic stories and many of them unfamiliar but exciting, captivated my children with every reading. I loved that the versions of these fairytales and stories were not dumbed down, but full of rich, descriptive language and elevated vocabulary - far more than one might expect for a book labeled specifically for 7-year-olds. Because these are not written for them to read, but are written for them to hear, the writing didn’t stop them from comprehending and fully enjoying the stories. Tone and inflection often helped put unfamiliar words and turns of phrase into context, though there were instances I needed to reword or explain. The length of the stories are varied, with some quick ones and others that felt a bit long.
