Syncronicity [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchron...] is a Jungian concept in which "two or more events which occur in a meaningful manner, but which are causally unrelated. In order to be Synchronous, the events must be related to one another conceptually, and the chance that they would occur together by random chance must be very small."
I personally find the title as being "unfortunate" but the content really useful especially for those facing life choices and changes.
For example, Richo's Graceful Exits Have Dignity, lists important things to consider in looking at life change: •I give much more than I receive. •I do more and more and see the success of less and less. •I feel that I am giving up something rather than giving and receiving something. •My health is suffering because of the stress of staying. •Even what I once like doing —and can do well—is now flat, stale, and uncomfortable. •I am no longer effective •My bliss and enthusiasm are gone. •I no longer come up with creative ideas or even see alternatives. •I have been doing too much for too long for too little appreciation. •I work on changing things but nothing gets better. •Things keep going wrong and never quite right themselves as I am left with my finger in the dike. •The same ineffective pattern keeps repeating itself. •Money or prestige has become my central or sole motivation for staying. •I do not move on because I am afraid to risk a change. •I have no assisting forces encouraging me to stay.
This was a tough one to sit down and read, mostly because of the sheer amount of material in it. Take one page of a David Richo book and you can come up with 8-10 different paths you could investigate further.
This book is wonderful. "Unexpected Miracles, The Gift of Synchronicity and How to Open It", is written by a Ph.D., David Richo.
The book is filled with stories and examples, and by engagingly combining insights from psychology, religion, and poetry, Unexpected Miracles shows how synchronicity -- a meaningful coincidence -- works in our daily life, in dreams, and in our imagination. It helps us not only to recognize a synchronicity, but to cultivate these wonderfully unexpected and perfectly normal spiritual events.
I had heard about synchronicity, but I never really knew what it meant, until I began to read this book. Dr. Richo is a gifted writer. He takes this concept and brings it to full life. His work is thorough, creative, and thought-provoking. His intellect and humor run through each page as he explains what synchronicity is, giving poignant examples you can recognize and relate to from your own everyday life.
I've learned that when we recognize and say "yes" to these "unexpected miracles," we begin to further awaken our spiritually, grow psychologically, and even better understand our true purpose in life.
I had an excellent time reading this book. It opened my mind up to many concepts surrounding synchronicity I feel were there but dormant. Quite enjoyable and an excellent jumping off point for further research on many different related topics! I savored every page of this one.
This is about synchronicity. Don't really know what I think of it, but I don't reject it out of hand. I have had a few coincidences in my life. It seems well enough written, easy to read.
