For best-selling romance novelist Jillian Grayson, writer's block is a thing of the past now that her clandestine relationship with her son's best friend, Brian Nash, has lifted her out of a post-divorce funk. The prospect of breaking the news to her son seems daunting, but it's nothing compared to the nightmare of meeting Brian's superstrict, off-the-wall, disapproving parents. After Jillian, Brian and his younger brother Jim, learn an eye-opening secret about the Nash parents they all go scurrying back to Miami where Jillian's best friend Victoria finds Brian's sexy, but innocent college senior brother to be just what the doctor ordered. But when Jim comes on a little too seriously, will Victoria lose interest and return to her life of casual fun or will things get even more complicated?
Secret Thoughts is the second book in the Victoria Wilde series. And although the stories are connected, they can be read on their own and book two is a great introduction to the hilarious and complicated world of Jillian and Victoria.
Ian Dalton is the Kindle-bestselling author of the Victoria Wilde novels, which feature strong, sexy female characters -- women who seize every opportunity for fun and don’t let a little thing like age stand in the way of love or passion.
Dalton brings a fresh perspective on the "erotic romance" genre -- seamlessly working it to the max while poking just a little harmless fun at it along the way. His work has gained fans around the world who have proclaimed his books as "must reads," "mind blowing," and more.
One of Dalton's specialties is capturing the intense desire between an older woman and a younger man who are completely crazy about one another, but are desperately trying to squash their feelings. He brilliantly explores the passionate thoughts floating around in their heads as they pine away. The result is steamy, tender, often funny writing at its best.
However, Dalton's greatest creation is the incomparable, fan favorite Victoria Wilde. The character has emerged as a life-savoring heroine, with readers around the web asking, "What would Victoria do?" We're not always sure but we know it will be fun!
If you enjoy romance stories with flirty banter, steamy sex, and some hilarious escapades as the guy tries to convince his love they’re meant to be, you’ll enjoy Ian Dalton's books.
Dalton has also released many of his books in a less explicit form under the pen name Luke Young. If you'd like a little less heat with your sex comedy, be sure to check out Young's Friends With…Benefits series. So here I was, sitting at Wicked Girls Book Weekend author event, totally mesmerized by all these authors that I seriously fan girl over, when someone introduces me to Ian Dalton/Luke Young. To be honest, I had never heard of him. So of course, the introducee explains that he writes these extremely erotic, oh so amazing books and I of course was like "where do I sign up?" Funny thing was, at the author event, I won a signed paperback book of "Friends with Partial Benefits" by Luke which is the not so racy version of his Victoria Wilde Series.
Trinity told me that she has read the first book, Inappropriate Thoughts, and as much as I was the one for steamy, I needed to get on this soon! So, that's how I began my extreme love affair with all things Ian Dalton!
The second book, Secret Thoughts, thrusts Victoria into the spotlight when Brian's brother comes to town. After Brian and Jillian make a trip to Brian's house so the parents can meet her, Jim, Brian's brother begs them to take him with them. It seems that their parents have a strict moral code that the boys lived by with no locked doors, no privacy of any kind, which doesn't allow any time for them to "explore" their natural urges. So everyone heads to Miami, where a young virgin Jim is introduced to the world of Victoria, a sexy hot minx who studies sexual therapy and knows more positions, moves and has more sexual ideas than I ever thought possible. Victoria and Jim spend an amazing amount of time together and Jim begins to have very strong emotions for Victoria. However, she doesn't trust herself with him. Being cheated on just before your husband dies, has really turned her world of relationships upside down. Will she choose happily ever after or not?
MAJOR Cliffhanger! Don't start if you don't plan to read the whole series. Generally, a good book. Steamier than the first Victoria Wilde installment. All story lines are "to be continued. . ." Love these characters, but come on--can't something, for someone, be resolved in each book. I like series with books that overlap, but I'm getting tired of serials.
I loved "Inappropriate Thoughts", so it was no hardship to read "Secret Thoughts" to see what happens next. I had mixed feelings about this one, though, and I'll tell you why. I have not read much erotic romance so I have limited knowledge on some of the kinkier stuff that happened in this book. Particularly the anal bit. It was in the first book, yes, but this book seemed to center around it. Almost overkill. I don't get the whole obsession with the backdoor. At first I was disgusted. Then curious. Finally, accepting. I don't prefer that stuff, but the characters did, so okay. To each his own. It helped that it was written in a believable and practical fashion. Mr. Dalton is very skilled and keeping things less wordy but delivering the characters layers at the same time. Another thing that highly perturbed me. I know some will disagree, but I am partial to Jillian rather than Victoria at this point. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I just want to say Victoria's habit of not using a condom made me queasy. She is sleeping with all these men, I know. She is living life to the fullest, embracing her freedom, moment by moment. But please have some respect for your body dear, and use caution. Also, the guys who did it with her knowing her lifestyle and not having a rubber themselves, that seems to make me think they really don't respect her or themselves much. Oh, and one last major bitch here: At the end of the book Victoria seems clueless about a major life change. Uh, Ditzy much? Okay, now that I'm done bitchin' I guess you are wondering why I gave this book such a high rating. Well, this is a hot and funny series with characters who go through stuff, but it's not like a soap opera. The writing is simple, funny, and entertaining. I am looking forward to the next book. I highly recommend!
The next installment of The Victoria Wilde series, Secret Thoughts finds Brian Nash excited and relieved that Jillian Grayson has excepted his wedding proposal but is soon worried she might just back out after meeting his somewhat crazy parents that are more that just a little skeptical about this woman who they are sure is corrupting their son. Luckily, she also gets to meet Jim, Brians younger brother that she quickly embraces as family and brings him home with them to enjoy the kind of privacy every young man needs. Victoria is trying her hand at dating a man that needs her guidance in the bedroom but soon turns her attention to spending some carefree time with Jim who shares an instant attraction to her as well. Dismissing the idea they could have more than great sex in common, they go their separate ways when Jim returns to college. But neither one of them can completely erase the connection that grows between them when they both have to move on. The characters that Ian Dalton has created are fun, sexy and highly entertaining. Following this continuing story becomes addicting with twists you don't expect and great sex that's intense and imaginative. I am now committed to reading the rest of this series and if you're looking for a hot and humorous read, I recommend Secret Thoughts.
I was really looking forward to reading this story after enjoying Inapproriate Thoughts a story that was both sexy and humorous, with interesting characters. However this installment IMO had a number of implausible scenes and the author seemed intent on teaching the reader how to successfully have anal sex, suck both balls at once and enjoy giving numerous BJ's.
It was a bit of a stretch of the imagination when Brian discovered his parents "secret" given how judgemental they were of Jillian.
My biggest problem with the story (this is a personal gripe) was that Victoria broke a promise she had made to her best friend and then of course had to hide it from her/deceive her. I so wish the author hadn't taken that route! Bestie's should NEVER to that to each other.
The good - Ian writes a VERY descriptive story so it does pull you in (good and bad, lol) and he is able to throw some good humor in. The scene with Brian and Rob in the bedroom was halirious.
This book picks up immediately after Inappropriate Thoughts. Jillian has left Brian's proposal unanswered but quickly we have a resolution.
This book covers a lot of ground. We are introduced to Brian's horrible, bible thumping parents and his younger brother Jim. Soon Victoria is back in the picture and just as entertaining as before. Also making an appearance is Jillian's son Rob.
These books are great. There is a plot, but really, there's a lot of sex. Mostly sex. Hot, uninhibited sex. A definite page turner for sure. The character developments are engaging though so I'm hooked to see what happens next.
Slight cliff hanger but there's no wait to jump to the next book. Yep, I'm jumping right into Revealing Thoughts right now to continue this journey with this horny bunch of characters.
This is another book from the same author which literally grabs you from the very first page and never lets go. It is an "Adults Only" book, so you are should be over 18 to enjoy it. The relationships in this book #2 are a continuation of book #1 by Ian Dalton. The affection and respect which is shown by the couples and their friends for each other is something everyone should aspire to. There are a couple of new twists and turns introduced in this book about some of the characters which I cannot wait to read in the next book. Again, this is such an exquisite book which keeps your attention and makes you want more and more.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
This is the second book in the series, and I have to admit, I was a little lost in the beginning. To get the most out of this book, I would recommend reading the first book, then this one.
This book explores older female leads falling in love, or lust as the case may be, with younger men. One of the women is in a committed relationship, while her friend searches for something she just can't quite put her finger on.
The stories of each woman are realistic and resonate with the reader. As a reader, I found myself rooting the characters HEA and where ever that may lead them.
I absolutely loved this book!! It starts off strong and never lets up throughout. I couldn't read fast enough with wanting to know what happend next LOL. The characters are well written, the pace is steady from beginning to end and just when you think you know what is going to happen you'd be surprised to have this author change it up and pull you right back in! I don't want to give away any spoilers so I will leave off saying you MUST read this book ;-)
Another winner in the series and I have to get to the next one immediately! These characters are so fun and sexy and I have to know what happens next. I haven't been this into a series since I started reading Kristen Ashley books! The sex scenes just keep getting sexier (he's big on oral and very big on technique!), and the stories keep getting more interesting. I love reading books like this!
The second book of the series. This begins with Brian anxiously waiting Jillian's acceptance to his proposal. The best part of the book is their trip to Delaware to meet Brian's very interesting and extremely religious parents and his younger brother Jim. Jim quickly becomes one of my favorite characters in the series and starts to rake a pivotal role.
Ok, seriously one of the funniest books I've ever read. I about lost it during the sene in the keys. I couldn't read because I was laughing so much I was crying. Still love Jillian - And Brian is really growing on me. Off to get the third installment.
If you have the series Friends With Benefits by Luke Young, you don't need to buy this series. It is the exact same series with a different title and different author name! I really liked the book but felt like I was cheated because I bought both series!
another absolutely brilliant book. had me in stitches and the verge of.tears for both laughter and love.couldn't put it down, I finished it in 4hrs. cannot wait for the next one!
Wow, interesting to read the 'dirty' version. Not sure which I prefer but they are both easy reads and have that slightly different edge as they're written by a chap!
