Classic Hendricks with wit and wisdom on marriage and family.
"He gave the boy a portion of his mind he couldn't really afford to lose."
"Years ago I saw an ad for a product which read, 'We couldn't improve our product so we improved the box.'"
"I am concerned the world is more eager to hear our message than we are to deliver it."
"There was never a feast without a sacrifice."

I wanted to read this after hearing many radio preachers reference the impact Prof made on their lives. I could tell he was someone to listen to! I enjoyed the personal stories and felt generally encouraged with the real-life examples of the life-changing power of the Gospel. Nothing earth-shattering but a good, encouraging reminder.

Moderately encouraging book about sharing your faith and loving others well.

Poignant Quotes:

Has it ever occurred to you that love is the greatest positive force in existence?

We must share the message of God's life to others in such a way that they can communicate it to others.

I find that the more love I show a person, the greater the impact I have on his life.

Right words must be translated into action to have value with God.

Some are not ready to hear you now, but tomorrow or two weeks from now they may be hurting so badly they are going to be searching for answers.

Show me a person with a passion to communicate, and I'll show you a person who will learn how to get the job done.

The press of time makes more critical the need for busy Christian workers to get alone with God and their Bibles for spiritual renewal.

Young Christian need to know that they aren't alone in feeling inadequate.

I have found that the closer I get to an individual, the more influence I have on his life.

You train a man in proportion to the confidence you have in him.

You should be exposed to significant people and their ideas - and you can experience this through reading.

I have learned to keep my mouth shut when around great people, except to ask questions...

I believe spiritual survival also demands a heart sensitive and responsive to God.

What was uppermost in the mind of Jesus Christ in the training of His disciples? I think it was their trust in Him.

People are watching us to see if our words are real. Our message and our lives are inseparably related, so the closeness of our walk with God will determine how effectively we communicate His message.

The greatest reason for failure in marriage is unrealistic expectations.

All of my counseling in marriage and family problems can be categorized on the basis of these three situations: failure to truly leave the parents; failure to cleave to the one partner; or failure to develop a unified relationship.

If you really want to gauge the quality of your spiritual life, check your love dimensions. Not how often you read the Bible, not how much Scripture you have memorized, but whether the people with whom you are living regard you as a lover - a person refracting the love of Christ which he sheds into your heart.

If you're trying to change your partner, stop! Instead, ask God to change you.

Every day I get up I have to fall in love afresh with Jesus Christ.

To me, the poorest representative of Jesus Christ is the Christian who doesn't know what it is to enjoy life.

There are two kinds of people I love to hear pray. One is children, and the other is new converts. Their prayers are so refreshing and so honest.

Perhaps one of the reasons Christians do not witness today is that many of us have lost confidence in the power of the Gospel.

Application:
Love God
Know God
Be Like Christ
Make Disciples
Love others - do less and leave more margin for the sake of being with others
