Rate this book
Ariel is a seventeen-year-old girl whose life takes a completely different turn on the day she comes late to school. There's a new, very handsome, dark-haired boy, Devin, in her class, but to Ariel's surprise everyone seems to know him, and her best friend claims he's been going with them to school for years, except Ariel is sure she has never seen him before. Convinced her friends are messing with her, Ariel pretends nothing weird is going on. She even considers the possibility of having a brain disease ... until she starts having visions of unknown people with wings and unusual eyes.

What's worse, her visions hint that Devin might be a demon who came to the human world to take an angel to Hell. As she becomes more and more aware of the existence of angels and demons, Ariel finds out her sister is the angel that the demons want to take. Determined not to let anyone harm her sister, she will do anything, even try to kill the demon on her own. But can she really kill Devin when he appears so human, and what will she do when she reveals the secrets surrounding her true nature? Because, let's face it, a girl who can see both demons and angels in her visions can't really be human.

A young adult urban fantasy/paranormal romance.

I REALLY enjoyed this book! I loved how Alycia jumped right into the plot of the story, I was sucked into this world she created from the first page in. The writing style is different but yet simple which I really loved because she gets straight to the point and the action. The characters are well developed and didn't need more description then what was already given.

The Plot:
When Ariel comes late to school she notices that they have a handsome new student in class named Devin. When Ariel starts questioning Devin's arrival to her school everyone tells her that Devin is not a new student and has been going to their school since her freshman year. Ariel thinks she is going crazy and upon Devin's mysterious appearance Ariel has started to have weird visions of people with wings. As her visions start to become clearer, Ariel learns that their are demons who want to take her sister Christina to hell. In order for Ariel to protect her sister she must seek out the people in her visions and find out what the demons for hell want from her sister. Ariel not only has to save her sister but she also has to save herself as she finds out a secret that will change her life entirely.

I liked the twist Alycia put on Heaven, Hell, and Earth. It's really original and think that everyone will respect that not everything is what it seems. I <3 Ariel! She was such a strong character and did everything she needed to do for the people she loves, and thats my kind of character! I'm really hoping this will be a series which it probably isn't but can be(Hint Hint!) but the ending let my mind wonder a bit which was fun. I recommend this book to everyone especially the Para book lovers, it's a quick easy, fun, and heart tugging read.

I want to give a special thanks to Alycia for being so kind, I really enjoyed this book and hope you write more!

"When I decided to read Human, I was determined to read it chapter by chapter, due to the lack of free time. However, soon after I started reading it, I realized it was impossible to read a single chapter and stop. I just had to read it all at once, and I absolutely enjoyed it. Alycia's writing style is simple, yet interesting, which is only one of her many assets. There is no annoying gibberish between the scenes, no unnecessary descriptions. The action runs smoothly from the beginning right to the ending, not too fast, not too slow. There is no time to get bored there.
Here’s a little about the plot. Ariel is a seemingly average 17-year-old girl, who one day comes late to school. Upon her arrival, she realizes there is a new student in her class, a beautiful boy named Devin. To Ariel’s surprise, everyone seems to know Devin, except her. Even her best friend, Italia, keeps convincing her Devin’s been their classmate for years. Disturbed by the inexplicable memory loss, Ariel is convinced she must be suffering from some kind of a disease, until she starts having strange visions of people with wings and unusual eyes. Soon, Ariel starts thinking Devin might be a demon, sent to Earth with a mission – to bring an angel to Hell. As her visions get stronger and clearer, she finds out that the angel who is supposed to be taken is none other than her sister. Determined to protect her sister at all cost, Ariel even considers murdering Devin. However, as the story unfolds, she uncovers a secret about herself. Doing her best to keep her sister safe, she finds herself caught in between, forced to choose from the two people she loves.
Another great thing about this book is the fact that Alycia goes beyond the stereotypes of how heaven and hell are usually described. Not everything is peachy in heaven and not everything is horrifying in hell. I would also like to mention who my favorite character was. I’m referring to Devin. I have to admit he was breathtaking. Just the type of character I instantly fall in love with – rugged, broken, damaged and absolutely beautiful.
I am also very proud to say that Alycia is one of my closest friends and that I’m very happy she published this.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone who likes a good and interesting plot and well developed characters."

It doesn't matter if a story/concept/premises is interesting or a book has good characters, if a writer is unable to communicate/connect with a reader then I just can't enjoy a book at its fullest. Well this book was very well written, sure there were minor editing errors but nothing too obvious. Of course it wasn't the best, but from a standard point, an unknown author and I'm guessing self-published, I thought it was very good and I was surprised by the quality of it all. I also like the message in this book: We are between Demons and Angels, We are Human.

When Ariel gets to school, she notice this new guy in her classroom, everyone else seem to know him even her best friend. She's even written a composition with his help, So why can't Ariel remember that or him? She find out that Devin's been in school with her for three years now. This must be some tricks or she's gone spycho! because now she's having dreams like visions of some type, of beautiful people with wings and flashing eyes. Demons? or Angels?

Human was quick, fun and a cute read. The author comes straight to the main plot of the story. The writing style is different but yet simple which I really loved. I liked the twist that the author put on Heaven, Hell, and Earth. It's really creative and original and I think that everyone will respect that not everything is what it seems. Ariel's character was funny, strong and brave and she did everything she needed to do for the people she loved. Although her thoughts were soo humourous that they made me laugh and smile throughout the entire story. Overall I'm glad I read this adorable book filled with a little drama, romance and definetly humour.

“How dare he call me while I was plotting his murder?”

"Some girl lent it to me." He smiled and pushed the cell phone towards me with his long fingers.
Lent? Yeah, right. Maybe I should be happy that he didn't want to take mine. I sighed and started explaining the basics to him, thinking how funny it would be to actually receive a call from Hell. Cell phone service providers would have a lot of trouble figuring out how to charge that one, or they'd simply slap the highest price possible.

"I know the animal, but this is not alive. And it's smaller." He actually poked it to prove his theory.
I tried to take it from him, but he lifted it up above his head. Maybe he wasn't really tall, but he was still taller than me, and I couldn't reach it.

"It's a toy!" I said, frustrated. "Just give it back to me. It's mine!"

"Oh." He handed me back my plushie, but he didn't seem too happy about it. "You can keep it?"
"Hey, just because most people think toys are for kids doesn't mean they're right!"

Ariel is an average seventeen year old girl or so she believes. One day she s late to school and notices a new student named Devin. When Ariel asks questions about Devin everyone tells her Devin has been in the school since her freshman year even Ariel’s best friend Italia. Ariel had even written a composition and Devin helped. Then Ariel starts having visions of people with wings and strange colored eyes. Ariel starts thinking Devin may be a demon sent to take an angel to Hell. As the visions become clearer there are demons who want to take her sister Christina who is a full angel to Hell. In order to protect her sister Ariel must go to the people she sees in her visions. Ariel even thinks of murdering Devin. Ariel is the result of an angel and a demon so she is half of both Ariel goes to Hell in the place of Christina. But the king of Hell Maliadades still wants Christina also. Ariel finds she is falling for Devin. Maliadades said he will torture Devin everyday that Ariel is gone Cristina was taken to Heaven where no demons could hurt her but she wasn’t happy there.
A new twist on a demons and angels story. I like the way the author wrote this story. I felt bad for Ariel being torn between her sister and Devin. I also loved how Ariel tried to go to Hell in place of her sister Christiina even if it didn’t really work the way she hoped it would. Wow ½ angel ½ d3mon that could not have been easy. I loved the twists and turns in this story and I loved the characters. I also liked the plot a lot. I recommend.

I had the luck to get this book downloaded for my Kindle while it was free on Amazon.com. I trully enjoyed it; I did have some issues with the way some sentences were phrased, but aside from that, I really liked the story. I've read books with angels in them and demons, but not one where the main character was the result of a love between an Angel and a Demon; she's half and half. When Ariel finds out that that Demons want to take her sister (who is FULL Angel) to Hell, she'll do anything to protect her and keep her away from them and safe - even if it means taking her place and going to Hell herlself. She finds that her Angel side comes out while being in Hell, (wings and all) and she is falling for her sort-of kidnapper, Devin. Although Ariel went to Hell in place of her sister, the king of that place, Maliadades, still wants her to bring her sister, Christina. Maliadades tells her that if she doesn't bring back her sister, he will torture Devin every day she is gone. So, he lets Ariel go to find her. Chistina has been taken to Heaven, where she's safe from other Demons coming for her, but she isnt happy there; misses her 'Human' life too much: parents, her sister Ariel, her friends, even school.

While I'd like to go on to tell the rest...you'll have to read to find out! I would really, really love to read a sequel to this book and find out what's next for Ariel, Christina, and Devin. Please write another book. Thnx =)

There's no tedious preamble with this story, it jumps straight to the point with 17 year old Ariel turning up to High School thinking she must be in the Twilight zone when everyone remembers spending the last 3 years studying with a stunningly gorgeous boy Devin but her.
Are they playing a prank or is there more to it?
Very few editing errors and had a natural dialogue flow which was comfortable to follow.
Great twists and turns in the tale with easily distinguished characters being good or evil, but then the story is about Angels and Demons after all.
Very good YA paranormal fiction suitable for all readers. Hope there's a second book to come!

This was an enjoyable story that was hurt by editing issues. There were additional words, improper tenses, and odd phrasing throughout the book. The story on its own merits was not bad, it was just hard to enjoy when I would have to reread a sentence because it didn't make sense.

Very enjoyable original story. I liked the characters, especially Devin. Good, strong female protagonist. I had some issues with mistakes in grammar, but not enough to make it totally frustrating.

If I found out a hot guy was going to try to kidnap my sister and drag her to Hell, no way would I think about how "human" and "handsome" he looks.
