Back in high school, Gabrielle Coombs had her future planned out, down to the perfect groom and the marriage proposal on graduation night. Instead, she ended up sharing one unexpected night of passion with Caleb Wells. Fifteen years later, the boy from the wrong side of town was back-now an irresistibly attractive single dad in designer duds who was making Gabby wonder if she'd been given a second chance to land her Mr. Right…Ever since they were kids, Caleb knew Gabby was the only one for him. She just didn't realize he was the only one for her. Now the devoted father of a ten-year-old daughter had a to convince the irrepressible hairstylist it was time for a major makeover…by becoming his loving wife!
It was a good book. I particularly like the ending, Caleb said his own version of Jerry Mcguire's words and I found that heartwarming. This is a good book for persons 30 years and older.
For some reason I had put this book off for awhile. But I totaly enjoyed reading Caleb's Bride. I like that Gabby's family is close and they open their hearts to Caleb so easy when he need them in his youth. Gabby had taken over her grandfathers barber shop. She was now ready for a change. Gabby signed on to a cruise line to be a barber. For years Gabby has had a crush on Dean but he just got married. She realized that she need to change her life so she selling the barber shop and got new job. Caleb's family were drunks and in fact he was the first to graduate from high school and go to college. Caleb first went to Gabby's family farm when he was 12 and was invited over by her brothers to play. He was so impressed with their mom. She made them a stack of sandwhiches for a snack and made them wash their hands. Caleb was lucky to have one meal let alone snacks. He was over to their house a lot during those years. That was where he learned that he wanted a family and what kind of one. In high school he sat with Gabby and ate lunch with her and her friends. One 4th of july at park Gabby decided to tell Dean how she felt. But Dean home from college brought a girl to the park. Gabby was so upset she went off by herself and cried. Caleb went to her and was comforting and they made love and after Gabby avoided Caleb and would not talk to her. Now Caleb was moving home and bringing his ten year old daughter. He was still attracted to Gabby and her family too. Was surprised to learn that one night experience was all that Gabby had. Caleb started courting Gabby and he knew she was moving in a few months time. Gabby was a big help with Caleb daughter. It was a cute romantic story. I liked the characters. I just enjoyed reading it. I would read more books by Wendy. I was given this ebook in exchange for honest review.
Caleb's bride was a refreshing tale about a boy that really loves a girl into his adult life. Caleb sees beyond who Gabby thinks she is into the wonderful person that is inside.
I enjoyed this book because of the real love that seems to be between the two. I liked that it wasn't just instant lust that grew into something else. Caleb was already in love with Gabby when he started pursuing a relationship with her. I really enjoyed watching him woo her in the story.
Gabby isn't the usual character because she doesn't struggle with insecurity about Caleb. She struggles with her own perception of herself. I felt that made her more real to me as we have all questioned our decisions at one point or another.
Overall I give this story a 4/5 and would definitely recommend it.
This story, Caleb's Bride, was very warm with its hotness.
The heroine, Gabrielle "Gabby" Coombs, is holding out for true love while not understanding that her idealizations don't allow her to experience the real roller coaster ride of love.
A hero, Caleb Wells, who is extremely caring of his beautiful special needs daughter and his adoptive family. A man who knows how to deal with the things that life throws at you with positivity and honesty. The supporting members add so much to this tale.
If you are looking for a realistic outlook about love and trust and not a fairy tale of how love is usually portrayed, this book by Wendy Warren is wonderful!
This was a cute little love story. Sometimes it is sad to think that people spend so much time apart because of things that could have been worked through.I was really rooting for Caleb and Gabby. Both were characters you cared about and wanted the best for. I liked that Gabby allowed herself the opportunity to spread her wings before settling down. It showed maturity on her part. I think everyone would enjoy this sweet story. This wasn't one of the clean Harlequin books. It did have a sex scene and sex was discussed several times. Nothing too graphic but it was there.
This new installment in Wendy Warren's Sweet Home Honeyford series is chuck full of Ms Warren's trademark charm. Lovely. Inspiring. Gabby and Caleb will wring your hearts. Very hard to put down. Can't wait for the next book in this heartwarming series.
