Dr. K.N. Ganeshaiah is an agricultural scientist and professor at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. He is also a novelist specializing in thrillers, and writes in the Kannada language.

Prof Ganeshaiah has pioneered a new style of writing novels and short stories in Kannada that seamlessly mixes facts and fiction in the form of thrillers. Through this style, his writings have captured a new generation of readers in Kannada contributing to the growth of story writing in Kannada.

Though an agriculture scientist, his novels and stories bring to the reader, the lesser-known and hidden facts of history along with science. Some of
his novels are also aimed at bringing the most complicated elements of science to the general reader.

Recognizing the novelty in the style of writing, he was awarded Kannada Sahitya Academy Datti Award for his novel Kanaka Musuku, which combines both history and science. As some experts have inferred, his thrillers have drawn a large number of new readers to Kannada.

In recognition of his novel contribution to Kannada Literature, Prof Ganeshaiah has also been honored with the Honorary President of Kolar District Sahitya Parishat during 2013

Prof Ganeshaiah has written Nine novels, and 41 short/long stories (in eight collections) and over 63 essays in the areas related Science and Society. His recent book Sasya Sagga on the wonders of plant life as told through his own journey in the field of botany and evolution has attracted your readers. Several of his novels and stories were serialized in Kannada Weekly Magazines

Very much like the author's other books that I have read (ಕನಕ ಮುಸುಕು & ಕಪಿಲಿಪಿಸಾರ as on date), combining History with Fiction. Shorter than both though.

The sequence involving Sarala entering and exploring the cave at midnight gave me chills, only to be overshadowed by the haunting and gruesome Kalyan's video sequence from the other side of the cave.

ಆಪರೇಷನ್ ಪೋಲೊ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಓದಿದ್ದೆ, ನಿಜಾಮನ ಆಸ್ತಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೆ, ಆದರೆ ಇದೆಲ್ಲರ ನಡುವೆ ನಡೆದ ಒಳ ಸಂಚುಗಳು ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನಿಜಾಮನ ಆಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಕಣ್ಣು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ಹೊರ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಗಿಸುವುದು, ದತ್ತು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದು ದತ್ತು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಹೆಸರಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಆಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಬರೆದು ಅದನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ನಿಜಾಮನ ತಂತ್ರಗಳು, ಇನ್ನು ಅದೆಷ್ಟೋ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಕುರುಹುಗಳನ್ನು ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಬಹಳ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯನವರು ಹೆಣೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

'The Last Nizam' ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಓದಿದವರಿಗೆ ಈ ಕಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿನ ವಿಷಯಗಳು ಹೊಸತಾಗಿ ಅನಿಸದಿದ್ದರೂ, ಕಥಾಹಂದರ ಕುತೂಹಲಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯನವರ ಇತರೆ ಪತ್ತೇದಾರಿ ಕಥೆಗಳಂತೆಯೇ ಈ ಕಥೆಯೂ ಮೂಡಿಬಂದಿರುವುದು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗಿನ ಏಕತಾನತೆಯನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ಕಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ವಿಷಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದು ನೈಜ, ಯಾವುದು ಕಾಲ್ಪನಿಕ ಅನ್ನುವುದನ್ನು ಓದುಗರೇ ಊಹಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಿದೆ.

ನಮ್ಮ ಶಾಲಾ ಪಠ್ಯ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ತಿಳಿಸದ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯ ನವರ ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಿಂದ ನಾ ತಿಳಿದೆ. ಹೈದೆರಾಬಾದ್ ನಿಜಾಮನ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯ ಬೇಕೆಂದರೆ ನಾವು ಓದಲೇ ಬೇಕಾದ ಪುಸ್ತಕ. ಪುಸ್ತಕಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾಕೆ ಈ ಶೀರ್ಷಿಕೆ ಅನ್ನೋದೇ ನಿಜಾಮರ ವಂಶದ ಒಂದು ರೋಚಕ ಕಥೆ. ಪುಸ್ತಕದ ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಕೆಲವು ಫೋಟೋಗಳು ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಬರೆಯಲು ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯ ನವರು ಮಾಡಿದ ತಯಾರಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೆ.
ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯನವರ ಉಳಿದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಓದುವ ಬಯಕೆ ಆಗಿದೆ ನಂಗೆ.

ಕಾಲವಧಿಯು ಕಳೆದಂತೆ ಮರೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ತನ್ನ ಒಡಲಲ್ಲಿ ಗೌಪ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಬಚ್ಚಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಅಂತಹದನ್ನು ಹೆಕ್ಕಿ ಓದುಗರಿಗೆ ನೀಡಿರುವ ಏಳು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳು ಕಿರು ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಉತ್ತಮ ಅವಶೇಷಗಳ ಅರಸುವ ರೋಚಕ ಅನುಭವ ಓದುಗನಿಗೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ. 👏👏

ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಹಿನ್ನಲಯುಳ್ಳ ಕಿರು ಕಾದಂಬರಿ. ನಿಜಾಮರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಅನ್ನೋ ಕುತೂಹಲ ಕೆರಳಿಸಿದ್ದ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ. ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಜಾಮರ ನಿಧಿ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಸಿಗದೆ ಇದ್ದದು ಬೇಸರ. 80 ನೆ ಪೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕುತೂಹಲಕ್ಕೆ ತೆರೆ ಬೀಳಲು ಶುರು. ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯ ನವರ ಉಳಿದ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ತರ ಇದು ಕೂಡ ರೋಚಕ.

ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿದೆ. ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ತನಕ ಓದಿರೋ ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯನವರ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಯಕ/ನಾಯಕಿ ಕಷ್ಟಪಟ್ಟು ನಿಧಿಯತನಕ ಬಂದಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ ಆದರೆ ಇನ್ನೇನು ಸಿಗಿದ್ರೊಳಗೆ ನಿಧಿ ಹೆಂಗೋ ಮುಚ್ಚಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ ಅಥವಾ ಸಿಗುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಯಾಕೋ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲಾ, ಇದರ ಉತ್ತರ ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯನವರೇ ಹೇಳಬೇಕು. ಕುತೂಹಲ ಭರಿತ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ.

Good explanation of Usman Ali Khan's treasury and his plans and what beheld him...etc, The Deendaar Anjuman conspiracies, The Siddhi entry into Andhra landscape, The Pakistani interventions...etc.

At some point I felt too many details for one short novel, but I think none of those details could have stayed left out.

As usual, a thriller and page turner from the author. This is on Hyderabad's Nizam, his wealth- scale of it, what happened to it after independence, his razakars, African cavalry et al. All this packed into fictional framework with historians and police.

Love blossoming between the characters towards the end was totally unnecessary and the novel would be a five starrer for me without this.
