"This is Mills & Boon/Harlequin romance at its best!" Goodreads reviewer
Michelle is an award-winning author who has been writing for romance publisher Harlequin Mills & Boon since 2007. "Truly funny and moving", “Poignant and absolutely impossible to put down,” and “Sparkling with warmth, humour and charm” is just a small sample of what the critics have had to say about her romances. In 2019 she graduated with her PhD (her topic area was Contemporary Romance and Feminism). She’s a sucker for happy endings, heroines who have a secret stash of chocolate, and heroes who know how to laugh. She lives in Newcastle on Australia's east coast with her own romantic hero, a house full of dust and books, and an eclectic collection of 60s and 70s vinyl.
Kit just had the kind of luck to get pregnant by Alex the one and only time she was with him. Afterwards he harshly broke things off. Then he took off for four months on a trip. When she told him she was pregnant with his child, he said he couldn’t be a father. He had lost a child and every child reminded him of his pain. The author was trying to let the reader know the kind of pain Alex was going though. She repeated things often so some of the emotions were lost. Instead at times I was left to feel annoyed. Stating things one’s of twice would have been enough to make a profound impact, anymore than that takes away from the message. The book did have some great messages to learn from. The ending was perfect. I do wish the author would have included the birth of the baby, and the sex, to see if it was a girl, or boy.
Some of my favorite parts of this book: Sample from chapter 10 Turbulence raged in those dark eyes of his. “Then why are you going through it?” “Because the hope is greater than the fear.”
Sample from chapter 11 You’re doing with chad what you did with your parents – blocking out every memory, good and bad, in an attempt to block out the pain. You think by avoiding those memories you’re protecting yourself, but your wrong. The same goes for love and family and commitment. Doing your best to avoid those things just means you’re going to keep losing and losing. Couldn’t he understand that? He heart ached and ached for him and it ached for their unborn child.
I admired Kit's resilience. She was sweet. I never warmed up towards Alex, tough. Every time I gave up on him, the author would throw a sad story about him trying to get me to like him. I was mostly "meh". She repeated the pattern over and over again.
Fine story. Not much of a plot, just Alex repairing Kit's house and staying at her place for a few weeks. Falling for each other's hotness and lots of doubts on Alex side. Had I been Kit, I would have given up on Alex from fay one and the story would have been shorter.
Another sweet read from Michelle. I really enjoyed spending time with Kit and Alex as they came to terms with having a baby together and accepted their love for each other. A wonderful story.
Con este tipo de libros siempre quedo esperando el epílogo, siento que el desenlace fue como en cinco páginas me hubiera gustado un poco más de reflexión y que ella no aceptara tan rápido

I thought overall that the novel was great. There were certain points in it that I didn't like. The heroine was a bit delusional at times and the hero was an ass.
Eh... A lot of the same argument over and over again. Plus no sex, just feel we should get at least one love scene and more then 2 " madding " kisses. Only upside.... It was a short read.
