It's I! begins with an introduction to the letter, what it looks like, and where it fits in the alphabet. In the second section, fun, illustrated sentences show examples of the letter with regard to sound and placement within the words. A cute, rhyming story brings the letter variations together in the third section of each book. Each book wraps up with a fun quiz and a glossary. Me, myself, and "I" all recommend this book in the sparkling phonics series called "It's the Alphabet.
First, to introduce you to the standard format for this series:
Each of these easy readers begins with an introduction to the letter. - What does it look like? - Where does that letter fit in the alphabet? I, we learn, is #9 in the English alphabet.
In the second section, reader-friendly sentences give examples of the letter. - How does it sound? - Where would its word order be, when that word is placed within the sentence?
In the third section, a rhyming story playfully reviews variations on how that letter is used. - There's a playful quiz. - There's even a glossary.

FIVE STARS for a book that is incredibly important to aspiring readers. It sure did make me smile.
This series holds the attention of my preschooler with bright photos and interesting stories/poems. The length of each book is good, and I especially like the examples of words that end in the featured letter and words that have the letter in the middle, in addition to examples of "starts with" words. Also noted are the exceptions of the letters like a silent l as in "could" and l sounding like y as in "tortilla."
At the end of the book there are great games and activities to enhance learning letter sounds. We have been playing them in the car.
I haven't actually read the I book, but it's the only one I could find on goodreads. We've read W, Q, N, and L.
This book is part of a series that features different letter sounds and images of accompanying objects. The text introduces some of the different sounds that the letter can make when it appears at the beginning of the word or with other letters in the middle of a word. The explanatory section of the text would be more appropriate for older children beginning to read. The book also features a short story that rhymes and includes the feature letter. Young children may enjoy the rhymes and readers could use the book to promote phonological awareness. It may be too advanced for very young children just beginning to learn about letters.
