Arkham Bakery: 13 monstrous cupcake recipes to fright and delight

Rate this book
Arkham bakery is a place where dark gods, unspeakable horrors, and mere mortals can meet for their sweet treats. Monsters inspired by American horror virtuoso HP Lovecraft, as well as pop culture critters from classic and contemporary sources, find themselves in confectionery form, their claws and fangs and tentacles reduced to artful decorations that grace delicious cupcakes. No need to sacrifice a virgin or first born. Offer up a Mojito with Lime or a Black Forest with Dark Chocolate and the old gods will be lulled into sugary bliss. With 13 different recipes ranging from traditional to vegan, everyone will have a favorite fiend. Step-by-step instructions assist in recreating inspired cupcake art designs.

I got this book because it was a cute Cthulhu thing and didn't look at the recipes very well before I did.

It's not that the recipes are bad, it's just that they're, well, super fancy and involve all kinds of exotic ingredients. You have to have a sophisiticated pallete to appreciate these recipes.

Some of them are also rather difficult to accomplish. Ice cream cupcakes, honestly, are probably not such a good idea.

Also, most of the monsters they base their cupcakes on aren't Lovecraftian!

Not really sold on this one.
