Artists around the globe and from across the pop-rock universe—encompassing strains of power pop, indie rock, jangle, pop punk, garage rock and alternative , among many other related sub-genres—are releasing some of the most vital and boundary-pushing albums of the post-rock Millennium. And the majority of them are doing it with a deep respect for the six decades of music that preceded the 2020s.

I've become a fan of Lauden's through his Substack, articles he's written, and books he's edited. He likes to focus on power pop, a genre I love. He enlists musicians and critics to contribute to this 100 page or so journal and it's a nice mix. I loved reading about favorite bands like The Beths and Sloan, learning more about The Whiffs (I dig their new album), and the country influence that threads through power pop. Every article is entertaining and I have lots to listen to for the first time or relisten to for the hundredth. Looking forward to a Vol. 2!
