Breaking up with her longtime boyfriend, she heads to Scotland for her summer vacation, hoping to put it all behind her—though she never dreams how far behind her it will go! During a stop at a clan ceilidh, Maggie meets the man who should be heir to the Clan MacKendimen—one whose father turned his back on his heritage for a new life in America. And then Fate steps in to throw her back to a time when men controlled everything!

Alex MacKendimen returns to his father’s lands and discovers a life that could have been his. With the emptiness of his life staring back at him, he wished for another chance to find happiness and finds himself catapulted to the past – as he and a beautiful stranger face dangers together in medieval Scotland.

Me being a time travel romance junkie, this was right up my alley. The one thing about reading this book is throughout the book there is a lot of old scottish text. They speak with the scottish accent and it is spelled out. At the beginning of the book it slowed me down as I tried to consistently figure out what they would say, but as I kept reading and the text was repeated, I got used to it, and it was ok eventually. I have to say, other than a great story I also got a lesson in old Scottish speak! I am reading the second installation of this book right now.

A bit of a take-off on the Outlander premise of a circle of "singing stones" that can transport through time, albeit these stones were removed from the circle and built into an archway of a building. Our hero and heroine meet at a clan gathering, get shoved through the archway and are transported back through time. I could never figure out what year it was, I recall Edward III being mentioned as England's king, and King David being the son of Robert the Bruce, so my research says sometime in the 14th century.

Anyway, our hero Alex is a double for the laird's son and heir Alesander who has been away for five years in London with the Scott king David (who was being held as a hostage by the English). So he is mistaken for the young heir, and Maggie is taken as his leman (mistress). Lots of ups and downs follow our H&H as they try to understand what's happened, and try to find their way home without being killed for pretending to be what they're not.

All in all very entertaining, but you do have to suspend some disbelief. I am sorry, but no man of the our times (most especially an ACCOUNTANT!!) could go back to the 14th century and pick up a sword and even have a clue to what he was doing, let alone convince his peers that he was adept at it. Also, the author wrote the story so that Alex picked up a Scottish brogue and Gaelic when they went back in time, but no one noticed Maggie's lack of English accent, let alone that she was from New Jersey. For those and a few other discrepancies I give it 4 stars instead of 5.

Note: if you are looking for something for a younger reader, this would not be a good choice. It's a bit of a bodice ripper, with more sexual content and descriptions than is appropriate for a young teen.

Overall, menurut saya ceritanya cukup oke biarpun agak kurang nendang. Untuk novel tema highlander & time-travel saya lebih suka novel dari Karen Marie Moning yg lebih dramatis dan greget.

I really haven’t read much if any of Terri Brisbin’s books………BUT let me tell you after reading “A Love Through Time “ I am definitely a fan of her books! I loved the book right from the start and the ending was so wonderful. Two people, Alex and Maggie who weren’t looking for love are thrown back in time and must blend in. Alex as the Laird’s son and with a betrothed living in the castle and Maggie has been labeled as his English whore. Their constantly trying to get back in time and it soon becomes a life or death race against time to get back through time. I fell in love with Terri’s writing and I immediately got the next in the series and I’m already hooked as it takes off where this book left off. Get this book and you won’t be disappointed‼️‼️‼️

MacKendimen Clan

I enjoyed this book so much. First its my favorite genre . Time travel from contemporary times to medieval Scotland. The twist is that instead of one character going back in time we had a couple go back. He was also a MacKendimen and a lookalike of a very distant (600 years) ancestor. They spend their time trying to figure out how to get back to modern times. Its a great read, strong characters, time travel, magic, and a hea to boot. I highly recommend reading this story.

My first Terri Brisbane novel and what a nice surprise. I wasn't too optimistic about a story where the male and female leads both travel through time together. However, it works very well here, as Alex is basically immediately cast in the role of heir to a clan Chieftain and Maggie as his mistress. This book isn't perfect, but it has a big heart. I have read lots of books that are technically flawless but didn't evoke any feeling whatsoever. This little gem made me cry, and ore than once! I really liked the hero, as he was a really decent person, right from the get go. The pace at which he and Maggie get to know and depend on each other was just right. I am definitely reading the nexr 2 installments in this Scottish time travel trilogy.

I really love the time I spent going back with Alex and Maggie. I really like how Alex has changed and that he has realised the love he has for Maggie. The element of magic never fail to attract me to the story. I love the plot and the romance and all the things they have to adapt in order to survive. I also love Brodie and Rachelle's romance. I really want to read a story of them and their bairns!!

I really really wanted to like this. The story was interesting and had such potential. I loathed the 15 year old betrothal storyline, and I couldn't stand how much the author told instead of showed. I would like to read more time travel romances especially set in Scotland but this one wasn't for me at all.

Time travel. Maggie meets Alex when ona trip to Scotland. They fall thru an arch and thru time to where Alex is recognized as the Lairds son, and she his whore. However his betrothed is not thrilled with Maggie, Alex is not thrilled to be betrothed, the real so is on his way home and Maggie and Alex have to figure a way home.

So. Many. Issues.

We'll just speak of a minor one where in the epilogue Alex brings a sword to Maggie's classroom. Yeah okay, like we'd allow weapons in school 🙄😬

The characters were horrible, the writing needed major editing, and it bothered me that Maggie had to be Alex's leman the entire time.

Great story

I would like to recommend the story for those who like time travel to an earlier age in Scotland. The romance is solid with proper growth in feelings.
The main characters are real people; the supporting cast strong characters and good friends.

A marvelous read!!! Sorry it had to end!

I absolutely loved this book! Terri Brushing definitely knows how to spin a tale to keep one interested! I love Scottish tales and going back in time stories. I feel she did justice to both all roles into one. Bravo!!!

I could swear that I have read this exact book before but couldn’t find any record of it! Must have been years ago. Everything was so familiar. The book is well written but frustrating to watch Maggie’s treatment.

I enjoyed this time slip romance, set in Scotland, of course. The characters were very engaging, and I would have given it four stars. But I found some of the sex scenes a bit laughable at times. How many euphemisms can one find for an erect penis?

I have enjoyed this book. I have all the different blood lines from Great Britain and a few other countries and I would like to travel back but not experience what Alex and Maggie did.

Maggie and Alex are strangers when they are swept through time together to medieval Ireland. Alex is mistaken for the Clan MacKendimen son and heir who has been in England for 5 years and Alex claims Maggie as his leman (their term for whore), so he can protect her from the advances of other men. An enjoyable time travel romance.

It takes a great emignation to come up with a story like this one. It was a great read with lots of intrigue. Alex and Maggie were well portrayed, even though I felt that it was a little slow in the middle. Look forward to reading more books with the same twist and turns.
