Sara Anderson, celebrated designer and children's book author and illustrator, joyfully introduces toddlers to all her all-time favorite subject--color--from fire-engine red to grasshopper green. The innovative conceptual design features thick, sturdy, boldly colorful cardboard pages of graduated lengths, so from the first page, children will work their way through a rainbow. The very last spread, black, cleverly incorporates all the previously shown colors and whimsical images in Anderson's signature cut-paper style. A unique introduction to color for the preschool set.

Good for young preschoolers who would like to try their hand at reading out loud. The cover and shape (rectangle shaped box & board book) is vivid and lively. I left this book out on display during storytime towards a toddler & preschool audience. The young and even older preschoolers enjoyed having this book by their side during the program.

The richly-hued illustrations in this book of graduated pages and images make learning colors so much fun. Night after night, my husband and son looked at purple flowers, red fire engines, orange pumpkins. Cavanaugh's got a great handle on colors and I think this book did a lot to help.
