A fast easy read. This book is an imaginative Sword and Sorcery adventure and as such I would give it 4-stars. It's biggest weakness in my opinion is the author's frequent use of deus ex machina (the MCs are saved at the last minute by a force or series of events outside their control) to save the heroes from a dire situation. I'm sure that a lot of readers look forward to this and the author is very clever on the various ways that he saves the day.
However, the downgrade to 3-stars is because the book is listed as an epic fantasy and this book is way too short and the simple story line, 2-dimentional characters, and dialog preclude its claim to epic fantasy status.
As a long-time fan of the fantasy/science fiction genre, I loved this book. It grabbed my attention from the very first page and I just could not put it down. The novel is beautifully written with great pacing, suspense, action, and romance in pleasing proportion. The characters are well-crafted - multi-faceted in feeling and motivation, yet very easy to identify with. This book is also wonderfully imaginative with a new and refreshing twist on the typical fantasy setting and beings. I would recommend this book to all who wish an entertaining yet thought-provoking read.
Well, I am biased, but honestly, I really enjoyed reading this book. It is one of the best first novels I have ever read! It is a fantasy book but I think it would appeal to a wide range of folks, not just those who read fantasy. This book is very readable, keeps your attention, and creates an interesting world of sorcerers, AElfs/Nymphs, Orcs and more. I highly recommend it!
The premise of this book was interesting enough but the lack of editing made it almost unreadable at times. There were so many broken sentences and typos that it really took me out of the story very often. In my opinion, the main characters could have been a little more developed by the end of the book but maybe there is more growth coming in the sequel.
Loved the characters! Read the whole series, and it gets even better as you go! Had a great mixture of depth and action. I don’t usually read fantasy, but I’m glad I gave this one a try!
Rough, inconsistent, riddled with typos, and poorly paced. Basically, it needs a proper editor. Also, it stops very abruptly, making it feel more like an extended prologue than a full book.
I've never done too much reading in Science Fiction. Yet, I found Celestial Justice to be one of the best books I've ever encountered. The story is very well written and compelling. The author, Gil Hough, displays a particularly splendid and rare talent for writing action scenes. The main character of the story, Rodregas, is supported by companions Doi'van and Imeralda as he battles sorcerers and travels in otherwordly regions toward a surprise ending. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a good read. Many people love Science Fiction; others have never read a single Science Fiction title. In either case, you'll enjoy the action in this exciting and well told story!
