Taming Her Wolf

Rate this book
Dumped by his girlfriend, Gareth doesn’t think things can get any worse until he’s captured by some vampires. But he’s not about to become an all-you-can-eat-buffet without a fight.

With great age comes boredom, which suits Helen just fine until she goes looking for a blood servant and finds herself intrigued. The wolf she brings home might want to tear her to pieces, but she’s determined to tame him. What she never expected was to have the tables turned and have him capture her heart.

Helen thought she could tame the wolf but instead, despite the taboo nature of their relationship, he taught her how to live again.

Warning: The heroine is one stuck up, blood sucking vampire, but then again, the hero is an ornery, chauvinist werewolf. This is an erotic romance featuring adult situations some readers may find offensive. Reader discretion and a private room are advised.

Taming Her Wolf is a fun, sexy story of forbidden love.

Gareth is a down on his luck werewolf who wakes up from a night of drinking chained to a wall in a cell. Though have may have been captured by vampires, Gareth is not going down without a fight. Helen is an age-old vampire looking for a new blood slave. Upon meeting the wolf, she decides she wants him, if for nothing else than to put him in his place. Bored with life, she sees a challenge in him and is looking forward to breaking him.

I like the characters in the story. While Gareth is your typical Alpha male, Helen is a bit of a surprise. You won't find any helpless females waiting around for their big, strong men to save them in this book. Instead, Helen is an incredibly powerful vampire, much stronger than the wolf. She had a hard past and now is just barely living. That is, until she gets the wolf into her home and cannot seem to stay away from him.

Ok so I really liked this book, seriously liked it, haughty female vamp (who is so so much physically stronger than the werewolf) and the werewolf male who hates vampires but can't seem to stop himself from wanting this one.... The one who bought him as a blood slave.

So the plot gets more erotic and less about plot but then a twist in the form of her maker causes the plot to thicken and get more interesting. Our hero is so possessive and Helen allows it, so cute. So why the two star rating?

Great story! I loved the ending - left it open for an even better book that's coming out later this year :)

The book starts off as we meet Gareth - he had just gotten over a relationship - he went out and got drunk - for a Loup, getting drunk is not easy, but once it's done - it helps numb the feelings - it also slows him down - so when Gareth gets jumped by no less than 8 Vampires, he realizes he screwed up.

When he wakes up in a cell - chained to a wall, he knows he'd become their blood slaves - And Gareth was PISSED about that .

When Helen went to the caves to buy a new Blood Slave , something a vampire must do in order to survive - or to keep from attacking stray humans - she wasn't impressed with Kevin's selection of humans. She wanted something ... more - when Kevin told her about the Loup they have farther down in the basement, but he wasn't tame, something perked her interested.

When he showed her the Loup, there was something, underneath all that filth that covered him, that stirred emotions in her that she had long buried.

She was up for the challenge though. Lately life had become dull and boring - so taming a wolf to be her blood slave seemed like a sensible way to kill time.

Gareth wasn't impressed by her all mighty act, he could sense her power, but knew he was stronger. So when he found himself in her house, on a soft bed instead of in chains in the cold dungeon, he didn’t' know what to make of it - but he knew he'd do anything to get him free.

Helen didn't know what it was about this wolf, but she knew she had time. She wasn't mean, so when she used her compulsion to get him to mind her, he found out fast that she was indeed a strong vampire. one that desired him as well as he desired her.

It was a cute story getting to know these two - their story happens within a few days - the romance picks up fast - and everything in their world turns upside down when they realize that their relationship could never happen.

Looking forward to the next book :)

When I first started Taming Her Wolf, I kinda thought I was really not going to like the two main characters, especially Helen. She at first to me didn't seem to deserve a happily ever after. When we first meet her she is purchasing a blood slave for herself. These are captured people who are there against their will. So you see, I was like she is a total bitch! Then Gareth at first seemed maybe weak in a way. Just because he was pining over his last girlfriend and seemed really hung up over her. Then as always Eve Langlais deepens the story and I end up loving them both.

Helen might have a hard outside shell, but inside there is a really soft spot and only Gareth gets to see this. She had a hard past and shows some vulnerability which to me made me like her so much more. Gareth also grew on me, he brought out that alpha male, and got all protective over his "princess"!

Obviously these two are the most unlikely couple. In their world it is forbidden for a vamp and wolf to get together, reasons they start discovering. I love the sexual tension throughout this whole book. And when they do get together, well see the Warning in the book blurb and make sure you listen.

The book is not only extremely hot there is a lot of action. Helen's maker has found her and he his coming to claim her again and take his revenge. But by this time Gareth has already fallen in love. The ending battle was pretty intense and I couldn't stop reading.

Like I said I fell in love with this book. It was extremely sexy, lots of sexual tension, strong heroine who shows us her vulnerable side, and one strong hot sexy male. Oh and wait for the very last few sentences, it leaves us with a promise of an even sexier book to come.

I enjoyed this, but it wasn't great. That said, I do want to read the next one because I want to know what's going to happen with Kristof... how he's going to die the horrifying death he deserves after what he did to Helen. And then Gareth. And then Helen again.

There were some humorous moments in this one, but I think Helen's language sort of got in the way of the smexiness for me. There's a way people used to speak 200 or so years ago. Everything was so proper. Marriages were arranged for land deals. Women weren't ever alone with men they weren't married to. They covered just about every inch of skin. And there was a certain "proper" way they spoke. When Helen is trying to ignore her physiological response to Gareth, of course her inner dialogue is in that same "old-speak", and it just seems too proper to be anything close to hot. When the chapters from Gareth's point of view came along, I was happy because his responses were more earthy or base. Yeah, he wanted to kill her, but he'd get some first. :-) And then he moved beyond wanting the killing.

Overall it was sweet. Not as steamy as some Eve Langlais books I've read, but enjoyable.

Another treat from Eve Langlais! I really love her Welcome to Hell and Furry United Coalition series books, and Taming Her Wolf is another fun read. This tale is a standalone, and at an estimated 125 or so pages, it was a quick read. If you are into humorous paranormal romance, this is a read worth checking out.

Gareth the wolf shifter runs into some trouble after binge-drinking his feelings when his girl friend gives him the boot. Things go from bad to worse when he gets rolled up by some blood-sucking fiends to be used as a glorified Slurpee. He meets cold-blooded vampiress Helen well into his imprisonment, and has every intention of ripping her old heart out on his freedom run. The unthinkable (and unexpected) happens when Helen ends up handing him her heart, and he starts thinking that maybe being owned may not be such a raw deal after all.

Tamed Maybe

Wow! This book was so exciting, sexual, and the ending was completely unexpected. I absolutely loved it. This story was about the purchase of a lycan, by a sexy vampire, and her attempt to control and tame him as an obedient blood slave.

I loved this one. He was cocky and sexy. She was calm and cool. I enjoyed this so much, I wanted MORE. The story is about 155 pages long.
I find this one to be Eve's best. It's a shame, she doesn't have more stories like this one. Oh, well.
This is definitely a re-read.

Different and entertaining.
Definitely something unusual having an alpha wolf and a vampire as the main characters.
Really would like a follow on to have Kristof dealt with.

This was a very good story. Gareth and Helen work really well as a couple and I totally enjoyed seeing them get together.

Helen is a vampire and has been once for centuries. She was made by a bad vamp that treated her badly until she escaped him. She's shopping for a new "pet" (living blood donor) and ends up with a lycan. She finds herself attracted to him but relationships between Lycans and Vampire are against Vampire law (not to mention there's a great hatred between Lycan's and Vamps that makes it unlikely to happen normally anyways).

Gareth is a werewolf. He's not part of a pack because he's too alpha and doesn't like taking orders but doesn't want to lead a pack either. When he ends up getting kidnapped and sold to a vampire as a regular meal he's not too pleased, regardless of the fact that he can't figure out if he wants to kill her of screw her...

Gareth and Helen are both attracted to each other but it's hard to deal with. Lycans and Vampires are enemies and Gareth's instincts are to kill her. Also there's the fact that he's captive and she wants to "eat him" that pisses Gareth off. Regardless of these facts, Gareth still finds himself (and his wolf) more interested in getting personal with Helen rather than kill her and escape. Helen tries to resist Gareth. Her one past lover was cruel and made her fear intimate contact. Between that and the fact that Gareth could kill her in a moment of inattention she doesn't see it as a good idea (not to mention the laws against it). Eventually, things between them come to a head and they end up together. It's sweet the way Gareth gets all protective of her and wont leave her. Things grow between them but they have to keep it secret from outsiders.

Just as things are looking good for Gareth and Helen, her ex-lover shows up threatening danger. While she's grown stronger over the years, she's not strong enough to best him and she fears a confrontation. They meet the danger and survive but do end up having some continuing issues because of it. The end of the story is a HEA for their relationship but there are still dangers lingering over them. Eve originally had planned for a second book to follow this but that was 2012 and it's not out yet. I liked the story a lot and it has a good ending so it's not really what I'd call a cliffhanger, it's just open where another book could (and might eventually) follow it.

This was a very good story. I really enjoyed rooting on Gareth and Helen and was happy with their story. If a new book comes out to continue this story I'll happily read it. I'd recommend this story. Thumbs up! :)

Helen is one powerful vampiress, she is sexy, confident and runs a tight house hold full of blood slaves, and staff. Beneath Helen’s dominant and controlled facade lies a wounded soul, that was abused physically and mentally by man who promised her the world, who she thought was her prince charming. Kristoff belittled Helen for over a hundred years until Helen escaped and became the women she is today, no man will interfere with Helen’s independence and confidence again.

Helen decides that she needs to go shopping for a new blood slave and is shown a Lycan who is pissed off at the world, and everything around it. Helen is immediately turned on, and lusts for the challenge of being able to control and dominate her blood slave. Helen also knows how powerful a Lycan is, and how yummy his blood tastes and decides to purchase him right away.

Helen is determined to control her new Lycan and show him who’s the boss. Helen must learn to teach her new pet manners and to be submissive and obey her, but that maybe more than a challenge to Helen. Will Helen be able to teach her Lycan pet, Gareth some manners and show who him who her master is, or will she be the one who is taught a lesson in submission?

An awesome read! I loved the romance and intensely immersive erotica throughout this book. The sex scenes were amazing, and absolutely melt the pages of the book. The love that Garath shows towards Helen is amazing. Garath shows Helen what its like to fall in love and trust someone again, someone who will not hurt her. For all the Paranormal romance readers out there, this is the book for you. I very much hope a sequel to this book is in the works.

Funny Story!!

I laughed plenty reading this one. Loved the characters and storyline so much. Helen was very determined to keep Gareth in line. He was funny and so loving to her she had all her walls broken down. It’s a shame that he didn’t get the chance to kill Kristof. Off to find my next story. 😊😊😊😊😊💜💜💜💜💜🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

I love Eve Langlais's books and this book is no exception. Gareth comes across as very crude but underneath he isn't as crude as he seems, he was just trying to get under the skin of his captor, though that backfired when he started to see under her facade and fell in love with her, recognising her as his mate and wanting to protect her from all who would hurt her!
Helen appears cold hearted and a bitch at first but like Gareth's crudity, it's a facade to protect herself due to trauma she's been through in her past, first a father that sold her into marriage for land and wealth and then a man who changed her and took her virginity without her permission and proceeded to abuse her throughout their 'relationship'. She warms up for Gareth and though she tries to keep a distance between them, like Gareth, she can't help falling in love.
Their story isn't quite finished though as Helen's ex Kristoff is still at large and will no doubt be amassing an army to come after Gareth and Helen as she broke a pretty big taboo when she feed him her blood. I'm curious as to what the full consequence of that will be. He certainly became stronger and vampire compulsion didn't work on him anymore, but he was also stuck between forms for a while. I wonder if as he continues will he eventually be able to truly change still and will it solve the problem of his mortality compared to her immortality that currently still forms a slight obstacle in their happy ever after. If she continues to feed him her blood, could he become a more balanced hybrid?

Taming Her Wolf is Gareth and Helen's story. Gareth is a werewolf who has left his pack and is a renegade, whilst Helen is a vampire who is very old and powerful. Both have secrets and pasts that they would like to kept locked in the closet. When Helen buys Gareth as her new pet and tries to tame him to her ways, the tension and passion between the two builds as each day passes and as both fight the feelings they have and go against their species heritage and come together, they will do anything to protect each other, even if it means breaking their own hearts.

This is a sexy, passionate story that has plenty of humour. It is an easy fun read with likeable characters. Will definitely look forward to reading more from Ms. Langlais in the future.

I enjoyed this read. It starts out with two characters who have serious issues and I wasn't sure if I would like them. By the ending Helen and Gareth had won me over. My only qualm is with the epilogue, where Gareth acts a little out of character. Ms. Langlais will have some 'splaining to do in the sequel. And I can't wait to read it.

"I am not food"- Gareth- a wolf shifter is- captured and sold to Helen as a blood donor. Helen is a centuries old vampire who is feeling pretty meh about her life. She sees Gareth as a challenge, looks forward to taming him. It is clear from the very beginning that these two are lusting after each other but neither will admit it. This was a fun and sexy read. Really a 3.5.

I wasn't sure about this at first but I liked it. Not one of my favourites by this author but still good. I wasn't a huge fan of Helen. Even after we got to know her better, I disliked her a little less but I still didn't really warm to her. Normally, this author's heroines are awesome. I did like Gareth with his cheeky attitude.

The book was well written and worth a read.

This one worked all too well for me. In some ways, it's rather cheesey, with a buff wolf trapped and attempted to be tamed by an extraordinarily powerful vampire. The push and pull between the two seemed interesting on the surface while not striking anything particularly enticing in terms of relationship or character depth, but still I enjoyed it very much in any case.

This was another quick read by Eve Langlais, though reading short stories about people falling for each other means it all happens pretty fast and steps are skipped. I would have loved to have given it 3 stars, but I'm following another reviewer by taking off one star for the Epilogue, which makes no sense for the short story I just read.
