I finished (and absolutely loved) Owen Egerton’s MARSHALL HOLLENZER IS DRIVING. A sprawling but beautifully intimate series of character portraits centered around an exploration of faith. Like if Daniel Clowes did Chicken Soup for the Soul.

Seek out this great novel from ‘00.

Finished this a few weeks ago but kept forgetting to write about it here. This book was a fast read, but I didn't really connect with any of the characters and had a hard time reconciling the ending. I've now read all three of Owen's books, and I think reading this one last (the first one published) mostly served to show me how fast and how much he's growing as a writer... even if I wasn't crazy about this one, I'm still eager to read whatever else he puts out.

There are three stories here, sadly I must say only one of them was compelling at all. The two other stories consisted of a sloppy mid life crisis and a sappy love story. The book has all the stories collied at some point, unfortunately I was bored as could be by that time. It pains me to say this because everything post this book by Owen E. I have loved, but this. Wow, I just couldn't feel it.
