Decent enough story with some weak points. I thought that the relationship happened pretty fast. Only a week and a half after she returned. It might have felt more realistic if they had had a solid relationship as teenagers, but they were a one night stand even if she did have a crush on him. nother thing, we have no idea what type of cancer she had. That left a bit of a vague hole in the story. Also I thought that the fact that she got pregnant after having had chemo needed more explanation. Chemo is known to cause infertility in many cases. I went and looked it up. You can get pregnant after chemo but only in certain cases. The vagueness all around bothered me.

Very good book. Grace had come back to Texas to tell Nathan about his son, but she wasn't sure she could trust him not to try to take him away. After the childhood she'd had, she had trouble relying on anyone. She found, though, that her teenaged feelings never went away. Nathan was stunned to find out he was a father, and angry at first. He also knew that Grace had no reason to trust him after the way he had treated her in high school. He found that, as he got to know her, he really admired her. But could it be love? He wasn't sure, until it was almost too late.

I ENJOYED ALL THE BOOKS THAT I READ BY TRISH MILBURN. THEY ARE SIMILAR TO MARYANN JORDAN'S BOOKS. I AM STARTING TO REALLY ENJOY THESE ADVENTURE ROMANCE STORIES.
I DO LIKE THE F/UP STORIES THAT MARYANN JORDAN DOES FOR HE BOOKS.

The Cowboys Secret Son was a good story until... (roughly 175 pages in)

...the girl who became pregnant as a teenager repeats the same mistake as an adult
...the cowboy becomes seriously irresponsible and doesn't use protection ever
...the heroine takes off and becomes ill because she stops eating
...the single mother has no idea how to take of herself, refer to stop eating above, and really shouldn't be allowed to look after anyone after that little stunt
...our 'heroine' falls completely under the care of a man who will solve all her problems

Ugh! Seriously, as modern women, aren't we beyond reading about pre-1960s romantic plot devices? All that's missing is for for him to have smacked her around one or twice and for her to love him more because of it, lol.

Though this is a secret-baby book, thankfully the story primarily starts right as Grace brings their son to a camp run by Nathan with the intention of telling Nathan about him. While there were several elements of Grace's motives and actions that frustrated me, Ms. Milburn actually does a lovely job revealing her feelings and motivations that made her more understandable.

I did love Nathan and then seeing Grace be able to shed some of the emotional damage that keeps her from initially being able to trust and hope. Ms. Milburn pens a very emotionally wrenching story that ultimately has a happy conclusion. And as the start to the Teagues of Texas trilogy, it's a great intro to the rest of the family as well.

I quite enjoyed this first book in the Teague's series. This is also the first book I have read by Trish Milburn but it won't be the last. I found the story to be interesting and the characters likable. I wish I could have a family like that. I look forward to reading more about the Teague's. Way to go Ms. Milburn.

After having a health scare, Grace decides that her son's father needs to know about him in case he should be needed to take care of the boy because she has nothing to do with her family. Very good read. I have read this several times.
