Hungry? So you have Scott an aspiring cook. His dream is to get his cookbook published and open a restaurant. Then you have Tracey a girl who gets a job at the pizza shop with Scott. Scott is in love with Tracey. Throw in an angry boyfriend , two roommates, a prophet and a shit ton of cannibalism and you have Hungry 😋 Enck brings this story to life with his in-depth characters. This book is part story and part cookbook. So if you are looking to make some Maggie wontons or maybe some prostitute pancakes ?! Hungry is for you !
The book has a new aspect at the middle, a transgressive vibe to it. Almost heard Chandler Morrison talking while reading the main character thoughts. It's really fifty-fifty Splatterpunk/Transgressive. Very gory almost surreal at some point. The cookbook is also one of my favorite point of the book. At one part of the book, I took a break, not sure if the story was worth it. but I was wrong, like I said you really get an other style of writing. It's like the writer become better and better. The ending wow.
Hungry whether at home or at the cottage is delightful. Funny, witty and suspenseful. Life or death at every turn a mystery original in every way. Scott toils with people's lives while he feels he sees into their futures. Everyone's future has significance and the lives can fall in place or a part as part of Scott's meal as a cannibal with insatiable tastes for human flesh and a grossness without rest. Scott is filled with energy to match his hunger for flesh that he was appealing to victims as romantic as involved in their lives.
(Sigh) I wanted to like this one...but... I just didn't. Hungry follows an aspiring cannibalistic chef and restauranteur. This review really boils down to, I like my gore with a story. A "makes me want to keep turning the page" story. This missed the mark for me, I was really pushing myself to finish it even though I grew totally disinterested.
