I love romance. I love reading romance, living romance (who doesn't), but I especially love writing romance. There's no greater feeling than watching my characters come alive in each other's arms. Most of all, I love giving my characters the happily ever afters they deserve, with a little necessary drama first.

When I pick up a new book and can sink into the story, immersing myself in the emotions between the characters, I know I've found a keeper. I hope someday to inspire readers the same way my favorite authors have inspired me.

I love to hear from readers so feel free to email me at sondraebennett@gmail.com or check out my blog to learn more about me. I dedicate *most* Mondays on my blog to books I'm in love with so come on over and join the fun.

Wolf shifter Brendan has been waiting for Julie to graduate before claiming her, hoping he hasn't lost his chance with her. Having returned home Julia seems to be pretending to be happy despite something making her deeply sad and Brendan is determined to erase whatever sorrow she is feeling and whatever is causing it.

An easy and light re-read, do I wish the hero was more alpha this time around - hell yes but it was just the little morsel I needed to escape my to do list for a bit.

The motivations of the villain needed to be way more clear.

An okay little story. Nothing earth-shattering happens.
Although the motivation of the villain is a bit unclear, I read it in one sitting, so there's that. Still, I'd recommend you try some other shifter stories if you're in the mood for that.

Sondrea writes some very loveable characters into a good short hot novella. At the beginning of this novella the hero and heroine moved a little too fast but before long they seemed to slow down so I could get a feel for the romance between them and before I knew it I had the whole novella gobbled up left me wanting more.

Once Brendan and Julie get over their little problem there’s no stopping them because they are great together. I recommend this romance to anyone who loves a quick sexy read and let me tell you there’s one scene that’s worth the price it was hot.

Now I just have to get the author in gear to get Laurie’s story out and I’ll be a happy camper LOL.

“They’ll still hear us,” she whispered, as if they could hear the naughty thoughts in her head.
“Let them. Then they’ll know you’re mine.”……

Graduated and ready to start the next chapter of her life, Julie can't help but feel incomplete. Born to a family of shifters as the only full human, Julie often wishes she would be able to meet a mate who would treasure her forever, but knows it is a pipe dream that will never happen.

Brendan has been waiting for Julie to graduate before claiming her. Growing up as friends, it took all his restraint to never lead on how he truly felt. Now that she is back he plans of courting her until he can finally claim her as his mate.

Number three in the Alpine Wood Shifter series, a really good addition to the series. You feel for Julie, she is so confused by Brendan's actions that the courting process is not as smooth as Brendan had hoped.

This is one of my favorite in the series. Even with shifters, there are outsiders, something most of us have experienced. A good read.

Bonded mates, shape shifters, kidnapping, hot sex and unrelenting love for your partner...if any of those things call to you then this is a book you need to read. The characters are well written and the story plays out nicely from beginning to end. This story will not disappoint those who like romance with a little twist of paranormal in the mix.

Brendan and Julie were a match made from the beginning, if only Julie could see it that way. Brendan has lusted after Julie for years but understood that he had to let her find her own way to him, but when she finally came back to her hometown he realized waiting was for the birds. He had to have her as his mate for all time, she was everything for him and it was time he claimed what was him.

Julie has loved Brendan from afar since she was a little girl with pigtails, but she isn’t like the rest of her family; she isn’t a shifter. Julie believes this will forever keep her and Brendan apart, because why would he want ordinary when he could have special? If only she could see how special she really was to him.

But now someone is trying to take Julie from Brendan and this is just not acceptable to him, not when he finally has her back.

If a book with suspense, paranormal undertones and good romance is something that you are looking for than look no further. Sondrae Bennett spins a great tale that makes you drop everything else to read more of her works. Her books, especially this entire series, are now firmly rooted in my TBR pile and she is only my list of authors to watch for. This book will keep you page turning until the end and then reaching for the next in the series it is so good.

The Wolf Within is the story of Brendan and Julie, they've known each other since childhood and although both have always had strong feelings for the other, Julie's big brothers were one of the factors that stopped them being together. When Julie comes back to Alpine Woods after graduating Brendan is determined to claim his mate and nothing, not even the three Callahan brothers, are going to get in his way.

This is another sweet love story from the Alpine Woods Shifters series that has heated passion which both Julie and Brendan embrace. With Sondrae Bennett's writing style, it doesn't take long to become familiar with the characters and like them. This is a very quick read and being a novella you don't get the opportunity to have more in depth detail and exploration of the characters which I would have liked, with that said, the pace is kept at a good tempo throughout and it doesn't take long to see where the story is going. There are many characters within the Callahan family that have their own story to tell that hopefully this series will explore them as well as the other shifter groups in the Apline Woods area.

This review is honest and highly subjective. You've been warned.

Lucky this book was a quick read or it might have the high possibility to end up in DNF shelf.

I couldn't stand Julie at all. She's quick to assume without asking first, she always thinks the worst and she has a serious trust issue she just refused to tell anyone even she's in dire situation. Just ugh. Don't understand what Brendan sees in her, really.

I liked the action scenes, though. It was refreshing and thrilling.

Read at your own risk.

I liked how Julie was a completely human living in a family and town full of shifters. And I like Brendan's been waiting on her to grow up and come back to claim her. It was funny how her brothers reacted. He knew they were going to want to beat him up. Such a big brother thing to do. I also liked how in this story, an element of danger/suspense was introduced with Julie's stalker. I like how it's carried on into the next few books to further tie them together.

This is book 3 in the Alpine Woods Shifter series. This book was about Julie and Brendon. She was human born from wolf shifter/human family. He was a wolf shifter and long time friend of the family. After a big misunderstanding about whose mate he was, things got dicey with kidnapping, attempted murder and blackmail. It was a big twist, but the end...just ended... I want to read the other books to see Danny and Laurie find their mates. This is a good series so far..

Third in this series. I liked it but I didn't love it. The hero was great - he was all in 100% from page one, but the heroine took some convincing even though she had been madly in love with him for years, which was kind of stupid. 3 stars/B

As the only human born to her human-shifter parents Julie's insecurities have grown to massive proportions. Not fitting in the human world or the shifter world she's lonely. Having had a crush on Brendan since childhood and certain he's been hanging around to mate her sister just makes Julie lonelier.

Unfortunately, finding out she's wrong about Brendan and her sister doesn't ease the loneliness Julie feels since she's now convinced herself Brendan's an impossible dream. Brendan's been biding his time, waiting for Julie to finish high school then college and now she's home.

Now it's time to claim his mate and Brendan's not letting anyone stop him including Julie's pack leader brothers or Julie herself! But troubling council notice and an unseen and no doubt unwelcome visitor puts Brendan the Callahan brothers on alert to protect Julie and Samantha.

The mystery element was good and again this outing is showing improvement over the previous two but there is still a very rushed and incomplete feel to the read including another abrupt ending.

I hate rating any book so low especially as I've discovered that I really enjoy this author's writing....but....i couldn't get past the storyline. H, in my opinion, was way too beta. He let her go away to college thinking she meant nothing and gets upset when she has other relationships, he even goes and sleeps with someone else after she comes home smelling like some 'frat boy' but then feels so much guilt. I think at that point I just zoned out and skimmed the book because I didn't like either of these characters....he had no reason for not saying anything to her before she left. I don't know..i think I felt disappointed in both of them for not making more of an effect even though they both felt the same way.

Sondrae Bennett story telling is consistent and precise which makes her Alpine Woods Shifters series just that much more enjoyable!

Brendan has known since he was eighteen that Julie Callahan was his mate, despite her being only human, but with her four years younger than him, Brendan knew that he had to be patient and wait for her to spread her wings and mature. When Julie returns the Alpine Woods after college though, all bets are off and Brendan is not going to let her walk away again. But as the only human in an alpha wolf family, Julie has her share of insecurities and can’t see why a sexy and dominate wolf would want her for more than just a fling. Can Brendan convince Julie that she has more to offer him then any shifter could? When a stranger threatens her and the entire pack though, will Julie's acceptance come too late for Brendan to save her in time?

This series of novellas just keeps getting better and better with each new release! Full of suspense, emotion, tension and sensuality, The Wolf Within kept me turning the pages until the very end. The author’s writing easily flows from the pages captivating the reader and immersing them into the lives of these dynamic characters. Each novella is perfectly set up as a stand-alone but you will be missing some great stories by skipping the first two, Arctic Winds and Chasing Paradise.

Brendan and Julie’s relationship moved at a quick and fiery pace but a prior past together makes this easily believable. Both characters were well rounded, which is oft times hard to find in such short novellas. The main plot had an interesting mystery and a few minor twists that kept me guessing as to who the villains were. The entire Callahan family is present in The Wolf Within, which I loved. They also learn some important lessons in this story and I can’t wait to see more of them. The romance between Brendan and Julie was hot and steamy and sometimes humorous, I found myself smiling a lot throughout my reading.

Another great addition to the Alpine Woods Shifters series and a must read for paranormal romance fans who enjoy novellas.

*Sexual Content: Recommended for adult readers looking for some hot werewolf action to heat up these cold winter nights!

This was not bad....keeping in the style of the previous two books in this series...it is on the short side. And that being said, I still enjoyed the story. I only wish that the author had put a little more meat on the bones so to speak...and maybe played out the "coming together" a bit more for another 25 or 50 pages.

Even though I found this on the short side, I did find it interesting and intriguing. I liked the characters. They met a long time ago and were childhood friends. Brendon had been in love with Julia for years and had waited for Julie to finish college and come home so he could find a way to mate with her.

Julie on the other hand had a life long crush on Brandon but never thought an alpha wolf would take a whole human as a mate....so it never developed past that secret crush. She has watched her brothers and her parents with their mates and knows that that she will never know that type of deep commitment. She feels inadequate in their world and wears that sadness on her face.

Meanwhile, Julie is being chased by someone and Brandon becomes very possessive as he tries to convince Julie that he loves her and wants her as his mate. Without giving too much away...this becomes a very dangerous situation. But Brandon and her family rescue her in more ways than one and this couple have their HEA.

I love how the shifters in this series all struggle with their animal (in most cases wolves)sides and Like a vampire bite, their shifter bite to their mate, gives them impressive orgasms, closeness of mind and heart and some extra sensory or physical abilities.

The descriptions of the relationships of this family and of the characters is well done. Their dialog is for the most part believable. I yearn to be a fly on the wall and watch them all interact some more. I only wish we could have read more about and experienced the preliminary "falling in love." All-in-All: excellent short read. I will be reading any further books in this series.

I have enjoyed reading these novellas and liked the last two couples, but I definitely loved Julie and Brendan. Something about them having a little bit of a history and the threat that always loomed in the background just made this book much more alluring to me. Sondrae has writing short, fast paced, hot novellas down. There is just enough story there to leave me happy, but always wanting more. I could easily see any of these being a full length novel and would love to see more from all of the shifters we have seen mentioned so far.

Brendan has known Julie is his mate for quite some time, but the age difference and her three alpha brothers has kept him at a distance until she finally returns from college. Julie has always secretly pined for Brendan, but thought he was meant for her sister, so she has tried to bury her feelings. These two don’t wait long to clear the air though and get together pretty quickly. Luckily, they do slow down which gave me time to connect with them emotionally and let them just enjoy their time together.

We do get to briefly catch up with some of the other siblings and see how their lives have changed since we left them. And we find out that one of them is pregnant, but you’re going to have to read to figure out which one. I like that Sandrae lets us revisit characters we have already read about. I get so attached to the characters I read about, so getting to see that they are okay and doing well is always enjoyable.

Overall, I have really enjoyed this series and look forward to more stories in the future. I ate up all three novellas in one weekend and am definitely ready for Cody’s story now. Looks like I have quite a wait though since it is not due out until May, but I know I will enjoy it once it does release. If you are looking for a quick, great paranormal romance novella then this series is for you! :)

I saw this book because of an advertisement/suggestion her on the site and I decided to check it out since it involves some of my favorite things: wolf shape shifters and a heroine with my same first name (a rare find, actually).

The story was well-written and moved along well in its 35K words. I was reading it with the mind of enjoyment of the story and also looking how the author built her world and told a complete story with a limited space. (As of the writing of this review I am also participating in the 2012 NaNoWriMo, so stuff like that is on my mind. I want to learn tricks where I can.)

The people are believable, and the hero is so winning. He's all in, as another reviewer has said. I never thought of him as whipped or dopey. He was just certain and acting on it.

The namesake heroine was interesting to me in several ways. It seemed we shared more in common than just our same first name. Other random things were the same, and I wondered if certain names have a certain set of properties that go with them. It's interesting to ponder.

If I have one negative for this story, it's just a personal peeve of mine with werewolf/wolf-shifter stories. I don't like it when writers have their characters refer to the wolf as if it's a separate person or separate personality. Stop with the multiple-personality disorder and just be an integrated whole, will you?

The writer here has several instances of "his wolf" and other ways that indicate this distancing and separateness of the monster/animal form. Since I dislike that, I noticed it enough to take me out of the story for a few seconds, but it stopped bothering me so much as the story went on.

I'd say this writer does have good talent, and I'll check out her other works with interest.

Book 3 in the “Alpine Woods Shifters” Series
Rating: 4 ½ stars

Brendan is a wolf shifter. Someone’s finally come home and he couldn’t be happier. He’s a very possessive man – a total alpha. He lives in a town called Alpine Woods.

Julie’s family is there to welcome her home. She’s had years of misunderstanding that needs to be fixed. Her sister Laurie owns a bookstore with her called “Books and Crannies”. It makes me think of the old-time bookstores.

Julie seems to have self-worth issues. She’s different from the rest of her family and sees that as a big problem. But isn’t that what makes each of us unique. Brendan has his work cut out for himself – especially when someone else is added into the picture.

As with all shifters, protection of mates is very important. What a way to show your love for someone. The only problem is that women are more independent these days and have something to say when a male gets too protective.

The only complaint I have is that this story was over too quickly. I just wanted it to go on a little longer. The only good thing is that I know this is a series and that book four “Worth Waiting For” just came out in May. Paranormal stories are great in that anything is possible. “The sky’s the limit”. Nothing is out of bounds. The world of the paranormal doesn’t exist – or does it? Only you can decide. You can also stop by Sondrae’s Corner, http://sondraebennett.blogspot.com/, to find out what is also going on with her.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and it happens to be the 3rd one in a series. I don't usually like to read series out of order...but this one caught my eye.

This is a short book (fast read!) about the youngest child in a wolf-shifter family who happens to be born without the shifter gene. A full human in a house full of wolves, Julie has felt left out and ordinary her whole life. To get away and try living with full humans, she goes to college and only comes back home when she graduates. Unfortunately, right before graduation she finds out her human boyfriend is cheating on her, so her self-esteem is at an all low.

Brendan is a wolf-shifter that has known Julie's family since he was five, and has known Julie was his mate since she was 14. He's been waiting a long time to claim her, but wanted to let her go out and explore the world first. Once she returns from college, all bets are off, he's ready to seal the deal.

Unfortunately, Julie thinks he is supposed to be mates with her older sister. She has been fascinated and half in love with him for years, but doesn't believe he would be interested in her in a million years.

Boy, is she wrong. Brendan just has to convince her she's his one and only. Forever. She doesn't put up that big of a fight, but then again, this is a short story. :)

Pretty cute, and I love how sweet Brendan is to Julie. He just wants to make her happy. With him.

What I liked:
1. Dual POV
2. More interaction with Julie's family
3. More of a story line then the other books
4. Barely any bad language
5. Brendan. I loved this guy.
6. The connection Julie and Brendan had as it made the instant relationship believable.

Brendan is good friends with Laurie, who happens to be Julie's older sister. Julie thinks these two are mates but haven't claimed each other yet. This makes her sad as she's been in love or had a crush on Brendan since she was a teen. What she doesn't know is secretly Brendan has been feeling the same way.

For Brendan to claim her as his mate. these two will have to own up to their feelings for each other first. Brendan will also have to fend off her 3 alpha brothers when the time comes for breaking the number one rule: Julie's off limits. Julie will have to come to terms that he really wants her and is his mate as she will have to worry about being targeted by some stalking male shifter.

Jason and Samantha have exciting news and try to make a trip down the isle to the alter if fate is on their families side.

This story had a really good base and I wish it had been more developed and worked in to the story more. I was really loving it and the interaction with the family and that this story had more outside influences. Some things were glossed over yet again as I'm finding is the case for this series. I really wish the story line wasn't so underdeveloped.

I must be in my generous days, because my last 3 books got 5 (or almost 5) stars, and this book has the same rating. It can contain spoilers!

In this book, the main female character is aware of the shifters' existence, since she was born in a werewolf shifter family, though she's full human. It's kind of interesting, because I never heard of anything like that - with full shifter parents, she's full human.

At first, all this Laurie and Brendan are mate's thing was beyond frustrating... Thank God, it didn't last long until she realized not Laurie is Brendan's mate - but her!

I love reading about kiss scenes. It can be more erotic then the sex scene itself. This book didn't diappointed me, I loved the kiss scenes! Yumm~

Julie is a really strong human girl among these determined wolves, and I adored her for this quality. Brendan was such a flirt the whole time! He was really determined to win her mate's heart.

The only things I missed from this book is the baby question and Julie's future. Because they didn't use protection, Julie could become pregnant, and after this realization, the book didn't said a word of this whole question. Did Julie ended up being pregnant or not? And because Julie's human, and Brendan's werewolf, I thought Sondrae would come up with a plan for these two. Will they die together, or will Julie become a werewolf somehow or what? It just ended so quickly...

Otherwise I liked the story very much so I will give 4,5/5 stars to this book.

Cute shifter human romance. Julie is the only human in a shifter family, and although she hides her feelings, she has always felt less than because of this. Her sister's best friend Brendan, a sexy wolf shifter, is gorgeous, very alpha male. He knows Julie is his mate, but decided not to claim her when she became an adult, allowing her to leave for college. While she was away, Julie met a human guy, got into a relationship with him, and by the time she graduated from college, found him in bed with another woman. Hartbroken, she returned home. After Julie's return home, Brandon no longer wanted to wait to claim Julie as his mate. Julie has had a life long crush on Brandon but accidentally believed he was her sister's mate. After clearing that misunderstanding, they start dating/sexual relationship. There is a threat from the outside, Julie gets kidnapped, escapes with some injuries and they live happily even after

Julie has been in love with Brendan forever but thinks he just sees her as a little sister while Brendan knows she's his mate, but was giving her freedom to fulfill her dreams before claiming her. Their love story full of misunderstandings and secret longings and pain was extremely well done in my opinion. They were great characters and their love really saved both of them and filled the voids in their lives. The suspense part was well-written, too, nothing too complicated, but it wasn't totally far-fetched like in some books.

This book as of 12-1-11 has been the number 1 bestseller list - recent for Fictionwise and it is the 2nd recent highly rated book - recent too.

She has 2 other books which are within the 25 books bestseller list for recent books at Fictionwise also.

Her ranking is 3rd bestselling author - recent at Fictionwise.

I agree with these ratings as I have purchased all 3 of those books and they are excellent.

I really liked this book and the only think keeping me from giving it 5 stars is because it's a bit short. The author keeps getting better and better and in this book we see a bit more action and drama in comparison to the previous ones. Her character development is even better and even tough I always liked the way she portrays the love between her subjects it feels even more "real" in this book. Looking forward to reading the next one.

So far I have quite enjoyed this series. This book definitely felt more emotional to me. I really felt for Julie and her insecurities being the only human. I loved how Brendan knew her so well and tried everything he could to show her how special she is. This is definitely a series I will be recommending!
