Book Three in the Wicked Affairs series.

Helene Cosgrove’s only passion is her art, until she is betrothed to a respectable baron. Believing he will be the love of her life, she’s crushed when her father ends the engagement. Helene is approached by a second suitor, the wicked Lord Redding, Edward Chase. She is duty-bound to marry the scoundrel even though she despises him.

Redding happily snatches his rival’s betrothed and finds himself married to a woman of outstanding talents, utter radiance and innocent sexuality. Her haughty and summary rejection of him only spurs his desire to have her, and prove he’s as worthy of her love as her former swain. And what better way than to tutor her in his bed?

Helene is tempted by Redding in all the wrong ways. When he delivers her secret desires, she must reconcile her heart to the matter—deciding whether she loves Redding for who he is or for what he can do for her, in and out of the marriage bed.

Hi everyone. Here's my bio but I moved to first person - it's not like I didn't write it! LOL I think romance writing is nearly as good as the real thing. Given my choice of professions, I would have preferred to be a 19th century archeologist, but I am perfectly happy living in the 21st century and comfortably writing about such romantic but inconceivably inconvenient times instead. (Just thinking about being a woman two hundred years ago makes me cringe.)

I love traveling, movies, everyone else’s novels and a good meal out with friends on Saturday night. My greatest flaw is that I believe there is such a thing as true love. Don’t tell me otherwise...please. Maybe that's really why I write to begin with.

Would love to hear about your recommendations for new historical romance writers.

I forgot about this book. What I do remember is this book was more of an erotica than a hr. It's a shame cause this could have been a great story. All the new husband can think of is f***ing . The h is an aristocrat virgin and three days later she's having anal sex.

I'll admit the story was never slow. So not bad for an erotica but not I report not a romance. If I had been forewarned, my opinion may have been different.

An erotically inclined book, so gratuitous sex is to be expected but still sad to see it overshadow the story in the later half. Because the book did have a story, great mcs and a lovely chemistry outside of sex.

The H has an unrepentant bad boy image but is really a tender and caring gentleman on the inside.
He was urbane and handsome, sly and sensual.
Unlike the author's most other hs, this one is an innocent virgin. But still, it's weird that for an erotica artist, she's so wide-eyed about all things sexual.
The book keeps up the brilliance in the first half with the h forced into a moc as the H, her new fiancé scuttles her Gretna Green dream with her beau/old fiance. A sexy banter and battle ensues. I really enjoyed the rom-com feel till the sex tap opened.
The om/ow presence is overdone. Unwanted guests should be easy for this H to eject but he lets them encroach on what's essentially their honeymoon. This, the art thing and sex take center-stage in second half. And there's plenty of trickling down of vague information from the previous book, and about the h's and the H's past that, though comprehensible, is distracting.

But, still a good book, mainly because of the H.
The tenderness with which he kissed. And the roughness at which he played.

Wicked Lord is an intriguing, erotic, and artfully written historical romance. It's full of rich characterization; provocative, dry, and witty dialogue; and steamy love scenes. The behaviors and actions of the characters felt authentic to their time period and aristocratic upbringing, which, I admit, I struggled with at times. Unfortunately, the drawn-out romantic conflict and the slightly rushed resolution left me feeling somewhat ambivalent by the end. That said, I still ended this book with a smile on my face.

Caution: This book contains very light BDSM and anal play.

I am being generous, because even though there wasn't much of a plot, erotica usually isn't written so well. I appreciate that it was written like a true historical romance with a lot of kinky horny people in it- I can dig that.

This is my second book by Eliza Lloyd

I'm in shock that the same person that wrote the wonderfully erotic, yet emotionally gripping The Darkness in the Marquess of Dane wrote this.

The wicked Lord Redding robs a baron's betrothed, and they marry. Of course, Helene is not very happy with the marriage; however, as a true wife of the ton, she is available to fulfill her duty and satisfy her husband.
I think the MCs have good sexual tension, but do I think their romance is credible? No, but that's it; it's Christmas, and I'm generous!

If the idea of star crossed lovers being destined together yet not really knowing it until they almost tear each other apart appeals to you than this is the story for you. These two, Helene and Edward, feel like their marriage is one of obligation not of love, but they can’t seem to get enough of each other. As the days get longer and the passion drives the stakes higher they just might realize that they already found what they were looking for... they just didn’t see it was right in front of them.

Helene was supposed to marry another until a scandal makes her father decide the wedding is off and he takes the next man to offer for her, Edward Chase, Earl of Redding. According to everyone who is anyone (and that includes Helene’s innocent ears) Edward is quite wicked; he is even dubbed the Wicked Earl of Redding. Nothing is out of limits for him according to the rumor mill and this is just not acceptable to Helene, she can’t stand him and cannot wait to get her wifely duties done and over with so she can be left to a life apart from him.

Edward is a man of the rumors, and he doesn’t mind that others know about his past exploits, but they are just that... past. His marrying Helene is the exact opposite of what others would expect of him since his motto is “I love the chase, many women have tried to catch him yet no one has succeeded yet”. But meeting Helene and asking for her hand might be just the thing to bring some good to his tarnished name. If he happens to have feelings for her those will soon turn to boredom….or will they?

I was quite surprised by this book, it wasn't what I expected. It was very well written and stayed true to the time period with references of things happening in the background of this love story. Edward and Helene’s story starts out rocky and doesn’t get any better until they learn to trust each other and be willing to open up to the other, only then do they start to let their feelings grow.

Overall this was a great story with wonderful characters and a healthy dose of sex that definitely kept me wanting more until the last page.

Helene Cosgrove first struck me as spoiled and bratty. She was in love with someone else and then was forced to marry Lord Redding who had a reputation of a wicked rake. As the story progressed and I learned more about her my view of her slowly started to change. Helene did not let go of the feelings she had for her original love easily. She made no secret that she did not want to perform her wifely duties which certainly did not sit well with a man who up until then had women bragging that they were in his bed. Luckily Redding had some pretty creative ways to try to persuade her to change her mind.

Edward Chase, Lord Redding was a character that was very difficult for me to like or dislike. He would do something mean or rude and then turn around and do something kind or selfless. I could never quite pin him down. As frustrating as that was, it also kept me reading on well past the time when I should have put the book down, I was hooked. He also was very sexy and that helped too. His ability to seduce Helene was fascinating.

I have to say there were some very memorable and arousing scenes. I really appreciated some of the plot twists because they were a different than books I’ve read previously. The characters really did grow and change throughout the story, reacting and struggling as they dealt with each other and the challenges they came up against. I appreciate flaws in human behavior and I don’t expect people to change instantly. I have read many romances and this one is one I will remember for quite some time.

quotes:-Men think they want the shooting star on their arm, but in the end, they want to go home to the reliable moon, always in their orbit, within reach. It shines brightly enough. Everyone knows that moon is predictable, respectable.
-Take pleasure where you can find it, Helene. Life is too short not to enjoy every moment.
- He’d loved Teddy from the first moment he saw him. He supposed the tender feelings were augmented by the certain knowledge the boy was completely his. There was something deeply disturbing to him about losing his only child. The concept of flesh and blood was never more real as he had watched Teddy in his bed dying. A piece of him had died that day. Talking about it did not alleviate the pain.
~review~ This book is so much more than (can-count-them-on-my-fingers but non-memorable) erotica I have read, actually it’s written better than some moderns that are not considered erotic. If you can ignore few dated expressions, that may enhance historical feeling about story, you get wonderful arranged marriage novel with believable characters, steamy sex and witty dialog. it’s kind of fairytaleish and very enjoyable.

Moments

I had high hopes for this read. I almost tossed it three times if I am not mistaken. I added quotes at critical points to good reads as I went bitching my dislikes. Helene in my opinion I could not relate to if she was meant to be the heroine, she was insufferable. Oh woe is me and by great pornographic artistic ability. I haven't felt like I wanted to bitch slap a character like this in a long time. Personally, I wouldn't waste my time. There are better books out there. This one needs a better female heroine. Someone loving, supportive, forget all the damn drama with no show runaway guy. Who the heck wants tho keep reading about that 90% through the book. Give her better traits not some stand offish spoiled can't touch this persona. She wasn't allowed to stand up for her sister in law about her dirty uncle raping her. WTH was that about? Female heroines should be strong.

Ok loved this story! At first the kind of hated each other but as the relationship progressed they began to see each other despite their flaws that they were meant to be together. I must say that they kept leading up to her big "secret" and I just didn't think that it was that bad particularly because Redding was a rake. However I do understand that the subject matter in that time period explained enough to me why she kept it a secret.

The tension between the two was sizzling! I will definitely go back and read the first ones and more stories by this author!

Another well-written regency erotic romance by Ms Lloyd about Lord Redding (Edward Chase) and his betrothed, Helen Cosgrove. Ms Cosgrove was betrothed to a baron when her father cancels the agreement. Lord Redding marries Ms Cosgrove but she is convinced she is in love with the baron. Edward sets about to win her love and show her what real love is about. The best Wicked Lord so far! Very hot, passionate and I couldn't put it down until I finished. Now I am waiting for the next one!

I bought this one from Books on Board.

Despite having read books one and two in this series, I found myself confused as I read this one. The connections between the characters in this book and the previous were not clearly explained. I did enjoy the love story, which is a nice take on the jaded rake and innocent miss trope. The angst was a little eye-rolling at time, but consistent with the characters personalities.

This story was just how I like my Historical Erotic Romance...a beautiful blend of sensual delight, love blooming and slowly unfolding, wonderfully developed characters and just enough historical detail to keep me up into the night to finish.

Very hot book!!

I really enjoyed this book. While it is a steamy romance novel, it also is a good story with the characters showing real flaws and real feelings.
