Barron's extensive Parenting Keys series presents advice from a wide variety of experts in an effort to help parents raise children in the demanding contemporary environment. The author, a registered nurse and family consultant, advises on when to begin toilet training and offers a step-by-step guide to the training process. She also offers detailed discussion of common problems, including resistance and temporary periods of regression, constipation, bedwetting, childcare, and more.
Good amount of information on starting, and also advice for when various things happen (regression, infection, constipation, nighttime wetting). Been working on potty training my almost 3 year old for the last 4 months. The author's practical advice is exactly what I've noticed our child has responded well to, and I plan to implement a lot more of the ideas and strategies from the book as we try to start training again in the next couple of days.
Who would've thought I'd be reading about toilet training at this stage of my life?! I read it simply to refresh myself on potty training as my great grandchildren are living at my home now, one of which will start training soon. This is an easy and quick guide that seems to cover everything.
Lots of tips and troubleshooting type information. The method here is focused on cooperation and slow, steady progress. Not a ton of detail about the actual training method, but lots of ideas for if things go awry.
I just randomly picked this off the library shelf to give me ideas about potty training my little boy. It was pretty straight forward and informative although certain parts felt like they were a little more detailed than what was necessary. It seemed like a decent potty training book but nothing I would really rave about.
I liked the laid-back approach. Maybe #3 will be as easy to potty train as #2, but maybe he'll be potty trained even earlier? (I'm crossing my fingers!)
Concise and practical advice, sorted in easy to read sections. I think I'll be re-reading and referencing this one throughout the process.... (when we actually get started, if ever....)
