This one featured a couple decent stories about the Punisher now living as the leader of The Hand and one great story about the origin of Punisher’s war journal! This was all typical Punisher violence and action, as expected.
Three talkative short stories- not short of violence though- but quite good actually even if if they don’t redefine the character known as Frank Castle. If the first story can be read independantly it’s best to have read Jason Aaron’s recent run to contextualize the 2 remaining.
Grønbekk is clearly a understudy for Aaron, and helped by writing these side bar issues for the main run, of varying qualities. It's a lot of the same for Frank, killing monsters and the hateful, but I do think she was getting it with the "Home Base" issue. Frank truely is a man in purgatory being back in the civilized world, he is so distant and changed by war that he can't adjust to the bland suburbanites around him. Why did that man's poor dog have to die?
A series of one shots that add some background to the main Punisher series running concurrently. Not great stories, but pretty good. They didn't seem as frivolous as many one shots of this type, as they did seem to make a point of some kind in each story.
