Colin Hawkins (1945) was born in Blackpool, England, and won a scholarship to art school at the age of thirteen. He and his wife, Jacqui Hawkins, produced their first children’s book, Witches, in 1981 and over one hundred titles have followed since then.
There was something simple and fun about this book. The onomonopia succeeds throughout the story, and the pictures were simple and pleasant.
A few books are about children overcoming fear of the dark and monsters. This one is almost as good as Go Away, Big Green Monster. Where Green Monster disassembles the monster and makes it less scary, this book features a clever little girl and dopey, scardy-cat monsters.
