Abba Evan writs a wonderful history of the state of Israel from before its founding with Chaim Weitzman and the UN and Truman through the wars and the boycotts and the development of the settler movement to the Baker peace agreements after the gulf war. Abba Eban, the diplomat and man of letters, is there from the beginning and almost until the end.
