After battling a malevolent ghost that held the spirit of her friend Ian MacKinnon bound to the land for two hundred years, sixteen-year-old reluctant psychic, Riley Williams, felt as if she was finally easing into her new life in Scotland.

Or so she thought.

Laria, the spirit of the witch who had cursed Ian wants revenge for Riley’s interference and she’s bringing along friends—dark entities who thrive on evil.

The one bright spot in Riley’s world is Ian’s descendent, Kade MacKinnon, who could easily be Ian’s modern day twin. The parallels between the two guys are undeniable. As Riley’s relationship with Kade blossoms, she begins to realize Laria has grown in her power since their last confrontation—a power that could very well manipulate the living just as effectively as the dead.

Please note: THE HAUNTED is a mature YA. Due to strong language, mention of alcohol and drug use, cutting, and sexual content, it is not recommended for younger teens.

After the killer cliffhanger we were left with at the end of book 1, I was excited to get back into the creepy life of Riley Williams. Laria is back, or well, she never left, and she has friends now; friends who are just as evil as she is.

What I enjoyed the most from The Deepest Cut was how awfully creepy it was. In The Haunted we've still got plenty of evil ghosts and spine chilling moments, but we've also got quite a bit more character development and romance in the mix. I was particularly happy about the romantic undertone throughout the book. JA wrote a wonderfully bittersweet romance in book 1; she introduces an even better one in this sequel. First, she gives us Kade, a looker and a charmer, then she creates this passion between him and Riley that is irresistibly endearing. Though, of course, Laria has to get her horrible, menacing hands between them. She is awful! But definitely makes a fantastic nemesis.

We get to know a few new characters as well: Kade's sister and cousin, in addition to a couple of new ghosts. The whole MacKinnon family history is fascinating. I'm very curious to learn more about their past; I'm fairly certain they have quite a few more skeletons in their closets than what we were initially told.

The MacKinnon Curse series encloses deeper, more serious topics than just hauntings - turning a simple scary ghost novel into a substantially bigger story. In addition to making the characters realistic, these real life problems mixed in with the paranormal work to bring out a wide array of emotions. Riley is learning how to deal with the cutting, and Laria had begun to really taunt her with it, not to mention her dad throwing unexpected news at her. This, with the addition of Laria possessing her friends and family, is turning Riley's life into a complete mess. We see a lot more of these real-life developments than the first in the series, consequently making the paranormal plot more scarce, though I enjoyed getting to know these people better. It makes us really care for whatever's going to happen to them; whatever has already happened to them. I won't just be reading the next book for some mindless scary entertainment, by now I'm fully invested in these characters lives. I want Riley to rid herself of this malevolent ghost before something grave happens to her, or anyone she loves. Laria has gotten a heck of a lot more serious, and extremely terrifying!

I wouldn't consider the ending a cliffhanger. It's obvious that the story is not over, but I didn't gasp and curse JA for leaving us hanging again (nicely of course >.< - because we all secretly love cliffhangers!). If you haven't read this series yet and you're a fan of hair-raising ghost stories, you are missing out! This is positively one of the creepiest I've come upon!

BRIEF SUMMARY
Riley has battle Laria, the witch ghost, whose held Ian earth bound for centuries. Helping Ian to cross over, Riley began to feel normal starting school and meeting new friends. On her first day of school she meets Kade, a descendent of the MacKinnon family and the splitting image of Ian. As her feelings starts to grow for Kade, danger comes in the form of Laria and she isn't finish with Riley. Laria has become stronger and manipulates everything around her, as well as brought a few friends from her past with her to help in her chaos.

THOUGHTS

The haunted gives you a thrilling excitement that hooks you in and scares you at the same time. Fans of the first book, 'The Deepest Cut' will not be disappointed with J.A Templeton's continuation of Riley's ghostly world and teen romance. This is a stellar work of fiction that I would love to give more than five stars. This young adult story is for a very mature YA audience. I felt book 2 is the peek of Riley and Kade's romance for the romance aspect of the book.

The story immediately picks up from 'The Deepest Cut' which was good for me. It felt good to reconnect with everyone again. The first book gave us Riley's time throughout the summer, while the second book has us experiencing her time at school. We also had additional characters to the story that we either love to hate or love. One of the additions I enjoyed was Madison, Cait and Kade's cousin; I liked her spunkiness.

Laria gave me the heebee geebees in book one and she accomplish it in book two. Her presence was definitely felt. Her manipulation that she causes around her definitely brought out an excellent plot. I can hardly wait for book three 'The Departed'. As for Kade, I just want to age him ten years and have my wicked way with him and I'm crossing my fingers for Shane and Cait.

storyline: GOOD
Enjoyment: GOOD

FINALLY! I get to sate my mind on what has happened to Riley Williams!! Well not finally, it hasn’t been that long since I’ve read the first book. I’m just being really dramatic....

If I was playing the game “Never Have I Ever” and someone said “Never Have I Ever... read a great ghost novel.”- After this book, I’d have to take a shot of whatever was being served.....

I don’t even LIKE stories that have ghost in them.
I hated Tales from the Crypt, and stuck up my nose to the Goosebumps series as a kid... Simply because I’m a big chicken.
But I can read this book and enjoy it thoroughly.

The Haunted literally begins where The Deepest Cut ended. And Riley thinks that everything should be back to normal in her life.
She has helped Ian MacKinnon pass over to the other side, and naturally assumes that Laria’s evil spirit self has left her. And then she sees creepy Laria starring at her outside of her school. (Note:1st creepy shudder of this review)
Things after that quickly get dangerous for Riley.
This time, Laria is not just attacking her. She is aiming at anyone that Riley is close to, and what Riley can’t figure out is WHY Laria is still haunting her...

Ms. Templeton gives us a lot more depth to the characters. ALL the characters. (Secondary included) - I found myself getting slightly attached to them, and each story of their lives. She gives us drops of their family lives, personalities that make you thoroughly enjoy the book.
And along with the plot, it makes the book impressive. It’s able to stand along the first.
There’s nothing more depressing than reading a sequel to a book, and finding the second book is lacking from the first.

Laria. (Creepy shudder #2)
She is the freakiest little ghost I've ever read about.
Scratch that, she’s a freak of nature.
Picture the chick from The Ring...... (Shudder #3)

But really. Ring girl and Laria have serious grudges.. One's pissed about the whole "thrown into a well situation" and Laria is a demented not really ex-lova that you see on Oxygens, "Snapped!"
The only difference is one comes out of the TV and kills you instantly, Laria just stalks you and leaves painful marks on your body.(Shudder#4)
I think I'll go with Ring girl. That's how much Laria freaks me out.

Just her alone makes this book a mature YA. Anytime I read a scene with her, I braced myself. I was reading this book in the middle of the night, and I thought about getting a drink, and then thought about Laria. I soon thought, "Ehh.... Maybe I'm not THAT thirsty....(Shudder #5)
Ms. Templeton makes her totally creepy, and if I believed in ghost, Laria is how I would picture them to be!!

Riley.
I have to give this sixteen year old massive props....
If you had an evil spirit attached to you like a leach what would your reaction be?
Mine’s simple: A vile of holy water on hand, and daily visits to the local priest....
But Riley stands pretty damn strong considering all the harassing that Laria does- and other spirits that just won’t leave the Earth- to her.

If you read, The Deepest Cut , you probably fell in love with Ian like the majority of us. AND if you haven’t, I won’t give you spoilers. I’ll just simply say that Kade MacKinnon makes everything okay in the hott-European-dude department.

You're doubtful.. shame! This little description should be a enough to make you buy the book A.S.A.freakin'.P.

"My pulse skittered seeing Kade, sans shirt, playing football. He had an incredible body-nice wide chest, perfect pecs, a solid six-pack and the deep V that disappeared beneath the waistband of his pants. The same deep V that made girls get stupid, myself included."

Oh Riley.... I think we all just got stupid from that description....

I felt like the ending was a big cliffhanger... I went to click onto the next page, and...
what. the. what....
The story was over!
BUT (because there’s always a but..) I did enjoy how things weren’t quickly wrapped up at the end of this book. Book 3 I think is a going to have lot of things answered.. Ms. Templeton knows,oh so knows, and she torturing us with it!!
I anxiously await the third book, The Departed

I have just ONE itsy, bitsy request... Can the next book be longer??!
It’s a quick read; you’re sucked into the book and it flies by!!
She could have added 200+ pages to this book and that would have been A-okay with me!!!
There’s a great heat between Kade and Riley. I would have loved to read more between the two of them!!!

Even so, I always enjoy Ms. Templeton’s writing. The pragmatic voice she gives to the teenagers in this book is dead on.
I could picture in my head the kids actually talking like they do. Accent’s in Germany are very thick. But I now have a major urge to travel to Scotland...... ;)

I HIGHLY recommend this book if you enjoy a great Mature YA book, and of course Ghost.... (shudder #6) <------ Can’t help it. That little biatch named Laria is still creppin’ me out!

I was so excited when I saw that the second book in the MacKinnon Curse series was out. I absolutely loved the first book and couldn't wait to start the second one. I missed reading about Riley and Ian and even creepy Laria and then of course there was Kade, who I really wanted to get to know better, especially with Ian gone.

Templeton did not disappoint with this sequel. It was amazing and if possible, was even better than the first book.

Not only did we get to know Kade (who I absolutely LOVE by the way) and his family but we get to meet his cousin Maddison who, can also see and hear ghosts and she is just edgy and awesome in her own little way. I just loved her character and really really hope that we will get to see more of her in the next book.

I loved Shane even more in this book and his protectiveness of Riley. Miss A was great as always. Megan, Cait and Cassandra were great as well and I am so glad that they are all there for Riley and forming the kind of friendship that she really needs right now with Ian gone and Laria as determined as ever to hurt her and the ones she loves.

And Laria? Well she was even more creepy in this book with even more haunting moments of pure evilness and this time, she has some help.

There are some new characters that come in ghostly forms that I just loved as well. I really hope we get to know them even better in the next book as well.

This story had a lot more twists and turns that I didn't see coming and was just fantastic.

I love how even though this is a paranormal story the characters and situations feel so real.

Templeton has proven once again what a fabulous writer she is and she has a fan for life in me. I plan on reading everything I can from her and highly recommend this series. It is a great creepy fun kind of read with just enough mystery and intrigue, not to mention romance to keep you wanting more.

Truly this review does not do this series justice. It is a fabulous series and anyone that enjoys a good ghost story, some paranormal romance and some good ole fashioned mystery MUST try this series.
You will not be disappointed.

What am I supposed to do now? I started The Deepest Cut, and found myself in love. While I was aware of some minor glitches in the first novel; this second book showed none of the same obstacles. Where book one was an instant attraction and an impossible relationship; book two is budding relationship that grows and develops. The Haunting starts from where book one leaves off at full speed. Upon the return of the cousins, Riley finds herself instantly drawn to Kade MacKinnon; but is it solely due to the resemblance to a certain ghost or is there more to the attraction. It quickly proves difficult getting to know Kade with a pesky determined ghost that just refuses to go away, but somehow Riley and Kade manage to find a strong connection that grows rather quickly. As the deadly interactions become more and more frequent Riley will have to accept her inability to face this alone, but determine just who can she trust with her secrets. This was the first appearance of the MacKinnon family, and I am in love with the entire bunch. Each with their unique personalities make them stand out amongst the entire cast of character. This was a heart racing read from the start, and Templeton offered the same goose bump read that I enjoyed with The Deepest Cut. The ending was a race right up until the last page, and left me in a daze. I spent several minutes flipping pages back and worth saying, "Are you kidding me? It just STOPS!" I know it is intended to be a cliff hanger, but really what am I supposed to do now? It will be a depressing wait for the next book. So far each book as been short and easy reads, but offering a captivating and intriguing story that will leave you begging for more. These are BookWhisperer Must Reads.

Oh, good god, my heart is racing/crushed/swelling/skipping beats/flatlining...this series is AWESOME!! Picture Paranormal Activity meets Abbi Glines' Existence, and you have this haunting romance. I don't know how I haven't heard more about this series until now, I but will be highly recommending it to everyone!!

Haunted begins right where Deepest Cut ends, with Riley in the very beginning stages of getting to know Kade, the lookalike descendant of her sexy ghost boyfriend Ian But Laria is back, just as Riley is trying to figure out her feelings for Kade, and she can't figure out why she's still haunting her. The creepiness factor that was ever-present in DC is amped up beyond belief, as Laria is a lot stronger and now has reinforcements. Seriously, some of the scenes were like something straight out of the Exorcist, and the story is so well-written that you get a very crystal clear picture of the sheer terror that Riley has to experience. Honestly, I'm glad I wasn't reading this while I was alone in my house, and I'm not sure I won't have nightmares tonight...

The characters I loved in DC are back in full-force for Haunted, too! Riley, though heartbroken over losing Ian, is still feisty and determined to never back down. She discovers new allies and friends in the MacKinnon family, including someone who shares her gift. She is tormented by both the living and the dead, and there was a great deal of heartache for her that left me feeling so defeated. It was hard to read about her being in so much pain, especially when at times it seemed like there was no possible good outcome. Riley's brother Shane gets a little more depth in Haunted, and we see a new side of him when he starts opening up to her. Friends Meghan and Cass add dimension to the story with their sass and teen girl melodrama. Their interactions with Riley were fun and sweet, and I liked seeing more of them than we did in DC.

And of course, I have saved the best for last!! Kade, oh lord, what this sexy boy does to me!! I was so excited that Riley was feeling so strongly for Kade I love that in Haunted, we get to see the relationship that we loved in DC really develop and become even more believable and heartwarming. They still set off fireworks when they're together, and they share some very sweet and sexy moments together. That scene on the rock by the water...OH wow, my heart almost couldn't take it!! Riley and Ian's love story has captivated me from the moment I started reading this series, and I haven't felt this strongly about a book couple since Shatter Me's Violette and Adam. It's one of those magical, indescribable, meant-to-be romances that literally affects you on a physical level, making your heart race when they're together and just crushing you when something tears them apart. Beautiful!

I can't say enough about Templeton's series so far; her writing is spot-on, her settings are so eerie it's unsettling, and her characters grab your attention and never cease to impress. Twists and turns will keep you on the edge of your seat and loving every minute! I want to give fair warning, Haunted ends rather abruptly and leaves you with that feeling of "wait, is there a page missing here??" when there isn't any sense of real closure before the next book. I am dying to read the last in the series, The Departed, and given the open ending I hope it won't be too long of a wait!!

Yet again, J.A Templeton managed to have my jumping at every creaking floorboard in my house. There are a lot of floorboards too and it is an old house so there is a lot of creaking. I don't know what it is about this series of books but the author just pulls out 'creepy' in an amazingly talented fashion.

The ghosts are definitely well portrayed. They aren't your typical shaking chains and howling sort of ghosts, though they do tend to pull their share of trickery and haunting! Peter, an eleven year old boy ghost, haunts the school because it is fun there and everything is always changing. He likes to mess with the teachers and look at the pretty girls. It's little details like that which make them more then ghosts. They are people...who are dead.

Other than my obvious love for the ghosts, there is also the fact that in this book we were introduced to some new (human) characters. There's Maddie, who is Cait's cousin who lives with her and another new character who I won't talk about too much because than it would be a spoiler. Also, we learn more about Kade, Cait's brother who was gone for most of the first book. Kade and Riley's relationship is a large focus of the book and while Ian and Riley seemed to just fall in love immediately, this relationship takes some time to develop which I enjoyed. It was a nice change from the regular love at first sight story line.

The writing was excellent, as usual and the story flowed right along. I am not sure if the book actually was a little short or if I just read really fast and made it seem that way but my only complaint would be that it didn't seem finished to me. Usually, even in a sequel, there is a conflict that is solved or at least kind of wrapped up by the end of the book. It might not be the main conflict but we are generally left with some sort of conclusion somewhere in the last few chapters. Even in books with cliff hangers, something big happens that is leading into the next book or changes something we thought was for sure wouldn't change.

This books ending made me not realize it was the ending. I was confused. Where did the rest of the book go? It felt like it was a chapter ending, not a book ending. That is a small complaint though, in regards to an excellent book. If you haven't read this series, I highly recommend you go pick it up!

J.A Templeton WOWED me again! This book is oozing unmeasurable amounts of awesomenimity. After reading The Deepest Cut, I was literally aching for The Haunted. The story became much more interesting. I love how the story flows, it begins where The Deepest Cut ended. Ian had crossed over and Laria is back!! She is haunting Riley more than ever. The scenes the author had made between Riley and Laria was very cinematic. I imagined it like a horror movie. I had goosebumps all over! Laria reminds me of Sadako (The Ring).

Riley became stronger and wiser, She would do anything to stop Laria's haunting.

Though I miss Ian, I fell in love with Kade instantly; he reminds me a lot of Ian but different at the same time. The world the author created is breathe taking. I found myself drawn again to Riley's world. I had a new thing for Scottish Lads and now fascinated to visit Scotland.

Overall, this book is AMAZING... better than the first book. I had a lot of nail-biting experience while reading The Haunted. A must read! I recommend this book to people who doesn't mind getting scared. I can't wait for The Departed. Laria must die or in her case go to hell.

This book was sooo creepy!! I loved it!! I think my only complaint was that it seemed so short, either that or I read it too fast. :) I loved that we were able to meet some new characters in this installment, even if they weren't in it a lot. I liked Madison and Hanway from the little they were in the story. I had really hoped to get to learn a bit more about Madison's past and why she can see spirits as well. Maybe thats for another book? I also hoped for just a tiny bit of information as to how Laria was able to continue to haunt Riley and possess others when we thought she was taken care of in the first book. I knew there had to be some way that she'd come back, but we didn't get that explanation.

I did love that Kade was in the story and that he was connected to Ian. I have to admit, I missed Ian quite a bit! I really loved him in the first book. I liked that all the original characters were in this book as well, I love Shane and Miss A! I liked that Riley was truly accepted into the group of Megan, Cass and Cait too. I hope in the next book we will be able to find out what happened to Anne Marie as well?!

I feel like there were so many more questions raised in this book, it's hard to wait for the next one to come out!! I'm hoping it'll be very early spring?! Overall this was a great addition to the story and I'm very excited for the next one in the series! Hopefully it's longer and comes out soon!!

I LOVED Book 2! I cannot wait for Book 3! The book flows so effortlessly that by the time I was reaching the end I wanted to throw a toddler's tantrum for it not to be over yet. Even though Kade and Ian seem to be one in the same I love how Riley and he seem to form their own separate bond. And even though Laria and her backup goons are back with a vengeance, Riley is surrounded by so much love and support from those around her that she fights back with all she has much to the evil doer's dismay. I also really loved that she got to tell Madison and Cait about her abilities and that they were understanding. I can't wait for Book 3 and to see what's in store next for Riley and Kade!

I CANNOT wait until the next book!!!! this is simply too good not to be on pins and needles until the next one. I simply love Ms. Templeton's writing style and how she can put so much angst into this book. It is refreshing to see a love story that not only has romance but real depth instead of the normal frilly romance in most YA books. I also find it refreshing to read something other than another vampire or werewolf book (not that I don't love them :)). Thank you for making something so great, I await your next book in the series

This book was wonderful! The second book in the series, it had even more suspense than the first one. The characters are ones you grow to care about and boy, what a page turner! I screamed when I got to the last page and realized the next book doesn't come out until spring. It will be worth the wait!

What the..? How.. Why... Huh?

There was so much wrong with this. So much.

First off, Kade.

WHY?! Can we not have a YA story without a love story? I mean she fell in love with Ian the ghostboy, not shes all gaga over his great great great great great grandson? (I can't remember exactly what there relations are, but it's something like that I think.)

You find out pretty early on that Kade is Ian reincarnated... WHAT?! Did you google that one too Riley?

Also, Riley can read minds, because google/books she found in the library said she could. I had a very hard time buying all this. I mean it's one thing to have an accident and see ghosts, but its a completely different thing to be able to READ MINDS. That's super powers shit.

 photo unamused_zps630a8c40.png

The story lost its atmosphere too. I felt a lot of the "BOO" moments were reused from the first, so the fear factor was gone.

Still no word on why Laira is so cray-cray and dead set on destroying her. Maybe we'll find out in the next one, maybe not. Who knows.

Oh yeah, I love the way that Ian being a ghost at the same time as Kade being alive (even though they are the same person?) is explained. Apparently ghost time works different. Duh, I should have known that.

I would probably actually give this book 4.5/5.

The Haunted picks up where The Deepest Cut ends. I'm not going to say much about The Haunted because I don't want to give any spoilers for anyone who hasn't yet read The Deepest Cut. Riley has just met Kade MacKinnon, who was away for vacation over the summer when Riley first moved to Scotland. Kade is Ian's descendent, and the resemblance to Ian is striking. Riley feels as if she already knows Kade, and she easily falls for him. However, she doesn't understand why Laria is still tormenting her since Ian has moved on.

I thought The Deepest Cut was amazing, and J.A. Templeton did not disappoint with The Haunted. The romance, mystery, and suspense are continued in this second book of the series. This one does go more into the hot scenes than the previous one and is recommend for older YA due to that and other content such as language and drugs. I, for one, have mixed feelings about how far these scenes should go with it being a YA novel; however, I still really enjoyed it. I was easily caught up in the story, and the suspense kept me turning the pages for more. I feel as if I am invested in Riley and her life, and I cannot wait for the next book of this series to find out what happens next. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys YA paranormal romance.

Three-Sentence Synopsis:After helping Ian move on, Riley begins the school year and meets Kade, a descendant of the MacKinnon family. They begin a relationship and she wonders if Kade is a reincarnation of Ian. Whether he is or he’s not, Laria’s spirit is still here – now stronger – and will do anything to keep them apart.

Things I loved:
This was a rollercoaster ride. Like the first book, I had no idea where it was going but I wanted to keep reading.

Things I liked:
Prettymuch the same thing as the first book. The supporting characters were interesting and lightened up the story.

Things I “meh”’d:
Riley. I’m seriously wanting to throw my Kindle at her. Not only was she so obsessed with Ian in the first book, but she found a way to move on without actually moving on (thinking he's Ian’s spirit reincarnated). She seems so naïve. I wish there was more substance to Kade/Ian so I could actually like him – he's not really doing anything wrong. Maybe I would get what she sees in him.

And the book just stopped at the height of the plot like a “to be continued” series. I was a little frustrated. I do want to know what happens and will read the next book, but I wish they were labeled as a “part one” and “part two” instead of completely separate books.

I loved this book, just like the first one! I cannot believe how it ended though....Totally left me hanging and I don't have access to the third one quite yet. I bought it on smashwords to download onto my Kobo Ereader, and it isn't working :( I am so upset!!!!!!

I just love the characters in this series. Riley is such a real teenager. Her emotions and deeply felt pain and grief, and how she copes, is similar to many of the kiddos I have dealt with as a child psychologist. I love books about ghosts, and this is one of my top five (this entire series). It is super super creepy, and I was up until the wee hours of the morning being scared out of my mind! :)

I still am asking myself what took me so long to read this series! I wanted to start it a long time ago, and just didn't. I am so glad I started it when I did. Cannot wait to read the third one! I hear it's the best one!

This book was better than the last and it definitely got creepier. I liked Riley a little more this time around because she's trying so much harder this time. Her brother Shane was a little more prominent in this book and I really liked him. He was protective and concerned about Riley which was really sweet. It was nice that he was more than just a pothead.
I thought Kade was swoon worthy but things between them moved a little too quickly at the lake.
I'm glad Riley had good friends around her. I have to say Cassie was pretty funny, I love her bluntness. That scene on the car ride home was really creepy. I feel like this is the movie I won't watch like the Ring or something. Believ me I'm really surprised to be reading it!
If you like a little scared ghost story, definitely check it out.

I think my problem with this book (second in a series) might have been the tortured romance plot. Like, at the end of book one, our heroine's ghost lover has crossed over into the beyond. Do we really need her to meet his descendent (who looks just like him) practically the next day? She conflates the two and barely grieves for the loss of her first love. It's seriously off-putting.

The best characters in this one are the interesting side-characters. Hanway is great, and I hope he gets more screen time in book three. (Honestly, I think I've given up on this series, but if I see a description that says something like, "Hanway saves the day! (and the cattle)", then I will totally read one more.

Riley, again, is alone. Now that Ian has moved on, she thinks the curse is gone too. Then, the MacKinnon family moves back into their mansion, and she realizes the boy could be Ian's twin. Not to mention the curse isn't gone, she is still being haunted.

My Thoughts: So, this book was AMAZING! I would read the first book to get to this one any day. I loved how real J.A. Templeton's writings were, I was seriously freaked out some nights reading this. It was so different to really experience it on such a personal level. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes suspenseful YA romance novels.

I just can’t get enough of this series and the second book did not disappoint!
These characters are so real and bring out such emotion that it was hard to put this book down. The dark romance and danger keep building and bring with it more exciting twists and turns in this book.

I really grew to like Kade as a character. The relationship between him and Riley I couldn’t help being excited over this new love interest.
Laria is even worse than before and it was exciting to see how Riley handled both her and her growing powers.
Fans of the first book are sure to love “The Haunted” which gives readaers even more action and romance than the first.

Easily as fantastic as the first - my only complaints are that it was too short (left me wanting more) and I have to wait for Spring 2012 to get the next installment!
A great young adult series - but definitely for "older" young adults, as this book starts to deal with sexual situations, etc.
The spin on seeing ghosts and cutting brings some unique aspects to this series that make it stand out from others in the genre. :)
What can I say? I want more of that Kade MacKinnon *rawr*!

Couldn't wait to read this book after I read the first in the series and was so sad when it ended so abruptly!!! Anxiously awaiting the 3rd in the series which I'm sure will be just as awesome as the first two. Riley and Kade have quickly become my favorite fictional couple!!! All I can say is this book kicks some serious ass and I love that we have a heroin who fights for those she cares about. Keep up the good work!!

I liked this a lot more than the first. I don't really know how to critique it though... It wasn't amazing or anything, but I had a lot of fun reading it, mostly because of the relationships with boyfriends, friends, brother, and parents. It's possibly the most realistic I've read in a long time. I hope Riley learns to stand up to her father and works things out with Kade, cos he's hot. BTW, this is my crappest review ever, probably cos I have the flu.

I can't say enough good things about this book, I can only tell you to read this book if you haven't yet! And if you haven't read the first one, The Deepest Cut, then you should start it right now. I loved every minute of it and Spring can't come soon enough!
