Only 150 pages this story really grabs you in immediately. It’s about Bunty and meeps two black soldiers fighting in World War II experiencing racism and the hardships of being a soldier during World War II
Even though the book is fiction, we all know what black soldiers went through in World War II and the hardships and everything that just made it difficult simply because of the color of their skin. The fighting scenes are described with great detail. It makes it feel like you’re there the way John Clarke writes is nice. I can get you into it easy without too many big words. It has some illustrations with Harold James, which are just lovely. I don’t read too many bugs to have a couple of drawings and sketches on them, but it really made this story even more memorable just trying to find out who’s who from the descriptions of the characters
Overall, I advise you read if you want a younger adult novel that’s not too long that you can finish in an hour, especially if you like history and war
