Le bonheur: tableaux et bavardages

Rate this book

I think the best is just to give the presentation of his book, Philippe DELERM did himself:
"I'm happy. Will it continue? Here is the subject of this book. It will be a thriller. The most authentic one of the century. I am surrounded from every where, and until the bottom of my burrow. On each page there will be a sense of threat in the air, threat of death or cancer, car crash, or just weariness with life. But I'm strong, I have a lot of ammunition, I'll talk about it. If the threat takes shape, you will live it in the heart of my blood, of my ink. If I survive of that, we'll share the plunder. May be .... "
In fact it's short texts about life and happiness we can find in moments, in suspension in the time .... Feelings, present time, remembrances .... sometimes a touch of melancholy .... Delerm uses words marvelously , they fly in your mind like a light music ... We feel well to listen Delerm speaking about his happiness ... and it reminds us that ours is also just here ... so close that we could touch it .... but be careful .... happiness is fragile ....

This book, as other of Delerm’s irresistible works, is for those, who know how to savoir vivre, or would like to learn the art of it. Delerm is a very unusual author: I recommend reading his stories the way you try a good wine: sip (not drink!) them slowly, bit by bit, taste them, word by word, in order to let the flavor of every sentence to come out and flourish on the banks of your mind; to let the words gently force you to ruminate on the nature of simple things, surrounding us here and there; to compel you to appreciate and enjoy the beauty of ordinary.
