Lacey-Anne Frye is a young, loner gal with too much time on her hands. Born and raised in Maryland, she became interested in writing when she was in the first grade, although her short plays and stories from back then are more embarrassing than her baby photos. She currently resides with her biggest fan, her mother, from whom Lacey-Anne inherited the storytelling gene.

When she isn't writing and creating a billion new characters, she can be found sleeping, shopping for cheap DVDs online, and playing video games. Lucky enough to have a family who supports her love of male/male romance, Lacey-Anne is able to bounce ideas and possible plotlines off her mother during dinner or her brother while they're shooting and taking down zombies on his PlayStation 3.

Review:
This was sweet and a nice little story to read in one sitting when I was in the mood for something Christmas-y. There were a couple slightly misogynistic remarks from characters, if I recall correctly, so just a bit of a warning there. Malcolm was also kind of a jerk when he just thought it was sexy when Gavin was angry at him. But overall this was an enjoyable quick read, and the relationship and story did feel nicely realistic.

I liked first half a lot or first three chapters. But then last chapter was all sex and it was the longest scene. I stopped reading I got so bored. It took me forever to finish that scene and that is then the end of the book. Wish I would have stopped at the end of 3 because sex chapter ruined it for me

It was actually a really good story till the last roughly 10 pages which were nothing but one very long lasting sex scene. Too much of sex scene and not enough of the plot for me.

This is a great paranormal variation on the Christmas Grinch story. Can you imagine a big, badass vampire liking Christmas? Well, I’d never thought about it before, but when the question appeared, I must admit it made me laugh. This story examines what happens when a human’s enthusiasm and a vampire’s ‘grinchiness’ meet head-on.

Gavin has also never thought about it, just assumes everyone shares his enthusiasm and gets ready to share his first Christmas with his vampire boyfriend. Gavin’s disappointment when Malcolm reacts less than favorably is huge and he starts to wonder whether they are meant to be together after all. Confronted with real vampire prejudice and even hatred at his sister’s Christmas part, he starts to come to his senses, though.

Malcolm is baffled by Gavin’s sudden enthusiasm. He’s never liked Christmas (well, not since he can remember). As soon as he realizes how much he’s hurt Gavin, he reconsiders. I loved the way he makes it up to Gavin.

If you like stories about ‘cultural differences’ with a paranormal twist, enjoy hot make-up sex and prefer a story with some humor that will make you smile, you will probably enjoy this one.

This is a cute story about a vampire who is kind of a scrooge and his human boyfriend who really likes Christmas. They get in a fight and Gavin (the human) gets really pissed off at the negativity of Malcolm (his vamp). I liked the cute interaction with the sister and the turnaround by the BIL reacting to a bigoted homophobic jerk at a Christmas Eve party. Then there was some nice make-up smexing with Gav and Mal.

Short and sweet. Malcolm the vampire acts like a total tool for the first half, never bothering to consider how much Christmas might mean to "his human". They have a fight, and he is left behind from a Christmas party to think about the error of his ways. It ends up being cute, and loving without too much sugar.

~sigh. I really wanted Malcolm to bottom...

Oh, yeah. This book also features a very...er...creative usage of the word "deadpan." Yes, apparently, you can deadpan people. Not at people. Or simply deadpan, but deadpan people.

e.g. Malcomn Malcolm deadpanned him. (aaaand apparently I can't spell "Malcolm"...)

..."deadpan" doesn't mean "stare expressionlessly at," you know...

Malcolm and Gavin are lovers, but they have some differences. First of all, Gavin is a young man, while Malcolm is a vampire and has been alive (or living dead) for about 106 years. But in addition, Malcolm for whatever reason hates Christmas while Gavin loves the holiday. His mother is dead but Christmas was her favorite holiday and Gavin remembers the holidays with his mother and loves them. The first thing to happen on Christmas Eve morning is that Malcolm is taken by surprise when Gavin has decorated the entire house before he rose that morning.

Malcolm's bad mood is immediately seen by Gavin and they proceed to have a fight, first thing. Gavin was planning for both of them to go to his sisters' house for her yearly party but after dealing with Malcolms bad moo, he doesn't want Malcolm to go with him, and leaves alone. While at his sisters house, he finds one of only two guests is a rock hard vampire phobe who denounces vampires loudly at the party. His brother in law tells the woman to leave which surprises Gavin but also makes him feel better.

Then he has his car die on his way home, and Malcolm has to come get him. Then they really do enjoy Christmas Eve afternoon thoughly together. I recommend this short story to anyone who likes vampires, especially love affairs of vampires and humans.

For a vampire romance published almost 15 years ago, this wasn’t half bad! There was a bit of outdated language which was expected for the age of this book, but overall I’m glad I randomly stumbled upon this in my library’s eBook app!

For a story that takes place over 2 days, this sure did run the gammut of emotions. At times I wanted to smack both MCs because they were being so petty about something that was ultimately so insignificant. For a 106 year old vampire and a 20-something human they did at childish. But after an argument, which both had valid points on though their own execution of said points was seriously lacking, dealing with a openly bigoted female, a revelation from an unexpected source, and a minor car issue, they were able to work through a compromise.
