HIGHLY ENJOYABLE!
This book had a definite Harlequin Presents feel to it with a slight twist of Diana Palmer (but the old DP).
From the first scene when she walks into the room in her red lace undies he is gone. One look and that's it.
He does not go all crazy here he just slowly tries to get her into bed, but when he realizes that that was not going to happen right away, he tries other approach.
This was such a great book that way the hero sees that the heroine has many mental issues, Instead of pushing her into a physical relationship he actually set her up to see a psychologist to give her the help she needs to overcome her horrible past.
It was by no means a smut book but they do have chemistry and lost of passionate scene. Eventually they do have some sexy times but this is not what this book is about.
I have to say even the secondary characters in this book were good.
I loved it and the fact that he was not a player or a manwhore. It made the fact that she was innocent easier to digest.
This was a totally safe book no OW/OM drama and he always used condoms in his past.
Recommend for those who like Harlequin series and or Diana Palmer books.

UPDATE!!!!

Once again Lietha Wards has taken me by surprise with her work! This was one of my absolute favourites! I loved the story, the characters and especially the romance. It was such a sweet and really enjoyable read! =) It’s no surprise that with Ms. Wards work you get a little bit of everything....drama, HOT romance, a sweet, very touching story...and crazy past lives of characters! It’s all pretty much crazy but incredible!!! I love it!! ;p

THE SITUATION: The story revolves around a young woman named Brianne who has a terrible past with men and her overcoming her obstacles and fears when she gets close with her roommate, Cara’s, older brother, Jeb at their family’s ranch in the summer.

THE PROBLEM: Cara’s brothers are all gorgeous, sexy and dripping with HOTNESS and of course they get women like people breathe air. Brianne doesn’t know how to handle their affections towards her especially with her fear of men and just wants them to stop...(At this point I had a WTF look on my face...why would you want 4 sexy ass cowboys to stop ogling you?? *shakes head and sighs*)

THE SOLUTION: Jeb has his eyes on Brianne and he will do anything to keep her all to himself. Sexual teasing, stolen kisses, intimate touches, hot words whispered in ears, very HOT horse rides...you name it and you’ll get it! That is all I’m going to say!!! =) Ladies...start imagining!!! *wink*

I just love reading about stories like this, with a shy heroine and an alpha male all zinged up with sexual tension! Just gets to you! I swear it does! I really admired Brianne and her courage to stand up and face her problems despite her fears. I especially liked how open she was with Jeb and how safe and trusting she was with him! She really did open up and it was something to be admired. :) As for Jeb....really Lietha Wards has all SEXY ALPHA males sooo....that pretty much covers that! He was hot as hell and sexy as sin! No other words to describe him! And their relationship....my GOD....could this book get any hotter?? Seriously some of the things Jeb said made me blush!!!

I definitely look forward to reading more stories written by Ms. Wards in the future. =)

Sometimes it's nice to read a simple, straightforward love story! No world-building or dictionary needed! I'm glad I found this author...enjoying her work greatly.

Lietha watds writes another amazing book.
I enjoy reading Liethas books as thay have so much meaning behind the. they're books you cant escape from or put down. I felt like most of her books speak to the reader, that what i enjoyed the most.
Lumber and lace was about Brianne overcoming her past experiences and her bestfriend invited her to stay at hers for the summer, but she had four brothers.
Brianne was reluctant at first, but through out the story Brianne becomes to trust herself as well as men, mainly Jeb, who has also been through his fair share but he also finds Brianne appealing.
the part i liked the most was when Brianne and jeb met, it made me laugh and it was so imaginable i felt like i was standing in the room.
Chemistry between the two, i loved. It what i love about Liethas books, she knows how the chemistry works, how to build it between two couples.

I really liked Jeb and Brianne! She is sweet and innocent but has been knocked around by life quite hard and has the scars that come along with those experiences. He is a tough as nails alpha-male who has 4 younger siblings to look after. He is knocked for a loop by her, and while it takes him a while to accept how far and fast he has fallen, once he does, he is relentless in his protection and cobbling of his woman

Nothing over the top but lots of sweetness and rough edges that fascinate everyone around them and leaves our two main characters oblivious to the effect they have on each other and how it looks.

This was a light read.

Heroine goes to work as a temp for best friend brother business.

Heroine had a hard/traumatic childhood going from foster care to foster care. She's nervous and uncomfortable around males, especially alpha males.

Of course the hero is alpha but a sweet one and gently draws the heroine out of her shell. They have a strong physical attraction and chemistry.

I found that the characters were likable but not much depth. A light easy read.

Being drawn to more angst reads with intense plots/characters.

Brianne wasn't sure she wanted to travel with her best friend Cara home for the summer break, with four brothers she had heard a ton of stories about she as worried about her reaction to them. Brianne grew up in an abusive home only to be shuttled to foster care only to have it continued and making her unwilling to trust another male again.

Jeb isn't sure about his sisters best friend Brianne, he is used to having gold diggers befriend all of them only to try and get their hands on their money. He realizes quickly though Brianne is an innocent and sweet woman, one whom he wants badly. Jeb is not a relationship man but with Brianne he finds himself wanting it all.

This was just what I had been looking for an alpha male and a woman who is finding her own wings. First book for me by Lietha Wards and I thought it was great. Good chemistry and story.

an amazing book by lietha wards. I finally finished reading all of her works and in-spite of some grammatical errors i enjoyed them thoroughly. do read her if you love the concept of 'lion falling in love with the lamb'
Brianne was adorable and jeb a true alpha male all possessive and territorial.

An enjoyable read. A great holiday book, short, sweet with a bit of spice. The author seriuosly needs to correct the way too many & frequently very basic grammar mistakes in it though, they kind of take away from it.

Other than the spelling and grammar errors (Actually, this is the second book I read by Lietha Wards and she needs to edit her books!), I was expecting a little spice on this book. Every detail of this book is predictable and...boring. The female characters are quite average (Okay, it's really about Monique because she gave in too soon) and Brianne...well, I like her spirit but I was expecting something adventurous. The only thing interesting here is that the male characters have the same alpha-blah-blah-blah and yet they get away with it! I mean, c'mon!! Women also have to put their feet down!

Perfect romance to escape from reality.

Hero is wealthy over the top alpha.
Heroine is sweet nice and likeable. She was physically abused as a child but is not showing how strong she is in the present by being a bitchy ball busting alpha slut.

The romance was well done. An intense slow burn with a smexy end. The secondary characters deserved their books so interesting they were.

The only reason this book isn't getting 5 stars is the brother's romance got too much attention it took away focus from the heroine and hero. I liked their romance but felt it deserved it's own book.

Another really cute, short and sweet read by Lietha Wards! Bree and Jeb were amazing together! I would have liked to have had more action between them though… but I’ll live ;-). I also liked the background romances between Glen and Monique and then Cara and Greg that was nice… even though I would have preferred this focused on just Bree and Jeb… and then a book on Glen and Monique and Cara and Greg… but still I enjoyed all of the relationships in this book.

4 Red Lace Stars!

This one's a fun, sexy, yet at times emotional "best-friends-older-brother" romance that just about had a little bit of everything sprinkled in the story. I really loved this book. Even though the plot has been used before, I fell in love with it nonetheless. The whole thing was awesome and highly enjoyable!

2.75- 3.0 RATING- I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting. Maybe a Lynda Chance type alpha? Unfortunately, that's not what I got. Some editing issues, mainly misspelled or misused words, some repetitiveness. The sister got on my nerves. A secondary story line that needed it's own book. Overall, I just wasn't a fan of this.

This book is very typical of the author. Sweet virgin h with a past and an H who is manly and barges his way into the h’s life.

I liked the book. The h was shy normally but butted heads with the H. He was intrigued because no one dares talk back to him except the h.

There were a few romances for side characters thrown in there at the end which took away from the main romance.

This is such a cute little "does what it says on the tin" romance story. Bree, who fears men due to her past, is slowly bought out of her shell by her best friend's older brother. He's big, gruff, and hard, yet he softens for his woman as he guides her. There is no complex world exploring or reading between the lines, it's simple, sweet, and comforting.

Brianne and Jeb, Glen and Monique, Cara and Greg.
Cara brings her friend Brianne home from school for the summer to help her work in her brothers' business. The oldest brother, Jeb sees her and falls fast, but Brianne has a sad history and is afraid of men. It's all pretty predictable but I was lapping it up. Then the story kinda splinters when the author brings in love interests for Jeb's brother Glen and his sister Cara. In fact Brianne and Jeb's romance looses steam fast as Glen and Moniques' story steals the stage. It was too bad really. My attention started to wander... I really wish Ms. Wards had given Glen his own story. Instead the book turns into a soap opera.

I enjoyed the book thoroughly, but would have preferred a version without all the spelling and typographical errors. There are many instances where the characters are referred to by incorrect names and this can get a little confusing at times.
