I completed reading Pipaluk Freuchen's book Ivik, den faderløse today. I once read the three-page summary of the book somewhere 35 years back. I googled and found again the story of young Ivik.
A young boy, Ivik, from a hunter family faces a tragic turning point when his father dies in a fatal accident, leaving the family in starvation and emotional despair. Determined to save his loved ones, the courageous boy sets out on a daring journey to the mainland. Along the way, he engages in a great hunt and confronts a deadly polar bear in a brutal, life-threatening struggle. Against all odds, he triumphs, fueled by sheer willpower. Eventually, he is rescued by family friends and brought back to safety, where he reunites with his family—restoring hope, strength, and survival.
