After the incident with Claire, Emily encounters more problems. Conrad is back with explanations and hope. Emily wants to give him a chance to explain himself. She can't help but wonder why he left. However, Jake isn't comfortable with Emily going out to eat with an old lover.
Will things be too much for Emily to handle? Will Emily do the one thing she knows best and withdraw? Will Emily and Jake's love for one another keep them from shattering?
Lindsay Paige is the author of multiple Young Adult, New Adult, and Sports romances. She also enjoys writing books with characters who deal with anxiety and depression, issues which are close to her heart. Lindsay is a North Carolinian who loves watching hockey, sharing puns, having conversations with her two dogs, rewatching episodes of M*A*S*H, and living her dream of writing books for a living.
We pick up six months down the road with Emily and Jake. Jake's dad is finally sober and taking more of an active role in the boys' lives. Jake is of course still uncomfortable with his dad due to all the past hurts. Drake is still a big part of Emily and Jake's lives, though they have been spending more time together.
Unexpectedly, very unexpected, Conrad drops by for a visit. He is there to explain to Emily why he broke up with her two years ago, and hoping to maybe reclaim her for his own. Emily meets with him and comes to find out that his girlfriend prior to Emily had showed up two years ago with his son. Thinking he was doing the "right" thing he breaks up with her and tries to make things work with his ex. While he loves his son he realizes that he still loves Emily and regrets losing her. Emily is happy that he stepped up and did the right thing, but that she now has Jake and she truly loves him.
Jake and Emily profess their love for one another and take the relationship to the next level. Jake takes Emily away for a weekend of romance to his Uncle's cabin. They return and make plans for prom. They have a good time at the prom and hit the after party and have a really good time, Emily getting three sheets to the wind by the end of the night. She wakes up the next morning and realizes something....
Want to know what that is? Go and get the book, my friend!
Fave quote from the book.
“Emily leans forward and gives me a kiss. Through the kiss, she shows me her love. I show her my love and excitement for our future. She is mine and until she didn’t want me, she always would be.”
This is a 5 books series. I read the 1st and I thought it was horribly developed and executed. Too many serious problems being resolved in a blink of the eyes or glossed over. I decided not to finish this book after reading the 1st chapter and of course not finishing the series. The female mc had a boy friend who broke up with her with 0 explanation. That's what she told in the 1st book. Now, he reappears at her door after I don't know how long. Worse is her reaction. She's spending the day with her actual boyfriend, male mc, and when she opens the door she jumps on this other boy's neck as if not time was passed and he never broke up with her and disappeared. She hugged him out of habit. Say what?? Unbelievable. The 2nd chap is this other guy's pov. I am done. I am too old to tolerate this kind of trope of high school kids and their stupidity. And also this is the easiest way to cause conflict between a couple and what I call lazy writing and lack of imagination. I should cut some slack because these books are from 6 years ago and we as readers accepted pretty much every crap threw our way. I think right when self publishing was finding their stardom after FSOG and TWILIGHT saga. People were on the hunt for books to keep fulfilling the enjoyment. But my mind is on the now and I refuse to accept this subpar stories.
I would like to thank the authhor for giving me this book in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed Sweetness, and this book was just as good and sweet.
Emily and Jake have now been dating most of the school year, and after 7 months finally know that they are very in love with each other. A few obstacles try to get in their way, one being an ex boyfriend, but they learn to work things out and talk to each other. In this book they go further in their relationship and even go away for a weekend together. I don't totally agree with this, especially since they are still in high school, but they are cute together. By the end of the book they learn that they can get through anything by relying on each other and sticking together. Jake is wonderful. Just thought I would add that in there.
This is a nice romance series, and I look forward to reading the next book. Great for older teens.
Another lovely, possibly even more intense chapter in the story of Emily and Jake. Loved it, though I did want to reach in and shake her a couple of times. Ok, gonna try and finish my review of Sweetness, then this one. There's just something so touching and sincere about the way Lindsay writes the story of these characters. It's almost more like poetic snapshots of their story than a super linear narrative, and it creates a really lovely and, like Chrystle said, kind of addicting vibe.
This was short. And I've come to realize that I don't like stories written in the first person. It gets monotonous very quickly.
High school kids acting like adults are sort of funny to me. The story was sappy and predictable, with a half-hearted love triangle thrown in for good measure.
I’m Yours by Lindsay Paige is the second book in the Bold as Love Series, this book continues about six month after Sweetness ends.
I found this story to be more about Emily and Jake relationship which I thoroughly enjoyed. The relationship is going along great and like any great romance novel they do hit a few bumps along the road. They are faced with some challenges and have a huge decision make, and then on top of that Emily’s old love pop’s up and wants to talk to Emily over dinner.
You have to wonder if Emily and Jake can make it through these tough times.
The romance and love in I’m Yours feels very realistic and Lindsay once again has written a fantastic romance novel. I gave I’m Yours another 4 star rating. This is a great YA romance novel and I think anyone who loves this genre should go buy it .........you will not be disappointed.

This is an absolutely wonderful continuation of Emily and Jake’s newfound relationship. No relationship is all rainbows and unicorns though, and theirs is no different. Just when they are starting to acknowledge that they may just love one another, a very unexpected thing happens…Emily’s ex boyfriend finds her and tells her why he left her and how he still loves her. Who will Emily pick? Can her new found love for Jake outweigh the love she had that was so strong for Conrad? Jake isn’t sure how Emily feels for him, but he does know what he feels for her and it’s love. He can’t stand to think that he may lose her to an ex that suddenly seeks her out after years. Jake and Emily not only have this to overcome, but there are other things that come along too that require many decisions to me made. What does the future hold for Jake and Emily as a couple if anything?
There is a lot that happens in this second book of the series and it lived up to the expectation I had for it after my love of the first book for sure. I loved how it seemed to just continue on, so I knew exactly where they had come from without having an awkward time lapse that seems to happen in many other series. This book had me loving the characters even more and relating to them in a much deeper fashion. Some of the things in this book that happened really hit home for me and made me think of my own past. I like how Jake is such a great big brother in both of these books, taking care of his little brother Drake because his Dad has become and alcoholic since Jake’s Mom died of cancer. Once again the author amazed me and kept me absolutely enthralled in this book from start to end. This is such a well written book, again with such great characters. I don’t want to give any spoilers, so I must keep my thoughts shorter than I would like to. I just can’t say enough how great of a writer Lindsay is and what a great book this is and the series is. The romance is just so sweet and tender and I felt like I could feel the love between Jake and Emily as I read the book. This is a MUST read for anyone who love a good and tender romance, whether you are young or old.
I'm Yours, the second novel in the Bold as Love series by Lindsay Paige, begins six months after the conclusion to Sweetness. For the past six months, Jake and Emily's relationship has been going strong and things are starting to get pretty hot and heavy, but right when things are better than ever, they are faced with a life-altering decision.
I loved Sweetness, but I think I liked I'm Yours even better! In Sweetness, Jake and Emily both had to face their own personal challenges, but they didn't have to face many challenges as a couple. The first novel in the Bold As Love series mainly served as a introduction to the characters lives and their relationship. However, in I'm Yours, Jake and Emily had to work through a few surprises and set backs as a couple. Their relationship is tested in this novel. Jake and Emily have to stay strong through a surprise visit from an old flame and an unexpected surprise! In this novel, they must continue to trust and depend on one another in order to make a few tough choices.
I love this series because Jake and Emily are relatable and likable characters! It's obvious that the author has a good impression of teenagers and the challenges they face in life. In my opinion, Emily and Jake's strong affection for one another was spot on of a young couple in love. Their behavior was authentic and realistic. Ms. Paige did a a fabulous job capturing the essence of teenagers in love.
I gave I'm Yours (Bold as Love #2) By Lindsay Paige 4 STARS. I definitely recommend this series to young adults!
When I was reading Sweetness, Lindsay Paige took it off the market for revisions to part 2 of the book. I did a review for part one and you can read it HERE. If you haven't read part one then there might be some spoilers for you.
After a horrific incident with a girl from school, Emily and Jake have settled into a comfortable pattern of boyfriend and girlfriend. Thanks to Jake being so supportive and caring, Emily has finally broken free of her past. But life is not always sunshine and butterflies for the happy couple. Ex-boyfriends and unexpected consequences rear their ugly head and Jake and Emily must decide if their love is really worth fighting for.
In I’m Yours, Paige has written a realistic view on teenage romance and hardships. I guess it doesn’t hurt that the author is a teenager herself. You will most definitely want to read this follow up to Sweetness, to find out where life takes them and if love really is worth it. I believe it is!
A great second book to the series. Another quick read. It was a bit predictable but still enjoyable. I look forward to continuing the series so I can find out where their future leads.
This was a great place to pick up with Jake and Emily’s story. It’s a good coming of age story. I did love getting to learn a little bit of Emily and Conrad’s history

Note: I decided to do a series review for the first three books in the Bold As Love series, which includes Sweetness, I’m Yours, and Whatever It Takes. This review goes over what I liked / didn’t like in each book, as well as the series as a whole.
Series Overall Rating: 2.5 / 5
Disclaimer: The fact that I received free copies of this series in exchange for an honest review has not affected my rating. This review expresses my honest opinions.
For the most part, I found that this series of books was way too short. If I remember correctly, each book averaged at about 1000 or 2000 Kindle Locations. Regarding some serious issues like bullying and pregnancy, I believe some of the issues were glazed over, as well as the relationship building between Emily and Jake.
Book One: 2 / 5 My main problem with this book was the relationship building between Emily and Jake. I understand there’s lust between the two, but considering that both claimed to “love” each other after such a short while, I didn’t see much growth. Sure, they went out for some walks and some fun days with Drake. But personally, I find it hard to believe that someone as closed as Emily would open up to Jake after such a short while. Moreover, I found it hard to believe that Jake would start off by being so nice to Emily, then falling heads-over-heels in love, considering he’s such a popular hockey player. In both real life and other realistic fiction, it’s a pretty common theme that the popular guy falls in love with the shy and quiet girl, although it definitely doesn’t happen that quickly or easily between the two.
Moreover, although Drake was adorable, I found that Drake’s character wasn’t exactly right for a guy his age :/ I don’t know about everybody else, but usually guys his age don’t enjoy hanging out with high school girls as friends, or play in McDonald’s play house. Video games and hockey are more realistic hobbies, but I still found his language and attitude towards Emily to be unrealistic.
Book Two: 2.5 / 5 I thought that I’m Yours was better than Sweetness, although I’d still like to mention some issues. The first is that the characters Connor (Emily’s ex) and Claire (jealous girl) seemed to be very minimal in the book. I was hoping for more conflict between them, and there wasn’t much. Claire was probably mentioned once in the beginning, and Connor only had a few chapters to himself. It just seemed unrealistic :/ Moreover Jake and Emily’s parents seemed pretty cool and nice, but a bit too nice. Whenever Jake and Emily might or are in some kind of trouble, their parents always seem to help them out of the issue and just say “don’t do it next time” or “I’m always here to support you”. While it’s sweet that they’re this supportive, it’s a bit unrealistic.
On the other hand, what happened to Emily at the end seemed pretty realistic. Her emotions were well portrayed and beautifully flushed out. It definitely had some potential for Emily to grow as a person, and Jake to grow as Emily’s companion.
Book Three: 2.5 / 5
*slight spoilers ahead*
Like I’m Yours, I thought that Whatever It Takes was a large improvement from the first book. However, the mention of some characters, like Eve and Kyle, seemed to be glazed over. Kyle definitely had a bigger role in the book than Eve, but his involvement was still pretty limited. After he involves himself with Emily and takes action, Jake and Emily get into a little squirmish, but seem to resolve the issue in a very short amount of time. After that, Kyle still appears, but he dramatically changed, which I find unrealistic considering his type of attitude. As for Eve, her role is limited to glances at parties or conversations at the coffee bar. Was she supposed to make Emily jealous? It definitely didn’t seem so, and there definitely wasn’t any conflict involving her. She seemed like a pretty pointless character, actually.
However, even though this might make me sound like a complete jerk, I was glad that Jake and Emily got into their first fight. I don’t really recall any major fights in their relationship so far, and it was nice to see that they weren’t perfect. Their make-up however, seemed mainly orchestrated by their parents, which kind of irked me :/
Moreover, when Emily gains amnesia, her memory regain was much, much too quick for my liking. Maybe I was hoping for more struggles? This is also due to the length of the book too – the amount of material in the actual book was pretty short, and I suppose amnesia wasn’t supposed to be the focus of the book.
*end spoilers*
Series Overview: Overall, I feel that the Bold as Love series wasn’t really for me. From the start, everything seems very rushed, and a lot issues that are supposed to be more serious are glazed over. I will not be reading the next installments :/
"After the incident with Claire, Emily encounters more problems.
Will Emily and Jake's love for one another keep them from shattering?"
This is the second book in the Bold as Love series by Lindsay Paige. I also read this for CMN for my honest opinion.
Like the previous book, this was pretty short. Perhaps about 100 pages with some change. However, it took me longer to get through even though it was shorter than the first one. The first one I flew by in, but I kept getting distracted and to be honest...I wasn't into this one as much.
This one was a little more sexy and not so YA-ish. Don't get me wrong, I love sex parts as much as the next girl, but once Emily gave it up to Jake that was all they did. Every 10 pages or so they were kicking off their shoes and heading to the bedroom. I got a little bored with all the sex. However, I do applaud Lindsay Paige for keeping the sex bits clean. Sex....clean? The scenes weren't too into detail and the sex was mostly described as "making love" and it worked. It was a YA for heaven's sake.
Yes, there was a lot of drama in the last few chapters, but beforehand I was bored. Simply bored. I hate to say that, but I'm honest. I really was into the last few chapters! The ending kept me on the edge of my seat! At one point I really felt like Emily was sinking into her oldself and was never to return. I know I would had a hard time not sinking into a pit of despair. Events like that are horrid and sad.
There was no real cliffhanger at the end of this one, which made me happy. However, there is going to be another book coming out soon. I think its about Jake's and Emily's previous life before they met each other. Not 100% sure. I wonder if Lindsay Paige will write a continual of their story. I hope she doesn't. I like how she ended it, but I wouldn't mind reading more.
Anyways, besides for the boring beginning, I did like this book. It's a cute read and I enjoyed the drama. I enjoyed Jake's and Emily's story and their love. It's a nice read when the summer heat is too hot and you just want to chill by the pool. I wouldn't recommend this to young readers even though it is YA. I would recommend this to lovers of cute romances, drama, and for those that need just a quick read. Out of five stars I grant this 3 stars.
Favorite Character(s): Jake, Drake (even though his appearance was limited), Mike, and Emily Not-so Favorite Character(s): Conrad (unnecessary and smelly, well, I'm not sure if he was really smelly or not) and Sidney Cosby (being a loyal Red Wings fan, my hatred for Cosby most be noted)
There is no doubt in my mind that Jake and Emily are completely compatible characters. The romance is, once again, very sugary sweet, making you root for them and that all turns out well.
I still have some issues though. For one, I really didn't like that the issues in Sweetness were completely dropped in I'm Yours. There is only one mention of Emily's horrendous past in a long, long winded explanation to her ex-boyfriend Conrad. There was also an incident with a snarky character (Claire) that I thought would and should have made a bigger appearance in I'm Yours, but she was silent in one scene. I was curious to see how they would resolve the bullying issue, but there was nothing. Without those teeny references to Sweetness, there really isn't a continuation plot within this series, which isn't always necessary, but I felt that some of the issues could have been further addressed to give the readers a bit more closure.
And just like Sweetness, I felt that the characters didn't go through enough of an emotional struggle as each new curve ball was introduced. I felt that more time could have been spent on that rather than relaying the driving directions that either of the characters were taking. The important little details that I was left craving were replaced by details that didn't pertain to the story or the emotional aspect.
There was also one major thing that I felt was a little embellished, but that I doubt will be glaringly obvious to most readers. It's kind of something you have to go through to even be able to recognize the embellishment, and it was only mildly bothersome.
As with Sweetness, I did enjoy I'm Yours, I just wanted to be drawn into the story more.
Did I enjoy this book: I did. Again, it was a quick read (shorter than Sweetness) and it kept me reading every free chance I had. In fact, I finished this book in a few hours.
This story picks up about 6 months from where Sweetness left off. (I thought Sweetness ended rather abruptly, so I was glad to see the sequel!) You can see that Emily and Jake are even more in love and that Jake wants to make everything alright for Emily. His love for her shines through all of his actions and attention that he gives to Emily. For example, he stays with her for an entire weekend while she has the flu! What teen guy would do that?
When Conrad comes back into the picture, you can see how Emily struggles with what she should do and where her feelings are. Her struggles are real for a lot of girls and that makes this book feel authentic. There is a lot of sex in this book and consequences from having so much sex. How they handle the consequences is the important part.
Again, there are some flaws - proofreading and editing. But, as with Sweetness, they can be easily overlooked and your reading enjoyment is not jeopardized.
Would I recommend it: If you read Sweetness, then be sure to read I'm Yours. However, I would caution that there is quite a bit of sex and some very adult situations. This is not a book for a young YA crowd.
Will I read it again: No, I will not. But I will read other books by this author. I think we have only begun to see what she can do. I can't wait to see how this series ends!
The second installment in the story of Jake and Emily. This book in many ways reminds my of one of my all time favorite lyrics. John Lennon once sang in his amazing song BEAUTIFUL BOY (DARLING BOY), "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." Well in this book that hits Jake and Emily right in the face like cream pies from the cosmic stooges.
In a book that is often even more emotionally wrenching than in SWEETNESS you come to know the players better, and see them grow in love and in life. Once again I do not want to put any spoilers here so I will suffice it to say that I once again found the people and situations to be realistic and believable. In fact Emily reminds me so strongly of my first love that it almost hurts sometimes to read the books.
My biggest critique of this book would be that once again it could use just a touch of polish. Not at all surprising given the youth of the author, and it doesn't detract meaningfully from the strong story-line and even stronger characters.
In summation I will say that I will be buying the third installment on June 13, 2012 when it becomes available. I recommend you read this series too if you are at all interested in quality Young Adult fiction.
SPOILERS AHEAD - READ AT YOUR OWN RISK! Review for both Sweetness and I'm Yours.
I thought both books were good stories and I mostly enjoyed reading them. It was a sweet romance that I think fans of YA will enjoy.
Some critiques: I did think, and maybe this is because I've never been through it (thank God), that Emily's response to being raped was a bit unbelievable. When she started having sex with Jake, she said once she starts, she can't stop having sex and I got the impression that the rapes and emotional abuse were rather recent. It just doesn't seem like the kind of response a recently raped person would have. The books would have been better with out the rapes in it.
Sometimes the conversation felt a little stilted or corny.
There were also a few spelling errors.
In the end, I liked it and I am looking forward to reading book #3, Whatever It Takes, soon! It just came out!
Best part of book: Like Book 1, I enjoyed all the different points of view. I love that Jake's and Emily's relationship has grown so much. It was rocky in the beginning of the book because Emily's ex-boyfriend came back into the picture. Jake was going to have to figure out if Emily really wanted him or Conrad. The twist that came towards the end of the book was the unforeseen (by me anyway).
Not so great part of the book: Like Book 1, I thought it was rushed. I would have like to see some thing played out a little more. However, this book was only a little over 100 pages so I do understand the rush.
Why read this book: It is a wonderful love story. It is great to see two people play off of each others strengths, kindness and watch their relationship blossom.
Finished with this 2nd book of this series. Still love it, even I like the 1st book better. The story is getting more complicated and their relationship is getting more serious. At first, I thought Conrad, Emily's ex was going to become a bug in their relationship, but he didn't. Even he tried to get Emily's heart once again but soon he realized that Emily's heart is belong to Jake.
Finally they slept together and uncarefully for the first time they did it. Emily found herself pregnant. Even they didn't ready for a baby, but they decided to keep the baby. But then Emily having a miscarriage and it devastated her. I can't wait to read the next part. I'm so curious how Jake and Emily can get through it. I'm swoon over Jake at this book. He's everything a girl could ask for from a boyfriend. He's hot, caring, loving and super sweet. Emily is a very damn lucky girl.
I’m Yours is the second book in the Bold As Love series by Lindsay Paige, this carries on from where we left off on Sweetness, Emily and Jake’s relationship. They were in love and inseparable.
Reading this straight after reading Sweetness was brilliant as I could catch up straight away. Emily had come out of herself completely now and was a different person that she was in the first book. Totally changed.
I’m Yours does have a sexual nature to it, however this isn’t graphical and it was written really well nothing vulgar or smutty it was sweet and romantic.
There is a lot of emotion involved in the book too, some happiness and some utter sadness.
Again this is a short book with about 29877 words in all.
A fantastic book and would recommend the series to everyone.
Jake and Emily's story is great. From the first book we pick up months after the pictures are posted at the school... It seems everything has blown over. I won't say much more because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. I'm yours has many different plot twists and the ending is very emotional. One thing I can say is I thought some of the book was very predictable but will not stop me from purchasing the third book because I still could not put my iPad down! While I've read a lot of YA recently I really feel like Lindsay catches the real essence of the YA genre.
The sequel to Sweetness but it didn't quite live up to the first one. I still loved the characters, but I just think it went a little too sexy. Call me a prude, but I am a fan of YA books that are more sweet than slutty.
I missed the little brother Drake in this one, maybe because he was absent for most of it, the book lost its quiet innocence from the first book that I adored.
Through all of my negativity, I am still interested in reading the third in the series.
As the sequel to "Sweetness," "I'm Yours" picks up a few months later with Emily and Jake, their lives so different, but yet better than before. The books escalates with intensity, and drops off with a bit of a choir hanger. When I finished this book, I couldn't (and can't) wait to read the next one. Their life are different in the beginning from the first book, but drastically different by the third. Exciting, happy, sad, and sweet.
I will not be reading the rest of the series at least at this time. I was bored reading the second book, I don't know why just it was boring. I got sick of all the "I love you" in every sentence. Plus I was a little annoyed with a description of every single thing. I need to read something that has more stimulation or substance to it. Maybe I'll come back in the future.
Great book, but it doesn't even compare to "Sweetness", book one of the Bold As Love series. "I'm Yours" kept me interested with what was next for Emily and Jake but it wasn't quite as good as "Sweetness"; it just ended. Hopefully book three will be better. Can't wait to read it :) Lindsay Paige is a great author.
Freebee.... so I didn't realize this book was in a series.. but for jumping in and reading the second book now which makes since... Read the 2nd book first was pretty good, for not knowing what was going on I felt like I could relate to the characters in someway. or another... Sorry but I really don't write long reviews..
I chose this rating because their love was starting to get a little overbearing to me but I loved the different points of views and the conflict. It gets less overbearing near the end as they have other things to focus on. If you liked the previous book you should give this a chance but I honestly wish I hadn't started to waste money on this series by the next book.
