Brad Stone, an Engineer, and Mac McLeish, ex-army, were partners. They set up their construction business in the Caribbean and were enjoying hard work and it's rewards living among the beautiful women and the islands of Barbados, St. Vincent and Trinidad. They'd had tough times in war zones in the middle east and had faced challenges and obstacles in Iraq and the far east but nothing prepared them for the terror and evil that hid in the shadows and destroyed their peace and way of life. What started out as a good deed, a helping hand, turned into a tyranny of lies, deception, stalking and malice in the shape of a beautiful women. Who was she? Where was she really from? What did she want? It became clear, she wanted his body, his money and his soul. She would stop at nothing. She wanted everything. Then, out of nowhere came more trouble, New York gangster trouble, hunting Stone down all over town. It became an ordeal to survive day by day. Looking over his shoulder, checking every dark corner, knowing a killer might be lurking in the shadows. But the worst was yet to come. A terrifying and deadly voodoo curse....he would need to call upon all his resolve and tenacity to survive and the only person that could save him was a master of the occult. He was shot at, robbed, decieved and before the nightmare would end there'd be murder, kidnap and a heart thumping race against the clock to find The Seventh Island and a loved one. There are over 7,000 islands in the Caribbean. Does he make it? you'll have to read it to find out.
After many years in international construction and consultancy around the world, Gregory Stenson has decided to write full time based part of the year in Uk and part in the Caribbean.
THE SEVENTH ISLAND is Greg's debut suspense thriller and it recently reached #7 in Amazon's Top 100 best Seller Suspense Thriller list, and stayed in the top ten for some time.
DEAD MAN'S JUSTICE is Greg's second novel and a sequel to TSI and it is already receiving 5 star reviews.
Greg is already writing thriller number three and has several projects waiting in the wings.
Greg would like to thank each and every buyer/reader and reviewer of his books, it;s what it is all about. He writes to entertain the reader...and hope he achieves that goal.
I am not one to stop reading a book halfway through. However, this one was giving me a headache. It could just be the unformatted version on Kindle. I sure hope so. The story line is a good one, but the more you get it to it, the more jumbled it gets. The characters know things they shouldn't. Things are really explained so you get pretty confused as to what the heck is going on. And the conversations are way too formal to be believed. This, of course, is my personal opinion. If the kinks were to get cleared, I would love to finish reading this book. I just cannot pick my way through trying to wonder how all these characters know things without figuring them out on paper and personally envision this really happening.
When a dog walker finds an injured young woman on a beach with the tide coming in fast, he takes her home to his wife. When the woman wakes, she has no idea who she is.
The novel then winds back in time. Rachel - daughter of a police officer and her brother have an escort business, she’s desperate to make it into something exclusive that will bring the big money rolling in.
The other strand to the novel is Brad & Mac who own a construction company based in the Caribbean.
What started as a good idea, became disjointed and the plot somewhat unbelievable. The conversational narrative needs some work. For me, not enough research or attention to detail sadly.
I'd never read anything from author Gregory Stenson, but saw several rave reviews for his books. "The Seventh Island", is the first in his series of Brad Stone mystery/ thrillers. At just over 430 pages this yarn was a slow moving, and meandering vehicle that needed much higher octane gas to run on. The story as a whole was an okay read, but it didn't grab me enough to really zip through the pages. Starting and stopping was problem getting through this one. As I read this too predictable book, it's gets weary knowing what's going to happen next. The protagonist, Brad Stone is too stiff and about as deep as cardboard. I never really got enough into the book to root for Stone. The Roberta character who was clearly crazy keep the sparks flying throughout. The action scenes and supporting characters weren't thought out very well either. I'm giving, "The Seventh Island", three stars out of a possible five stars. (2.5 stars is spot on). It was at times an enjoyable read. Maybe Gregory Stenson is one of those authors that it takes a couple of his books to really get into. I hope so since I have three more Stenson's books on my Kindle. Although those are going to my back burner for awhile. But, check it out. Maybe you'll find the story better than I did. It's an okay read. Just don't have high expectations for diving into this one.
If you liked the movie, Fatal Attraction, you will thoroughly enjoy reading The Seventh Island. The main characters, “Unknown Caller,” and Brad Stone, will remind you of Glenn Close and Michael Douglas.
The story is full of suspense keeping the reader on pins and needles sharing the tension of the situations. The characters range from white and blue-collar men, thugs from the city, the occult, and of course, beautiful women.
The Seventh Island is in the Caribbean. This setting provides the reader with a beautiful visual for a part of the story where we find ourselves shouting out loud from our own personal book nook.
The ending may or may not seem predictable; nevertheless, I feel it is suited for the author’s purpose, a sequel.
I’m hoping Gregory Stenson is indeed working on a sequel to The Seventh Island. Readers who enjoy this novel will be on pins and needles waiting to read it!
British author Gregory Stenson, writing his first novel, has given readers an excitement-filled story in exotic islands of the Caribbean. Brad Stone and his partner Mac have a successful construction business. Enter a woman who says she is a reporter from a state-side magazine who interviews Brad. But suddenly she overwhelms him with needs that grow into unrealistic, threatening demands. The characters are easy to get to know and all knit together nicely in a fast paced mystery that will surprise you to the end. Look for more great reads from this very creative author.
I really wanted to like this one to support the author. I see from other reviews that several people have loved it, but I have to give up at the 49% point. I was already having trouble following multiple POVs and characters who suddenly knew things they didn't know a moment ago, let alone people who 'fall in love' in what seems like a couple days and one roll in the sack. But the final bell tolls when a major protag is overtaken by a VooDoo spell (no hint of paranormal until that point). Putting him through a witch doctor's ritual was too much for me to maintain suspension of disbelief.
This was a fantastic book - I could not believe this was a deburt novel, this author is a very intelligent writer, his story is full of clever twists and turns, I just could not put it down. The story is set in Trinidad, and is about one man and two beautiful women, its about betrayal, lust, gangsters, you name it this book has it... I totally recommend this book and guarantee you will be hooked and left wanting to read more ny this author. Brilliant and original
I actually could not put this book down ... It's beautifully written , with a great storyline - suspense that keeps you going until the end. Definitely a recommended good read !Well done Greg. I'm looking forward to your next book !!
Conceptually, this is a decent story, but it moves way too slowly. In addition, the editing is so ridiculously poor that it becomes annoying and distracting. I have another Stenson book, but I am hesitant to start it. Overall disappointing.
I absolutely loved this book. I couldn't put it down until I finished it. I loved the characters and all the twists and turns and the mind blowing ending. READ IT.
But the dialogue is awful. There are certain paragraphs of action where this could be a pretty good book. But the dialogue is stilted and not recognizable as any common dialect.
Wow, this Author is good, The Seventh island, book 1, l went straight on to read book 2, before I wrote the review for book 1, which is a thing l have never done, and wanted so badly to find out more about Stone, and his sidekick Mac, brilliant read.
This is a great book with a lot of tension. I love thrillers and this book was a great one. I understand that Mr. Stenson is working on a sequel to this book. I can't wait!
