Pam grew up within earshot of her mother's manual typewriter. Her mother wanted a career she could combine with motherhood and four children, and she made her first sale to Highlights for Children, when her children were in kindergarten. Her mother is the author of 20 romance novels under her own name, Barbara Andrews. Pam majored in journalism in college and later worked as a reporter. Pam married with with Mr. Hanson, a college-professor, and they created a family. Pam teamed up with her mother after the birth of her first child, Erik. They published their books under the pseudonyms Jennifer Drew and Pam Rock. For several years their partnership was long-distance, fueled by high phone bills! They make writing a lot easier these days. So does the fact that mom and daughter share digs in West Virginia, along with Pam Hanson's husband and their two sons, Erik and Andrew. Pam is also the director of advising for West Virginia University’s School of Journalism.
Margaret opens a new gallery, with high hopes but the roof falls in and she has trouble finding someone to fix it. She knows if she can’t sell enough pictures she will have to close in the fall, shattering her dreams. Shelley is still thinking about having a business selling baked goods from her home. The one thing missing in the story is anyone bringing up the need for a license, health inspection, commercial kitchen etc, the only think talked about is making a website to sell them so this seemed odd. Diane is still writing her book. Beverly is worried about her father since the woman cooking for him gets hurt and is exploring the idea of working remotely. There is still the mystery of the lighthouse and the 4 friends do get to see the inside and realize that the light they see can’t come from the equipment there.
This series of books is published by Guideposts, and they are written by various Christian authors. Each story features 4 women friends of various ages and stages who are involved in cozy mysteries surrounding the lighthouse at Marble Cove. They are quick, easy, clean reads that are a nice break from heavier reading. They always feature good spiritual content.
The 4 friends finally get to see the inside of the lighthouse. Margaret's gallery almost goes under, but God answers prayers -- at the last moment/just in time. But what Dan, Shelley's husband is up to is not answered in this book.
Took me forever to actually finish this book as it didn’t grab my attention. You can tell it’s written by two different people but there’s no flow to the switching off. Some parts are repetitive and it seems like it was cause it was written by the other person and they don’t know the details the other added. I feel like they could have cut out 50 pages and actually moved the plot further. Also it is apparently part of a series and having not read the first I probably don’t understand some of the back story but they hint at it repeatedly.
Overall not bad for a book I got from my aunt for free not knowing it was a religious publisher.
This is the third book in the Miracles of Marble Cove cozy mystery series published by Guideposts. I enjoyed the first two books, and although this one moved along at a slower pace, it is still enjoyable. I especially love the Biblical themes and Christian framework in which the story takes place. A lot is going on with several subplots involving different characters, so it is definitely not boring. There are some clues in this book that you shouldn’t miss, if you are also reading the entire series. I recommend this series to everyone who enjoys cozy mysteries.
I am loving this series so far. I enjoy how each book picks up from the last one and starts a new mystery that is connected to the past stories. The characters are a nice blend of ages and stages of life. Can't wait to start the next one
So many better written books out there... I'll pass on other books by these authors. Lots of problems with plot, continuity, pacing... and unresolved conflicts, let alone repetition of ideas.
I am really loving this series and the characters The stories build on each other and each book is like meeting old friends and enjoying the great relationship they have
I love reading about what these 4 ladies can discover in their little town. The lighthouse is a mystery because of them seeing the light from it. When they get into the lighthouse, there is lots of dust and no way anyone could be up there because of the looks of the inside of the lighthouse. They always seem to have a mystery to them. How they can help the ships out at sea. How the light must be on all of the time, as an in case... I love lighthouses. All the different shapes, and the colors that they are.
