Simms Taback was an American writer, graphic artist, and illustrator of more than 35 books. He won the 2000 Caldecott Medal for U.S. picture book illustration, recognizing Joseph Had a Little Overcoat, and was a runner-up in 1998 for There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly.

Creepy illustrations, but Linden made me read it twice. She enjoyed turning the flaps.

Natalie didn't seem to care for the flaps in this book. I think they looked too much like the rest of the page for her to understand the flap. The illustrations were okay. Nice variety in the animals. Not sure I agree with the pairing of a penguin and a seal / sea lion though.
