This gift book, published in 1974, compiles quotes and passages about friendship from over the years. They're mostly platitudes and often religious, but still, it's an enlightening if unexciting insight into light reading from half a century ago.
It's important to me, though, because my grandmother received this book from a dear friend after the death of her brother in 1986. It's nice to see which passages she highlighted with her pen as particularly meaningful to her, such as, "Birth gives us our relatives, but choice gives us our friends." In the margin, she simply wrote, "True."
