A Different Diamond

Rate this book
Brooke Conrad is on top of the world. She is the star shortstop for her high school’s softball team, and it is one of the best teams in the state. But everything changes overnight when the shortstop for the school’s baseball team gets kicked out of school, and the baseball coach asks Brooke to take his place for the season. Brooke has never heard of anything so ridiculous – a girl playing on a baseball team, with boys? Can it even be done? Her dad scoffs at the idea and will hear nothing of it. Her softball teammates, however, encourage her to give it a try, and they point out that if she does, she’ll be teammates with eleven of the cutest boys at school. Brooke agrees to do it, but instantly doubts whether she made the right decision. The boys don’t want her on the team, and she questions whether she’s good enough to play baseball at all. But she doesn’t give up, and she decides she needs to prove something. She needs to prove she is good enough to play baseball – to her dad, to the boys, and most importantly, to herself. A Different Diamond is the first book in Jody Studdard's 'Softball Star' series. It is also offered in a compilation (Softball Star).

I really liked this book because it was about softball. There aren't many softball books so when I found this I was pretty excited because I could relate. There are a lot more books about fastpitch softball in this series. I really recommend this book if you play fastpitch travel softball. It is really fun to read about because I could imagine that it is my team because a lot of the players in the books are like my teammates. Again, this book was really good and i recomend it.

This is a fun book for tweens and teens. Like all of the Softball Star series, it is a quick, easy read, and it is filled with softball and baseball action. The parts I liked the most however are the parts about Brooke and the two boys she likes (Jamie and Alex). I couldn't wait to see who she ended up with at the end.

This book is not just for softball fans. It has lots of other stuff, including a love triangle with Brooke and two of the hottest boys on her team. I couldn't wait to find out who she would end up with. Teen girls will like this story.

This book is great. It shows how amazing girls can be, if they are given a chance. It was inspired by the girl on the cover, who is a fastpitch player from Seattle.
