Very entertaining book, very well written and with excellent characters. Unfortunately, the plot is based on unrealistic technology.

I haven’t read all of this series but really like the brave and humble lead character, Lexi. This can be read on it’s own, plenty of background provided in the story. As a vet she came home with a disability that won’t hold her back. She’s on her second attempt at a honeymoon with her wife, Nita. For his safety, they’ve brought along Lexi’s newly widowed dad. The beauty and tranquility of the Sierra Foothills is disrupted when Lexi’s skills are again pulling her away from her loved ones to her job. There’s a bomb-strapped man at a bank with hostages. Lexi is the nearest Federal ATF Agent. She soon begins to think her old enemy, the Raven, is up to new plots to get to her attention.
There is one senator who will stop at nothing to advance his legislation. A highly destructive weapon with new technology is before a senate arms committee. The high-tech military weapon was designed by a very wealthy man who wants to see the contract awarded to his company. National security and lives are at stake along with millions. Soon the Raven’s threats accelerate to top security clearance levels. The pace and continuous dangers ramp up and you’ll race through the pages like I did to see who’s left standing. This was another heart racing, breath holding, action filled thriller that I highly recommend.
A digital advance reader copy of “Remote” Lexi Mills #5, by Brian Shea and Stacy Lynn Miller, Severn River Publishing, was provided by NetGalley. These are all my own honest personal thoughts and opinions given voluntarily without compensation.

I received an ARC tthrough "Severn River Publishing" and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This story begins with Lexi and Nita along with Lexi's father on their honeymoon at a resort. Lexi has left strict orders that she is not to be disturbed unless there is a major emergency. It seems like the honeymoon was not to be since Lexi receives a call about at robbery at the bank where a bomb is in play and she is the only one close enough to disarm it. Lexi agrees and goes to the scene. On Lexi arrival and examination at the scenes she sees something wrong and there is more to it. She suspects that there is another person that has a remote which will detonate the bomb and she devises a plan to contain it. The plan works and she then goes into the bank and disarms the bomb. Later that same day, a senator's chief of staff is killed and a review of evidence leads to the possibility of "The Raven" being involved and as a result, Lexi gets involved.

As Lexi and her team look into what is going on, there is a realization that there is more involved than just a bombing. The indications later lead Lexi to believe that there could be an attempt on POTUS as well.

To discover what measures and who was involved that Lexi took in traking down those responsible as well as learning what "The Raven's" role in this exercise was, then you need to read this book. The events leading up to the conclusion will blow your mind.

This is definitely a book that you need to read, don't miss out.

Remote by Brian Shea, Stacy Lynn Miller is a recommended thriller and the fifth book in the Lexi Mills series.

A senator's aide is killed in a car crash and pieces of a mysterious object are found in the wreckage. At the same time ATF Agent Lexi Mills is called away from her honeymoon to defuse a bomb in an active bank robbery. Evidence is found at both scenes that indicate the Raven is back. The Raven is not only back, but he has cutting edge technology he is using in a controversial high-tech weapon. As they investigate it becomes clear that Lexi and Nathan Croft, her partner, need to use all their training and intelligence to stop the Raven's nefarious plans.

The plot moves at a fast pace and is full of twists and surprises. It is centered around a frightening new technology that has been developed - a drone resembling an insect/fly named the Locust. This small innocuous looking drone is capable of killing its targets.

It's important in this case to take note that this is book number five in the series because it really matters. Fans and followers of the series will likely enjoy this installment much more and rate it higher than I did as they have experience with the characters. Because I didn't have any backstory or history with the main characters, I never felt a connection to them. This is important in Remote because their personal lives are a major part of the narrative.

This is the Author's 5th book featuring former Army "Vet" now ATF Agent Lexi Mills . In my opinion reading the previous books , whilst not necessary , would benefit the reader in understanding the characters and their motivations .
The Raven is back .......... he has provided vital assistance in the development of a new "Locust" - an insect like drone capable of killing its targets . The developers hard sell to the Government has to date failed to get a DoD contract ....... he will do anything to gain the contract , even murder anyone who stands in his way - right up the President .
Lexi has finally been able to take her honeymoon with new wife Nita , with her recently widowed father in tow .
But a call to save people being held hostage by a man wearing a bomb vest is set to disrupt her honeymoon .
Clues gained at the scene allows Lexi to link the case to the Raven , a man who has a vendetta against Lexi .
When a local cop links a murder of a Senator's chief aide to an insect like drone Lexi is soon drawn into a fight to find the developer ............ can they save others in the developers sights before its too late ? will the Raven be finally caught ? Betrayal is all around - who will survive !

This is a fast paced thriller , full of twists and turns , an entertaining read .

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Remote is the story of an ATF agent, Lexi Mills, who is an expert bomb defuser with an arch-enemy. The Raven has vexed her in the past, and is not likely to leave her alone in the present.

A mysterious car crash killing a senator’s aide, a bomb in a bank, and another death, this time of a powerful politician, have Lexi, her partner Noah Black and local Detective Jan Hopkins, chasing clues and piecing together evidence that points to a sinister high tech threat.

Lexi is a very likable heroine. Her prosthetic leg and a wife make her, as far as I know, pretty unique among fictional federal agents. A black female US president also adds diversity to the story. The authors’ tendency to criticize the goings on in Washington D.C. leaves no doubt as some of their political views and is also very relevant in in today’s world.

This is the first I have read in this series. Even though Remote is #5, it stands very well on its own. References to past events are not enough to make me think I was missing something and just enough to make me want to read earlier books in the series. This is a high octane adventure that will keep the pages turning past your bedtime.

I received an advance copy from the publisher. My review is my own opinion.

This latest offering in the Lexi Mills thriller series is without a doubt the best yet!

Brian Shea and Stacy Lynn Miller have done an excellent job creating a cast of characters who reveal more of themselves with each new episode, making them more likeable as well as more relatable. Each character has their flaws, strengths, and weaknesses, however each of these things is what makes the series addicting. Of course, in each episode there is no lack of action, intrigue, occasional romance, and a few adult occurrences, and Remote has all of these and more. If you are a fan of Lexi Mills this is a must read, if you are new to this series and thinking of jumping in with this book, sure you could, but maybe you would be better served starting with Fuze and working your way up to Remote. One you start you aren’t going to want to stop until you have devoured all five books. I received an advance Reader Copy of Remote from the publisher and chose to provide my honest review.

Remote (Lexi Mills Book 5), my fourteenth read from author Brian Christopher Shea and the fifth in the Lexi Mills ATF series. Outstanding fiction, well-written with characters & plot you can buy into with unexpected twists & turns. Shea is a master character creator. Those who like Lee Child's Jack Reacher will be drawn to Lexi Mills. I look forward to Flashpoint (Lexi Mills Book 6), when it's published in December “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

This was my first book by Brian Shea.
It will also be my last.
The book had great potential but was just mediocre for me.
Pro's:
Solid story and developed characters.
Con's: Too many references of the relationship demographics, and too many graphic scenes throughout the story that could have been cut back or entirely eliminated.
Graphic scenes are really not necessary unless you're putting out an 'adult' themed book.
This was supposed to be a 'Suspense' book.
NOT a romance/chicklit story.

A good series, good plot, and learning more about the characters in this story.
Darryl is an aide for Senator Jackson, a private meeting at his remote cabin.
Then killed in a mysterious accident after leaving in this remote area.
Lexi is called out to a bank robbery to defuse a bomb.
Both seemed to indicated conspiracy, and with military weapons, a contract now before the senate committee, to be award to a company.
High tension as we try to figure out, who is behind it, well do e and enjoyed.

This is a well written series with entertaining storylines. It isn’t necessary to have read previous books in the series to enjoy this installment, but as with many series, there is a better understanding of the characters and their motivations if the series is read from the beginning. There is bit too much emphasis on the romantic relationship in the series in my opinion. It does play a role in the storyline and does present a softer side of Lexi’s character, but does also create a distraction from the overall suspense.

Deadly Drones

When an aide to a senator has an accident after visiting a reclusive billionaire, it was found out that it was no accident. Was it the work of the Raven? Lexi is once again up for a deadly confrontation with the Raven and a prominent person is his target. His weapons are killer drones. A nail biting thriller which had me on the edge of my seat. A well crafted page turner with interesting characters and surprising twists.

I really love this series. Each book is better than the last. I am addicted to Lexi Mills. This book is phenomenal. The Raven has returned in this book, and he means business. When the aide to an influential senator is killed in a mysterious car crash things start happening. Not long after Lexi is called away from her honeymoon to help defuse a bomb. Things just get more intense and exciting from there. Definite must read !!

Remote is fast-paced and full of action, it has a great plot and opens our imagination to an unbelievable threat if a drone like the one described in this book comes true. Lexi continues to be keen to be in action and help people and uses her sharp mind to join the dots and discover the perils awaiting those she vowed to protect.
I thank the authors and their publisher for the copy of this book.

Exciting thriller with a top-notch heroine

I absolutely enjoyed reading this page turner of a thriller! I only read book 5, and yet you do not need to start at book 1 to appreciate this series. But now that I have read this book, I find myself wanting to delve more into Agent Lexi Mills and her back story. Don't hesitate to read this or any book in this series!

Remote is the fifth book in the Lexi Mills saga. Much improved over the previous books with greater concentration on the mystery and its resolution through memorable characters and less on her family dynamics

Flies, locusts, bombs, an interrupted honeymoon lead Lexi on her most dangerous mission yet. The characters shine and the plot is brilliant. Write on Mr. Shea - you can do no wrong.
Highly Recommended.

Once again Lexi is on the job even though she’s on her honeymoon. Lexi and her partner have to diffuse a bomb. Time is running out and there’s danger involved. Will they be able to save the day in time. Suspenseful.

Wow

Once again Shea and Miller wrote a great, fast paced book. Each chapter gets you hooked a little more and by the time you get near the end you just can't stop. Can't wait to read the next adventure that Lexi Mills ends up having.

The Raven has a new toy—a tiny drone disguised as a large fly that can detonate remotely, killing anyone in its path. And he’s looking forward to using it on ATF Agent Lexi Mills and the President of the United States.

This fast-paced terrorist thriller had me on edge from start to finish. I especially liked President Meghan Brindle. I’d like to see a series just on her!

Thank you @NetGalley and @SevernRiverPublishing for the advanced copy of this book.

Fantastic Book!! One of the best, in the terrific series. Lexi is called away from her honeymoon to disarm a bomb at a bank hostage situation. Meanwhile, there was an accident which looks to be connected to the Raven. This starts a couple of very busy days following the leads to discover a new weapon which Falcon Industries has developed with the Raven’s help, Locust. Falcon wants a contract with the US military for Locust technology. It is a game changer but if in the wrong hands would be impossible to defend against. Is it killing people now?? Non-stop action as Lexi and Nathan follow the leads. Looking forward to many other Lexi adventures. Great characters and well written. Thanks!

The Raven is back, causing havoc and plotting murder.

Lexi is pulled away from vacation, an overdue honeymoon, in order to help and investigate a threat, when she's almost hurt. Clues lead her to think it's the Raven, and her honeymoon is soon mostly forgotten as she tries to figure out his next moves.

Each book in this series is thrilling and suspenseful, with a small romantic element. The stories are interesting to read, and draw you in. I look forward to the next one!
