What do you get when you combine a magic lamp, a flying carpet, a beautiful princess, and a young man who wants to be a prince? Disney's Aladdin! All the fun and adventure of the hit movie is retold in the classic Little Golden Book.
Aside from reading, theatre is one of my biggest passions. I love the atmosphere and I love how brilliantly an instant in time or an emotion can be captured on the stage. There’s just something so real behind it despite the fact it’s all performance.
Aladdin is one of my favourite musicals because it’s all feel-good. There’s no sadness or tragedy. There’s no death or despair. It’s just warm and fluffy. It’s a bit naïve in a way, but when you come away from such a play it can only leave you feeling happy. I watched Aladdin today in London and I bought this too. Certainly a day well spent!
It's a quick little book, more suited for children (or big children) who want a memento from a fantastic musical.
This is a book that I read in my childhood, so along with all of the others that I have placed on here I am placing this 1 too. I don't think I liked it as a kid though.

I loved all these Disney books when I was a little kid and today I woke up and said to myself why not reread them! I will always stand by my opinion that you're never too old for kid's books! Aladdin always has been and always will be one of the most popular Disney stories ever and I consider it a brilliant idea making the story into a kid's book to get children away from the tv screens just for a while :D
Presqu’aussi bien que le dessin animé qui est à mon sens un des meilleurs Disney ! Superbe histoire, super personnage, même le tapis volant est un personnage à lui seul!!! J’adore ce livre ❤️
The story is set in the fictional kingdom of Agrabah. It begins with Jafar, the Sultan’s advisor attempting to steal a magic lamp from the Cave of Wonders. He learns that only one person is worthy of entering the cave. The next day, Jasmine, the princess of Agrabah escapes the palace and explores the marketplace in disguise. A villager named Aladdin helps her get out of trouble after she is caught stealing an apple from a vendor. Jafar finds out that Aladdin is the sole person worthy of entering the Cave Wonders. Jafar takes Aladdin to the cave and instructs him to only touch the lamp, but his monkey, Abu, touches a jewel. The cave collapses and traps Aladdin and Abu. A genie appears out of the lamp that grants three wishes. Aladdin wishes to be a prince so he can marry Jasmine and goes to the palace to seek her hand in marriage. She falls in love with him as soon as she realizes he is the boy from the marketplace. Jafar tries to drown Aladdin because he wants to marry Jasmine, and the Genie saves Aladdin. Jafar steals the lamp, and Aladdin tricks him into wishing to become a genie. Jafar doesn’t realize that he will be trapped in his lamp. Aladdin uses his last wish to free the Genie.
This book could be used to explore the issue of social class. Aladdin and the villagers in Agrabah were poor, while Jasmine and her father lived lavishly in a palace. Jasmine’s luxurious clothing and jewelry starkly contrasted Aladdin’s worn vest and patched pants. Jasmine was expected to marry a prince, and Aladdin felt that he needed to become one to woo her. In the end, Jasmine loved Aladdin even though he was poor, and her father changed the law so that Jasmine could marry whoever she chose.
Aladdin’s courage and perseverance were valued in the book, and in the end, he was granted a better life. Aladdin’s story is the central narrative, while other characters’ stories are overshadowed. Jasmine is the other main character, but she mainly serves as his love interest. Her thoughts about the kingdom and how it is being run are not explored. The villagers are illustrated but don’t play a part in the story. It is apparent that the kingdom’s subjects are not well-off, and I feel that incorporating their struggles would have improved the book. There also must have been servants at the palace, but they are not mentioned in the story. At the end of the book, Aladdin rises out of poverty when he marries Jasmine, but it is never told what happened to the rest of the kingdom. I would have liked to see Aladdin and Jasmine work together to alleviate the poverty in Agrabah and make it a better place for their subjects. Overall, I enjoyed the story, but I would have appreciated it more had it not just centered on Aladdin.
Aladdin by Don Ferguson is placed under the genre Children Literature as a fantasy. It is intended for the audience ages three to six years. This story is about a poor boy named Aladdin and a Princess named Jasmine’s journey. Aladdin hoping to one day be rich so he’ll never have to steal again, and Jasmine hoping to one day marry for love. This story contains lots of magic and mystery. I rated Aladdin five stars because of the incredible use of language, imagery, characters, and the dramatic plot. This story is an enchanting journey with lots of magic altering the rise and fall of the plot. This book would appeal to young readers because of the use of magic and the characters - a princess and prince. Younger readers, especially girls enjoy stories with romance – Aladdin and Jasmine fall in love. Young readers, especially boys enjoy stories with action – Aladdin fighting evil magic, saving Jasmine and her father from evil Jafar. This fantasy encourages divergent thinking – encouraging young readers to enjoy the book while allowing them to compare the difference of what’s fantasy and what’s real. Aladdin keeps young readers engaged and on the edge of their seats. I absolutely loved this story as a child!
I've had this book since I was very little and now I'm reading it, as well as other Disney stories like it, to my teenage sister for fun. I'm really enjoying revisiting these books. They basically retell the stories presented in the films, but with some alternate/slightly altered dialogue. This is also a fun way to experience these beloved classics without watching the entire movie if you don't have the time to sit for an hour and a half to two hours.
I'll probably revisit these several hundred more times.
5/25 60min 7 word summary aladdin poor alone find lamp three wish
if your dreams come true, what would you hope?? well, if I can,,,,,,I want to be freedom!! haha and then I want to go around and visit europe !!! I'm really interested in their culture!! so I wanna go there!!!
actually, before I read this book, I watched its movie!! therefore, it was really easy to read. I really like this story!!
96 pages of full-page colored images telling the story of Disney's Aladdin. The story was right on except for a few minor changes to the actual characters' speech. Was a delight to read through, used to own several of these as a kid.
Love children's books, but most likely the classic stories will be my favorite ones. Honestly is my first time reading the book, but I have seen all the movies and cartoon that they were ever made about Aladdin. We all know the story of Aladdin, how he got to the palace and ended up with Jasmine ( i am very bad with names but I will never forget his name or hers). Reading this book when we have the genie introduced to us , I got very sad because , it brought beautiful memories with Robbie Williams being the voice for it ( I swear even if he was not the main character I feel he was the most important one).
Quick read, entertaining , and just perfect for the junior readers.
It was alright not great or good. Jasmine has to marry a prince before next birthday and her dad is put under spell to make her marry this other guy but in the end she marries Aladdin the other dude he gets turned into a Genie forever and has to live in a bottle.
Her dad change the law where she didn't have to marry a prince she marry the person she wanted to which was Aladdin. Aladdin set the Genie free his last wish.
No es realmente esta edición, pero de la que hablo es una adaptación de la película a modo "cuento" con los bocetos originales que se utilizaron para la película de animación. Una pequeña joya que todo fan de Disney y de Aladdin debería tener.
Disney's Little Golden Books are treasures to read. The Illustrations made the story more fun and with a salton, a magic lamp, a genie, a princess --- what could be more fun. This is a good introduction of Aladdin to little ones!
One of the flagship stories of 1001 Arabian Nights is joyously retold by Disney in this magnificent children' book with superb full-page illustrations. The Book Club series is dated but never outdated. Recommended for 6-8 y/o.
Another of my old kids books. This was okay, it's very obviously meant for kids and there isn't much for anyone else here. A very bare bones cliff notes-esque retelling of the movie.
5 out of 5? Nope, this is the thing which is absolutely priceless. This comic is a folktale, I often heard about it in my childhood. From my parents, friends, relatives and others. A masterpiece. Must read for people. Whatever he likes to read books or not.
