Nancy was born in Los Altos, California, and her family settled for a time in Walnut Creek. Her father, who taught at Stanford, joined the navy and the family traveled throughout California and lived in Japan for three years. When she was sixteen, she dropped out of high school to become a ballet dancer in Cologne, Germany, and later relocated to Frankfurt Am Main.

After reading:
I hate this book. I hate it with such a passion that I want to burn it, take some of its DNA, clone it, then burn all of the clones to use a kindling for the rest of my existence, and then pass it to my children who can pass in onto theirs so they can also use it to fuel their fires to the end of their days.
Yeah, I honestly detest the book that much. Right off the bat, then, let me give you one of the special little gems that Holder stabbed me with cruelly and painfully oh so graciously bestowed upon me:
Cordelia’s entire demeanor changed. She lifted her chin and squared her shoulders, as if she was proud of what she was going to say. Then a cloud passed over her face,and she exhaled long and hard.
I know that Holder probably meant something along the lines of, "her face clouded over," or, "a cloud of indecision passed over her face," but because she doesn't use that verb tense and uses absolutely no descriptive terms whatsoever, the only way we rational humans and the laws of grammar and conjugations demand that we take it is that a cloud literally passed over her fucking face. Not a cloud's shadow, not fog, a whole fucking cloud, people.
First off, that's just straight up impossible; considering the setting of this scene between our MC and her "friend" is indoors. And even if they weren't inside, it's impossible for an entire cloud to do that, and unless ( spoiler alert, people because the cover and synopsis weren't obvious enough *eye roll*) werewolves have a new power that allows them to fly miles into the air, then that possibility would also never happen.
And since we're talking about this quote already, Cordelia is just about the worst "friend" that I've ever read in a novel. We're supposed to believe that she's some beautiful, exotic, peppy and amazing girl, but they are almost never used as our main descriptors of her through Unleashed. This is how her looks are described the first time:
A tall, slender girl with shoulder-length auburn hair, dark blue eyes, and perfect movie-star looks stood, organized her belongings, and flashed her a kind smile.
However, the rest of the time this is all I get when it come to Cordelia's descriptives:
she was pale and was moving slowly.
she suddenly looked pale
said with a smile, but her voice sounded a little strained.
Cordelia looked positively green.
Then, she's fake:
Cordelia’s eagerness seemed forced.....
Cordelia’s face fell. Then, just as abruptly, she smiled her fake smile again.
"Oh. Uh-huh,” Cordelia said, obviously forcing enthusiasm.
Basically what I'm trying to say here, Holder, is just because you one time write about how beautiful a girl is won't matter if, the rest of the damn time, you talk about how weak, manipulative, and fake the the exact same character is, then that's how I'm going to always see her. Not as some strong, beautiful, bullshit-rejecting, awesome chick, but a weak, fake, and a wuss. She is so huge of a wuss, in fact, that she leaves Katelyn without even a second glance to fend for herself with her deranged father not that I minded, of course. I hope Katelyn dies a horrible death.
What? I didn't say anything.....
Then we have Katelyn, who has got to be the most poorly written girl protagonist that I have ever read. Yes, even worse than Bethany; she may have been a brainless, idiotic, and incredibly self-centered, but at least I know that she was written that way, albeit accidentally and horribly. Adornetto just didn't know anything about how the world really works, and what relationships are and are not okay. Katelyn and Holder? She's a victim of a writer who doesn't know jack shit anything involving writing, and that's just about the worst kind of author a person can get. We get very little info to her backstory besides she likes to dance, she has one friend back in Cali (who isn't much of a "bestie" she stops talking to her after the first week), and we know that her mom died in a fire, but Holder has her shut down about anything emotional before she even allows Katelyn time to think about it. What are we left with, then, if we get no emotional attachments? A shell of a character, that's what; with all of the undesirable traits highlighted. She's always interrupting a conversation with others or even herself with comments that left me dumbstruck:
“Trick,” Ed said in greeting. Was his name Trick, or was he playing a trick?
“You know the rules, Dr. M.,” he said. “You have to invite me in.”
“You have to be invited in?” Katelyn asked. “So, what? Are you a vampire?”
Eugh. Reminder for the next set of quotes with "in greeting" It is obviously his name/nickname if he is greeted that way. Who in the hell would walk up to someone and greet them by saying Trick unless it's actually their name?
“You missed supper,” Ed told him as he led the way toward the fireplace.
“Didn’t cook the bird?” the guy asked.
“It’ll spoil.”
“Wait,” Katelyn said. “Is your name really Trick?”
Bleh. And also note that the bolded part of "the guy" quote is to let you all know that it has already been introduced to Katelyn and us, the audience, that his name is Trick, but Katelyn so adamantly refuses to believe that, even with all of the evidence, that she calls him the fucking guy. Bleh again.
Ed snorted. “Tough guy. That’s the sort of talk landed you in hot water.”
He shook his head, looking suddenly serious. “Lies landed me in hot water.”
“If you had a lick of sense, you’d stick with your own kind and leave them boys alone.”
Katelyn’s eyes widened. His own kind? It was obvious Trick wasn’t completely Caucasian. Could that be what her grandfather was referring to? Was Ed a racist?
..........
Oh my God I think my head is going to explode from all of this stupidity.
Seriously; how old is Katelyn? Four? How naive and stupid can one girl be?! And the worst part about her obvious empty-headedness is that she's so adamant that she's above everyone in her knowledge, and keeps on remarking that she's moving to "hick town." She thinks that she's so much more intelligent that everyone else, but it's kind of obvious from just those juicy little tidbits that I showed you she clearly isn't. Saying that her grandfather, a man that she has known for many years, is racist just because he told a guy that he's obviously close friends with that he should stick more, "to his own kind?" in a way that was quite obviously showing that Ed was concerned for Trick's health? And Holder, through Katelyn, has some of the most confusing descriptions of a guy that I've ever seen. This is the descriptions of one of the love interests (yes that means there's a love triangle. I'll get to that, as well). Let me remind you that he's supposed to be asian and russian and african american
"his oddly colored green eyes were light against his cocoa-colored skin. They were almond-shaped, and his cheekbones were high, giving him hollows in his cheeks. He had a square jaw and a nice, wide mouth.
So he has the coloring of an African American and the bone structure and eye-shape of an Asian.
is was obvious Trick wasn’t completely Caucasian.
Now he isn't that dark.
She was mildly surprised that he wasn’t Native American or something.
Now he's Native American?
“Actually, it’s Vladimir, but no one has called me that in forever.”
“My last name’s Sokolov,” he said. “Russian.”
“Are you from Russia?”
"Nope."
Do I even need to say anything else, here?
Oh, and here's one little gem that should describe this guy's whole personality:
“Just FYI, Kat, I’m not androgynous.”
“My name’s not Kat,” she replied, hiding her own smile.
“It is now."
And the plot? I'm not even going to bother with a description of the plot because there wasn't one. At all. I knew what was going to happen from the very first page, and everything was so plainly obvious that you could almost see Holder making some kind of bullet points about how she wanted the book to go and just adding words around it. Nothing shocked me, nothing made me think that Holder was in any way clever; if anything, it just annoyed me half to death. It was so basic and rudimentary that it was nonexistent. She might as well have not even written the damn thing. It didn't do anything to help this book; if anything, it was harmed because of this lack of plot.
Oh, and the last horrible and awkward thing that this book presented me that I will talk about, anyways, is its "love triangle" I say "love triangle" because I suppose that it was going to be a love triangle, maybe even a decent one (as far as a "decent" love triangle can be) somewhere down the line, but it just ended up being confusing and damned painful. It ended up being more like a love......blob. First, Katelyn meets the first love interest, bastard Trick, and it goes like this:
Trick: Hey, I'm an Asian/African American/Native American/Russian; I'm kind of in a severe identity crisis. Watch as I seductively take of my boots. You know what they say about a man's feet in proportion to other things........
Trick: *takes off his boots to reveal......feet...... with socks on them!*
Katelyn: OHMIGAWD THAT'S SO WRONG YOU'RE SHOWING ME YOUR FEET!?!?!?
Trick: Yeah. I'm so kewl.
Ed: Hey, bud! I've missed you; do you want to have some dinner? You should stop being upfront, though. Stick with your kind more!
Katelyn: OHMIGAWD THAT'S SO WRONG YOU'RE A RACIST, GRANDPA!
Ed: Herp de derp.
Katelyn: Okay, goodbye!
Trick: Bye, babe. Oh, and by the way, your name is Kat, not Katelyn now.
Katelyn: Okay!
Katelyn: .........I think I'm in love.
Trick: Hey, I knew this one kid who was friends with this one girl that I know who knew this one guy who was dating this one girl and she died and I'm all sad about it, so I'm deep! I also have this thing where I'm mysterious so I may or may not be a werewolf but it's never told in this book so it gives me an added air of awesome! Go to a party with me!
Ed: As long as you bring her home safe! My granddaughter is important to me!
Katelyn: Ignore him, Trick, he's racist. Okay, mah lurrrveeee!
Trick: *ignores Katelyn at the party*
Katelyn: Hey......Trick....
Trick: *continues to ignore Katelyn at the party*
Katelyn: Trick....maybe you could just.....
Trick: *ignores her again*
Katelyn: maybe you could just stop ignoring me?
Trick: OHMIGAWD YOU'RE SO ANNOYING I'VE BEEN PAYING ATTENTION TO YOU THIS WHOLE TIME!!1 DRIVE YOURSELF HOME!
Katelyn: I'm so horrible!
Then, we have Justin, who makes Katelyn stop being a chaste wuss and turns her into, well, a whore.
Justin: Hey. I'm sooooo hawt.
Katelyn: I think I'm in lust. *stares deeply into his eyes and almost starts to kiss him*
Cordelia: GO HOME KATELYN! I'M SICKLY AND IN EMOTIONAL DISTRESS SO GO AWAY!
Katelyn: Oh.....right.....home....
Justin: *drops by Katelyn's house* Get on my motorcycle.
Katelyn: Alright!
Justin: Start making out with me even though you've only known me for two minutes.
Katelyn: Alright! *shoves her tongue down his throat*
Justin: Byeeeeeeeeee!
Katelyn: Byeeeeee!
Cordelia later: He has had a girlfriend for two years.
Katelyn: OHMIGAWD I'M SO HORRIBLE!
Katelyn: I just kissed Trick, the man I love, and he left me again. I obviously did something wrong. WHAAAAA! *runs into Justin* Oh, hey, Justin. I just wanted to tell you that you're such a man-who-
Justin: Make out with me.
Katelyn: Like, okayyyyyyy!
Justin: Byyyyeeeeee! I'm going to have sex with my girlfriend, now!
Katelyn: Byeeeeeeeee!..... OHMIGAWD I DID IT AGAIN!
Katelyn: *whines* Who do I pickkkk? I'm so physically attracted to both of them! One left me to die from a wolf attack, and the other uses me as his extra when he doesn't get all he wants from his girlfriend! Help me, Caitlin!

I don't give a fuck about her, I don't give a fuck about anyone from this book; hell, I don't give a fuck about this book. I will never pick up this book for the rest of my existence, and don't even start me on the next one. I'm still debating wether or not I can stop heddesking myself....
She remembered that Arkansas was landlocked and for a moment a deep panic shuddered through her as she imagined herself on a map of the United States, trapped inside a box of land.
She's scared of land? And even worse she compares the whole state of Arkansas to a box of land?! It's not even square!!

Did I read that right? This one part, in the synopsis?

I.....I think that they meant this:
" the total opposite of the lust-crazed psychotic fuckery of Twilight and the epic failure of Fallen"
Yeah, I think that that's what they meant, because if I'm wrong and that's true.... we're in for a hell of a bumpy ride.

I don't give a fuck about her, I don't give a fuck about anyone from this book; hell, I don't give a fuck about this book. I will never pick up this book for the rest of my existence, and don't even start me on the next one. I'm still debating wether or not I can stop heddesking myself....
She remembered that Arkansas was landlocked and for a moment a deep panic shuddered through her as she imagined herself on a map of the United States, trapped inside a box of land.
She's scared of land? And even worse she compares the whole state of Arkansas to a box of land?! It's not even square!!

Did I read that right? This one part, in the synopsis?
"new trilogy with the passion of Twilight and the grandeur of Fallen."
I.....I think that they meant this:
" the total opposite of the lust-crazed psychotic fuckery of Twilight and the epic failure of Fallen"
Yeah, I think that that's what they meant, because if I'm wrong and that's true.... we're in for a hell of a bumpy ride.
......I'm kind of scared now. More like terrified, really.

If I would rate Unleashed on the story itself it would have gotten more praise, but I can't do that now can I? I had my share of problems with the characters and their actions that inadvertently caused me to get a bit of a mixed feeling about the book as a whole.
It all starts with Katelyn. Katelyn's mom has just died and, with her dad not in the picture, she is forced to move to Wolf Springs: A middle of nowhere town with no cell phone service or internet connection (can you believe?). She soon learns that there is something in the woods that has been killing people. Classmates to be exact. What does she do with this information? She goes on a bike ride in the woods at night with a guy she just met, and then when she gets a flat miles in a deserted road, she doesn't think twice about going out and changing the tire herself. We've all seen our shares of horror movies, Katelyn- she would definitely be the girl who runs up the stairs. As a reader who likes her characters intelligent and strong, I was never able to connect with her and often found myself shaking my head at the decisions she took.
The romance in the book is cute and helps fill up the slow pace, however I didn't feel any sort of chemistry between the characters. We have the pre-requisite love triangle with Justin and Trick, though I didn't want to root for either of them. For one, Justin has a girlfriend (o_O) and Trick I don't trust. There seems to be something off with him. He definitely has secrets. In that sense, he does make a good mysterious character that I can't help but want to find out more about.
When you read the book/series title, it's no mystery what kind of paranormal story we're getting into. Nonetheless, there are still a few interesting twists that I didn't see coming. Unleashed is more of an introduction and setup for the series. We only get a glimpse of the main plot and most of our questions are left unanswered which some may find underwhelming. Regardless of the issues I have with the characters, I find myself curious enough to give next installment a try, especially after that cliffhanger ending!

Ok. I loved this book. I finished reading it a couple of days ago, and find myself thinking, "I can't wait to get home and read more of UNLEASHED." Then I remember I'm done with it, and I get sad. It's been quite a while since I've read a werewolf book, and I just think that I was really in the mood for this, and it didn't disappoint me at all.
I recently read Nancy and Debbie's other series, Crusade, and loved those books as well, but Unleashed has a very different feel to it than the Crusade series. Although both books are dark, Unleashed is much more thrilling and suspenseful. I would also say that it isn't as mature as Crusade. I think, where Crusade might be hard for some to get into, Unleashed will be an easier read. Personally, I loved both styles, and this book has secured the fact that I will eagerly read anything that Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie write.
Katelyn is not what I would call a "strong" female. She's a vegetarian from California, who cries a lot, gets scared easily, and is seriously afraid of guns.....and the stuffed animal heads on her grandfather's walls. But, while this normally bothers me, and turns me off of the story, it really didn't this time. I still liked Katelyn. I think it's because you can see the journey that she's making, and the way she's growing as a person. Plus, she's pretty funny, and witty. And even though she's often scared, doesn't make the smartest choices (STAY IN THE CAR!!!), and cries a little more than I care for, she still dusts herself off, and gets back up and tries again. And by the end, there are some very interesting developments, that force her into changing the way she feels.....about everything.
There's also some pretty intense romance in this one. Yes, there is a love triangle, and I know that some of you out there are getting tired of that, but I have to say, I loved it. When Katelyn moves to town, she meets Trick, who is funny and sweet and gorgeous, and just all around yummy. They start having feelings for each other, and I just hold my breath every time they're together, hoping they will kiss already!! Then there's Justin. Something happens to Katelyn and Justin every time they're together, and they can't seem to keep their hands off each other, and neither of them know why. I have my suspicions, but I guess I'll have to wait until the next books to find out if I'm right.
Unleashed is full of action, suspense, intensity, romance, mystery, monsters, and freaky men with drums trying to find their "inner wolf." If you are a fan of paranormal romance, I think this is a book you will devour! I know I did!

Every town has its secrets. In wolf springs they're just a little darker.
What an amazing first book to a compelling new series! Ahhhhhhhh! I want more, more, more, MORE!
Katelyn McBride is uprooted from her California world when her mother's life is tragically taken by an earthquake. Relocating to Wolf Springs Arkansas, to live with a Grandfather she barely knows, out in the middle of "bango land" forest, Kat's ambitions, dreams, and future are completely turned upside down.
When two girls Kat's age are unexplainable killed, ... Kat's Grandfather forbids her to go out after dark and eventually teaches her how to fire a riffle. If that wasn't odd enough, a Motivational speaker moves into the area bringing all kinds of freaks with him, teaching them to tap into their "inner wolf". But their drum beating, howling shenanigans, aren't the only things that disrupt Kat's sleep. Her never ending nightmares of her parents, the earthquake, and an ominous wolf haunt her every night.
Reluctantly, Kat falls into a routine, makes new friends, gets driven to school by a tall, dark, and handsome Russian cowboy (who'd a guessed?), gets magnetically pulled in by a mysterious, not to mention, GORGEOUS cousin of her new best-friend, and makes an enemy out of some dude with a major chip on his shoulder.
As she starts working on a project for her history class, Kat quickly realizes how reluctant people are to talk about, and how difficult it is to uncover, the hidden secrets of Wolf Springs. Ultimately, determination gets Kat into a situation that can't be fixed. She wants more than anything to reach out to her cowboy Casanova for comfort and help, ... but that would without a doubt, get her killed.
The ending of this book is a fast paced thrill ride that will keep your heart pumping as you devour each and every word! It's sequel seriously can NOT be released soon enough!
I highly encourage anyone with a love for the supernatural/paranormal wolf literary world, to join Kat on her journey to uncover the hidden identity of Wolf Springs, and watch as Kat's new identity ... is UNLEASHED .

'Who do you run with?'
Another take on the girl moves to a small remote town with mysterious attractive men, murders and the super natural.
Wolf Spring's plot differs from books such as twilight, fallen and finding sky in that Katelyn looses both of her parents in different ways and has to move in with her more recently estranged grandfather.
I really enjoyed the werewolf aspect of the story. There isn't a lot of books, that I've read where the supernatural creature is limited to just a werewolf. I've read plenty of vampire and angel books though. Plus there is the legend of the Hellhound whom I definitely think exists.
Of course a love triangle is created between Kat, Trick and Justin. I'm definitely team Trick out of the two of them. I do think there's something mysterious that we do not know about him though.
I did like Cordelia's character although I did find her slightly annoying at times but it is understandable as she does face some serious family issues within the book. She did do quite a poor job of pretending to be normal though but as I say family issues and hellhound fears are probably going to be prioritised over trying to be happy with everything.
I hope the next instalment will also give some more background into grandad Mordecai and into the wolf seminar guy; I think they've both got things to hide as well.

this was a good read but there were just loads of things that annoyed me about this book!
this is not really a spoiler alert so dont worry:
1 at the start all katelyn goes on about is gymnastics then once she moves its like its completely forgotten about!!
2 i did not understand what was going on with justin! i dont think the author explained it well and it was even more confusing for me cause i loved trick!! so i didnt understand what she saw in justin!!
3 near the end it felt like the story was dragging on!! this really ruined the plot as well cause i think the author tries to leave it on a cliffhanger but for me it was more like "Oh Thats the end". i felt that the story just more or less stopped dead!
4 when the girls are doing there history project it really annoyed the hell out of me that they couldnt even decided what they doing it on! i think i was 3/4 into the book and they were still going on about it!! it bored the hell out of me and was dragged on far too long! I was metally screaming "just pick one!!!"
but if you want a nice quick, light read then sure read this!

This book was so overwritten. While it's nice to picture the surroundings, the book was so bogged down with details that I just really struggled to get through it. Every little thing was described to the T, and every description was really dragged out like the howling wind or the clicking claws. And there was one detail that just bugged me.
When I wasn't falling asleep on the imagery, I was annoyed with the characters and their actions. I'm sorry, but when someone says, "Don't get out of the car for ANY reason," that means, don't get out of the damn car - for ANY reason! I just hate it when dumb characters go jumping into the fire. They're totally asking for it. And the scary scenes? How cliche can you get?
And the relationships in this book. I don't understand Katelyn's deal. And I don't mind instalove, but she has this immediate, deep attraction for two guys. I liked Trick, but I don't know what his deal is. And I don't understand Justin's deal.
Now, I understand the need for building the story for the big reveal, but I didn't find out what's going on until the last quarter or so. I mean, yeah, I had an idea of what's going on because the title was a dead giveaway, and I've read enough about to know. But Kaitlyn was left in the dark until the last part of the book. I mean, come on. It was just too frustrating.
And there was a lot that was not answered in the book. I've already mentioned my questions about the two boys. But there is so much more I want to know. And even the smaller, almost forgotten details - like Mike's involvement in the whole thing or even the wolf campers. I have so many, many more, but I'm going to assume that Holder is leaving it for future books. I hope she addresses them all.
The end did leave you in suspense, but I think it just added to my frustration. Overall, I just didn't think I had a very enjoyable experience reading this book, and I'm curious to know what's going to happen next, but I'm not sure I can sit through another session if the sequel is going to be anything like the first.

December 29, 2015Quite enjoyed this book and looking forward to the next one. I met Nancy and Debbie in Miami and they were delightful. You all know how I love the cliffhanger endings and this one has a doozy! =)I really liked the twist of adding silver to a werewolf book and look forward to discovering more of the mystery of the silver mine and the hellhound.

Katelyn's parents died, she had to go live with her grandad in the middle of fucking nowhere and she's feeling sorry for herself.
Meh.
She meets Cordelia, a girl that's suddenly her best friend but in literally every description of her she is described as "fake" and "hiding something" so I'm not buying this friendship. Worst friend ever.
Meh.
There is Trick, the love interest, who could have potential, but NONE of his mysteries are solved in his book - why is he friends with the grandad, why is he cool with playing taxi driver for Kat, why is he so fucking rich, why did he get arrested, why did he get set up, why is he so upset about a random girl dying without the author explaining their relationship whatsoever? Okay, maybe these things are explained in the sequels, but that's not really how a series works. You can't have all of the build up and set up in the first book and have everything explained in the next ones. Throw some conclusions in there!
Yeh, meh.

And finally, Kat. I could not give less of a fuck about her.

You know the book sucks when they can't even get a quote from some random author. This isn't a film. "From the publishers", does not mean the same thing as "from the makers/directors of." We all know that publishers don't write the books. You can have the best editors in the world but if the book is written by two crap authors, it's still gonna be crap.
The book has no plot. The characters are bland. There is no tension, no pace. There is no background to any of the characters. Kat has to deal with some serious personal drama, but instead of dealing with it she conveniently shoves it away so that the author doesn't have to deal with a deep, emotional character, who reads like a real person, with interesting flaws.
The book has two authors, yet it reads like half an author casually typed this out one afternoon without giving a second thought to plot, characters or tension.
Like, I can't even be bothered to get angry about how bad this book was. I was just super bored.
So there.

This is a classic paranormal read! It's dark, thrilling and one I quickly devoured. I've read a lot of enjoyable wolf books this year, and this one is definitely at the top of my list. Nancy and Debbie's enticing blend of mystery, suspense, passion, love and loyalty made for a story that was hard to put down. This was an action packed read that had me on edge the whole time. Well, I shouldn't say on edge the whole time, because there's some intense romantic scenes had me swooning instead of wanting to bite my nails. There's a rich history with both the legend, and the town's residents who for generation's have protected the secrets that lie within the borders of their secluded, wooded town. I liked that the wolf lore in this story comes from the Fenrir lore, and even the Fenner Family in this story pay tribute to that.
Katelyn isn't as strong of a character as I pictured her to be, but I'm thinking she's a character who's going to grow into one as the series continues. I'm looking forward to seeing her progression as the story continues. Normally I'd find her emotional side, being scared of everything, and not making the brightest decisions annoying, I found her to be an enduring character. She's at times funny. I couldn't blame for feeling the way she does since she's been uprooted from the life she's known for 17 yrs. Not to mention all the weird things that start happening to her once she comes to Wolf Springs. Luckily she's got her gun wielding Grandfather, Trick, the hotty that drives her to school each day and a few other characters who help her start to adjust to her new life, sort of.
There's something about her Grandfather and Trick that leaves me suspicious of who or what they really are. They're very protective of Katelyn and keep her in the dark about a lot of things that are going on. I adore the romance that grows between Trick and Katelyn. Trick's that all around great guy who's funny, always there for you and isn't afraid of anything. I love their chemistry together. Then there's Justin, the piercing blue eyed hot bad boy that rides a motorcycle. When ever he and Katelyn are around each other sparks start flying, but there's something about their chemistry that leaves me suspicious about why that is. I know love triangles are over done right now, but this one is refreshing.

There's an entire cast of characters who's motives aren't quite clear, and it was hard for me to figure out who can be trusted, who's lying and who the "Big Bad Wolf" is. Having so many suspects and not having any real leads made for an incredible mystery that kept me invested in this story. Being that this is first book in the Wolf Spring Chronicles series allowed Nancy and Debbie to leave a lot questions unanswered, because I'm now completely immersed with this story. I have to know who's behind the murders, I want to know what some of the secrets are, and what's going to happen with a few of the characters. Being kept in the dark worked well for this story, and even though some plot twists are revealed, there's still a lot of secrets that are kept when this book ends. Speaking of the ending, I loved it! It literally ends at the end of a scene, leading me to think the sequel will pick up exactly where Unleashed ends.
If you're a fan of paranormal books with a lot of action, romance and mystery, I highly recommend picking this book up. Unleashed will leave you wanting more. There is some mild violence, mild sensual scenes, mild language, and an underage party/drinking scene. This is a book I'd recommend to YA readers 14 yrs & older

I really, really liked this book! I got my hands on an ARC through work and decided to give it a try. I was impressed with how much I enjoyed it, (despite the typos). :P
Katelyn is a 16-year-old girl living in SoCal, enjoying her life as a dancer/gymnast, when her mother dies in a house fire. Suddenly orphaned (her father died years earlier), she is sent to live with her paternal grandfather in the small town of Wolf Springs, AR. There she meets not one, but two very attractive guys her age that she is drawn to, one of them in an almost animalistic fashion. She also becomes good friends with one of the more popular, but also quite odd, girls of the school. The town is quaint, but the surrounding forested areas are fairly dark and scary, and her grandfather's rule about not going out into the forest at night seems more and more reasonable to Kat she learns that a local girl died recently while out in the forest alone. When another girl is killed in a particularly gruesome manner a few weeks later, and Kat herself has a couple of run-ins with what appears to be a very large & scary wolf, she starts to wonder just what is going on in this town.
I gotta say the book reminded me of the Twilight series right off the bat, but in a GOOD way. It has similar elements - teen girl relocates to small town, life becomes much more circumscribed, meets a couple of cute boys & feels more drawn to one than the other, weird stuff is happening & she has to figure out what is going on. However, it did not follow the exact same pattern, and had plenty of originality in the plot and the characters.
First off, the main character, Kat, isn't quite as dreary as Bella, and any melancholy she demonstrates is totally understandable due to her mother's death. Second, she's actually attracted to both of the cute guys in the story, as opposed to being completely & utterly devoted to one, while just friends with the other. The love triangle is much more interesting here! Also, I liked that her friendship with another girl was a primary relationship and actually received more attention that interactions with either of the boys.
The best part? The mystery of what's going on around Wolf Springs. It's central to the plot, driving it forward and holding the reader's interest. The authors do an excellent job of keeping your attention without revealing too much or making you feel like they're holding your hand and explaining every little thing.
Now, don't get me wrong - I loved Twilight and still do. I just think that this book makes for a really good, authentic read-alike that also totally stands on it's own. It's not a watered-down, formulaic copycat riding on another book's coattails. I will be recommending this to all my teens who are paranormal romance fans.
My one complaint? It ends on a total cliffhanger! And since I read an ARC, I have to wait that much longer for the next installment. Oh, the bittersweet pain!

I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book before I started reading it because I am not a huge fan of werewolves.
I have to say though that I am glad that I gave it a chance! I notice that I tend to love books that I was iffy about in the beginning.
This book had everything for me. Great characters, great plot, great setting, mystery, romance, thriller.
The writing was great and I couldn't tell when the authors were switching off.
The MC, Katelyn, moves in with her grandfather, in the middle of nowhere, after her mother dies in a housefire. Of course Katelyn isn't too keen on the idea at first, but figures that she only has another 12-14mo before she is going off to college so she tries to make the best of it.
Making friends at her new school is just like making friends at any school and I liked that she didn't automatically end up with the popular girls. In fact, I don't even know who the popular girls were.
I also liked the fact that Kat (as she is also called throughout the book) is just trying to fit in. She isn't trying too hard and she doesn't appear phony in anyway.
Right from the time she arrives at her grandfathers she is told to never go outside after dark. There are dangers in the woods. Of course, you should already know what those dangers are because of the title of the book....or do you?
So Katelyn is always with someone after dark...until one time she isn't and something happens.
The way that the authors played out what happens after that incident was perfect. It was paced perfectly and the suspense was great!
We find out things that we may have already suspected and some things that we may not have. But there are still things left unsaid, which is fine, since this is only book one.
What I loved about this book also is that there were not wolves running all over. We knew they existed but they didn't dominate the book, although the book is clearly about them. It was if we are learning about some folklore.
Which, the authors also did a great job building the main werewolf pack. The whole 'family' dynamic. How everyone interacted and who was who.
The ending was great. It ended answering some questions, but not all of them. And it also left us with a new and intriguing question.
There are some characters in the book, like Kat's main love interest, who we know stuff about but I feel as if there are things we are not being told and I am dying to find out how he plays more deeply into this story.
I also feel as if her Grandfather knows more then he is letting on.
Cannot wait for the next book!

Hmm, maybe I'm feeling 2.5ish. This one takes a little too long to get down to the business of supernatural romance. Get the werewolf bite or family curse or whatever rolling already, I was thinking. Then when I was facing the last page, I could only say, "huh?" Rip off, No sense of even temporary resolution. Cliff-hanger I'm not willing to cling to. I think I'd rather plummet.
Okay, all that's not to say the Twilight, Shiver, Nightshade army won't read it. They probably will, without complaint. Lots of opportunity for spooky and menacing atmosphere building is unrealized. Events that seem to be called for don't ever occur. Too much seems to be waiting for exploration in later episodes. It has franchise written all over it, never even tries to stand on its own two feet as a story.
Love triangle of sort, of course: Justin, gotta be a werewolf, makes new girl orphan living with grandpa all aquiver versus Trick, the emo drama type who still looks good with his shirt off and whom her grandfather trusts to drive her to school and keep her safe from unnamed horrors.
At least Katelyn (Kat) gets to turn into something scary herself rather than just French kiss the not human lotharios when she discovers firsthand the secret werewolf community of Wolf Springs, Arkansas. Why don't she and new friend Cordelia actually go out into the woods and search for the legendary silver mine they chose as the topic of their local history project? Why isn't there more going on with the new age get-in-touch-with your-inner wolf guru and camp that drums and howls in the woods? Why aren't people more terrified after two girls are killed brutally in the woods? Lots of questions, too many to make this a "GOOD" book for me. I think it will still be fairly popular, Kat doesn't suspect that the bite of a wolf smart enough to give her a flat tire equates with were-ism, but any quarter-savvy reader will know what's coming and wonder why it took so bloody long to get here.

About 15% in, and I'm surprised how unlikeable our MC is. She's from LA and portrayed as a selfish, shallow teenager who looks down on the small town and wants to go back home. She's very judgmental, examining clothes of other students on her very first day and tries to label everyone and decide if they're popular. Kat asks very stupid questions when she first arrives at her grandfather's home, and her mentions her highlight of moving away is a good-looking boy. I'm going to keep reading and hope she becomes more likable...

Our MC is still a shallow cow and is quick to insult people and call them weird and still desperately clings to her LA life which she claims is SO much better. I think this book attempts to come of as mysterious and spooky with all the warnings from different characters. We're also supposed to be scared by the dark surroundings and the weird sounds at night. Everything, including the dialogue and characters and the MC are all forced; it's all starting to seem so silly that you can't help roll your eyes or think WTH is this. What is the author trying to do and why is our MC so dumb, and nothing makes sense. The attraction between characters are once again contrived and unrealistic. Going into specifics takes too much energy and time which I'm not willing to waste. I am at the point where I'm about to hurl the book out the window.

WTH... when does the next book come out? :/ whaaaaaaat I don't even have an inkling of what will happen next :3
anyway, I've got to admit there was a little too much crying than i would have liked but her mother died so I guess it's fair. Kat's an okay character, I didn't feel she developed aLOT but she does turn from being 'ergg ohmigawd I wanna go back home' to 'ahh well its life' (kind of).
I liked Cordelia, I thought she was brave and helpful, but I hated that she hid so much from Kat, I got frustrated when I knew she was hiding something, and her sisters are total biaaaatches, I wanted to punch the living daylights out of them :@.
Trick was nice. He makes you smile and I liked Kats growing relationship with him, all sweet and fuzzy. And yes, I guess I am trying to like Trick more than Justin because I have a feeling she'll end up with Trick :(.
I have nothing against Trick, its just that I have a BIG thing for Justin on a motorcycle. All holy hell comes to town with a bad boy on a motorcycle and it attracts me!! (he's not exactly bad boy/ guess I mean dangeroussssly sexxxy) I don't know why he and Kat are insanely attracted to each other like that, but I'm hoping his character is developed more and we get to see Kat falling in love.

So this is my--- Second? Third? Maybe..? Reading this book. And I really enjoyed it. The main reason why I re-read this book is because I needed a re fresher sense I got the third and final book from the library. (At least I think it's the final and last book..) And so here we are, yet again. Writing a review about this book. And if I have to say so I think this one is turning out to be waaaay better then the last one. Seeing as Even though I gave it four out of five stars the last time the review wasn't all that good or well thought out. So I'm liking this one a whole lot better. And I have to say, that I did honestly like this book. I like the charters and how they grow over the leight of the book and even into the next book which I just started this morning. And for anyone that's read this or wants to and doesn't know the name of the second one it's Hot Blooded. Sooo looked forward to getting further into that one as well.
Would I suggest this to anyone? Sure! You like Werewolves? Mystery? Young Adult Fiction? Then hell yeah! This is the book for you.

I really wanted to like this book. I mean I've been searching for a really good Vampire or Werewolf book for a really long time because apparently that's not cool to write about in YA anymore, so when I saw I had this on my TBR bookcase I immediately grabbed it and began reading, but was soon sadly let down by the story.
This was not a girl meets boy/werewolf story that so often happens in YA. This was a never-ending rambling of the town's mystery of wolves and its crazy characters. Cordelia - OMG! She was such a nutjob. Like let me grab a box of tissues so she can sob about how tragic her family situation is. Then there is her cousin Justin who reminds me a bit of a Vampire with his seduction thing with Katelyn, but really he's a wolf. Katelyn's Grandfather is so mysterious with his rules and regulations. Trick and Katelyn are the only characters who seemed a bit normal.
I guess I was just looking for a simple series of girl meets boy/vampire/werewolf drama ensues. I mean I love those books! Why is it not cool to write about them anymore?

I'm so bummed I didn't love this one! The cover and title lured me in, and even though it sat on my shelf for years I figured it would be a great read when I got around to it. There was a lot of promise here, but unfortunately it didn't live up to it. The plot was annoyingly predictable and the characters were flat to the point I didn't really care much what happened. And it was beyond frustrating how naive and fickle Katelyn was, I just didn't like her at all.

There’s something that I noticed whilst reading this one and I think I knew it for quite a while, but it just came to the forefront of my mind this time around. One of the things unique about their writing is how the story is carried. The majority of it is held firmly aloft by the actual dialogue in the story. Now that may not seem like a truly surprising feat, but really….think about it. In today’s Young Adult genre, things generally go one of two ways; either the author creates a world so fantastical it’s hard to believe, or they step into a future version of our own world with realistic enhancements. These authors stay firmly planted in the present and let the story build out of the characters alone….with much success. After all, there’s no need for extensive world building when you have all you need right here and let’s not forget that it makes it all the more real when you can identify with what the characters are seeing, going through, or where they’re at. Anywho, I believe I made my point…moving on….
Characters! Oh those crazy beautiful character…no really! Most are pretty faces, but there’s a lot more there too. Let’s see, hottie number 1: Trick; the Romanian-esque speaking, cowboy boot wearing, smoking in a oh-my-let-me-just-gaze-at-you-a-minute-longer sorta way. He’s definitely hiding something which is a no-no if you’re going to get anywhere with the girl of interest, but despite the reputation he has, acts the gentleman…for the most part (hey, even Prince Charming was a jerk sometimes I’m sure). Hottie number 2: Justin; the equally sculpted, relative of her newbie best friend Cordelia, with eyes that could penetrate your soul, and enough magnetism to draw the Earth’s core. He’s got that bad boy thing going for him and is hiding something just as much as the other “man” in question….but with heat like that, he’s hard to resist despite any wrong doings. Ah yes, so many guys…so big a decision to make….which leads me to our main character, Katelyn.
Katelyn has been through heck and high water with losing her Dad a while back and now, the death of her Mom. Now, let’s say we ship her off to Arkansas away from everything else she knew and loved to live with a Grandfather she’s barely ever seen and expect her to be peachy-keen. Umm, yeah….not so much. She DOES her best considering the circumstances…..she even comes to like her knew home to a certain degree, if only she could stop being attacked by woodland creatures, and gain a little freedom because really does she need to be home before dark EVERY night? Let’s just say that her Grandfather has good reasons for what he asks (though I’m curious if he will ever verbatim say why)…reasons she finds out in good time on her own and through means she’ll possibly live to forget (not possibly forget….possibly live as in may not…you’ll have to read it to find out). Thankfully she has her new bestie Cordelia to help her out, right? Not exactly. It seems she’s hiding things too and they aren’t exactly what you might think either.
Now as mentioned with the two hotties previously, there is obviously a romance angle to the story. The best way I can describe it without giving too much away is this….it totally fit the song “Love Me, Love Me” by Big Time Rush (whose recent CD happens to be in my car…I totally blame my coworker for introducing me to it). There’s energy, indecision, desire and passion all palpable straight off the page…and yet still demure enough to be a teen friendly read, albeit mid to older teens and beyond. *le sigh*

Katelyn's mother dies suddenly, and she is sent to live with her grandfather in Wolf Springs. Living in a house in the woods, she feels isolated and yearns for her home in L.A. She fears that she'll never achieve her dreams now, stuck in this little town.
Her life is about to get a lot more complicated. Everything from the town's name to the legends of the Hellhound seem to involve wolves, and her grandfather refuses to allow her to go in the woods alone. Two girls die in the woods, seemingly mauled by an animal, and after her own terrifying encounter with a wolf on the road, Katelyn isn't sure what to think.
I can't say much else without giving some important details away....so forgive my vague descriptions.
I was not expecting to enjoy this book so much. I thought it would be a typical young adult paranormal story, with a love triangle and some issues with a supernatural hierarchy and maybe a bit of hocus-pocus thrown in. I was right about a few things, but this book still stood out in a positive way.
I was right about the love triangle. It's fairly tame compared to those in other young adult paranormal romances, but it's still there. It didn't particularly bother me, except that her attraction to the one guy, Justin, seemed really immature? She basically doesn't think around him for the first while. It's like she can't control herself. That really annoyed me. Meanwhile her feelings for Trick seemed a lot more genuine, and I liked him too! So it wasn't entirely a bad thing.
I was also right that there would be some issues revolving around a supernatural hierarchy. Again, I can't say much without giving anything away, but within the werewolf pack that Katelyn eventually comes across, there are issues with the alpha. I actually didn't mind this part either, because the issues weren't like those typically dealt with in books concerning werewolf packs. There was something added and unique to it....
I took issue with the pacing of the book. It wasn't horrible by any means, but a lot of the more explicitly paranormal stuff started after the second half, and well into the fourth quarter, which made the first bit drag on quite a bit. It also made the ending seem a bit rushed.
I certainly would like to read the next book. There are questions still unanswered, and Katelyn was, while sometimes annoying, a pretty nice protagonist. The writing style didn't stand out as either amazing nor terrible, so it's really the story that makes this book a four star read.
Overall, while this isn't anything too special, there are definitely unique elements throughout the story that make it stand apart from other young adult paranormal books. While the love triangle was a bit irritating at times, the ending left me wondering what would happen next.
I recommend this to those who love werewolf stories. If you're interested in books that take place in small towns with big secrets, you might want to give this one a try.

Unleashed was my first book by this author duo Nancy Holder & Debbie Viguie, I know right? Can you believe it! And after reading it I can honestly say I didn’t love it but I did enjoy it.
Katelyn McBride lost her dad at a young age so she doesn’t expect to lose her mother years later, leaving her with no choice but to move to the middle of nowhere to live with her grandfather. Katelyn hates having to leave her friends and school and she is definitely not looking forward to starting over in Wolf Springs, but when she’s there things starts to pick up….however it doesn’t last long when she finds out teenagers are being killed in the woods. Wolf Springs has secrets, secrets that have been hidden through out centuries and Katelyn finds herself at the centre of them.
When I started Unleashed I have to admit, our main character Katelyn or Kat as she goes by in Wolf Springs really annoyed me. I understood her situation and my heart when out for her losing her mother and especially having to move to a new place but she really did annoy me. I found her whiney and I didn’t like the fact that she never really gives her grandfather the benefit of the doubt, but despite this as the story progress’s I actually started enjoying her as a character. She did a complete turn around. When she becomes friends with mysterious Trick, I really enjoyed the qualities they bought out in each other. Their time together was flirty and fun and it was just what I needed in the story. But when Katelyn is introduced to Cordelia’s cousin Justin, I was instantly taken by him…he had such a presences in the book and I was eager to find out more. But if you asked me if I’m Team Trick or Team Justin….I honestly couldn’t answer at this stage.
The secrets that Wolf Springs hold gave the story a certain enjoyable twist to it and it was pretty easy to spot that the Fenners are at the centre of the problems. Cordelia’s father was a horrid man and I’ve never wanted to slap someone like him before. He’s mean…just plain mean and nasty! There were also a few shockers to the storyline especially involving Katelyn and I have to say…I didn’t expect it not so soon into the story. I didn’t but it was definitely a good twist.
I have to warn you there is a cliff-hanger at the end. Was it good? It was okay…nothing really major in my opinion and I think it could be easily solved in the next book. I guess I’m kind of hoping the authors do something major to start off with for book two, just to keep it unpredictable but what I also didn’t like was the Twilight comparisons. Yes I do love Twilight….its one of my favourite but I don’t wish to read it done over by different authors. I want something original and I believe this series can be original.
All in all, Unleashed was a good start to an exciting series, one I will look forward to continuing in the near future.

First Thoughts: PHENOMENAL! I want to turn around and re-read this book over, and over, and over!
Nancy & Debbie are such a dynamic writing team! So when I was offered the chance to review Unleashed I had to jump on it! Boy was I glad that I did too.
You initially meet Katelyn, or Kat, in a dream full of acrobatics & fire. Suddenly she awakens to her mother trying to pull her from her home that's full of flames & smoke.
With everything she held dear gone, including her mother, Katelyn has to move to friggin' BFE Arkansas to live with her grandfather...boring!
Here's another case of, "New Girl Syndrome", happening. Though she's not badly teased or made fun of, she can tell things in Wolf Springs are off. Then when she's befriended by Cordelia, who's gorgeous and sweet, my fraud censor went up instantly! Thank goodness I was wrong. She is actually written as a fabulous character who adds so much to Kat's life in Wolf Springs. I mean if you count living in a cabin, in the woods, unable to go out at night, a life?
Hold on, I feel like I'm jumping ahead slightly. Backtrack a little...
There's this incredibly yummy piece of work, his name is Trick (remember that), and man does he notch things up. He's mysterious, hot, brave, yummy, hot, sweet, and did I mention hot? Behind all that, mmmmmm, there's something deeper. You know it's there, and I for one want to know SO badly what it is. Next book, I know it'll be there! (it better be there, lol).
There's obvious chemistry between Trick & Kat, but it's like Trick is bi-polar (or has a secret) and freaks the hell out. Regardless their relationship is hawt!
As the book develops Kat starts uncovering a boat load of ancient myths that haunt Wolf Springs and the families that live there. I mean some majorly weird stuff, from Were's to Hellhounds, it's actually really fun to read about the old folklore.
So when Kat encounters something mysterious she turns to her best friend, Cordelia, for answers. Quick as her world was normal it starts snowballing out of control. And I mean, SNOW-BALL-ING! With things out of control, an unlikely hero steps up to help her straighten her head out, and possibly her heart. Let's just say, I thought trick was hawt this guy, in my mind, would run circles around him. Muscles, leather, motorcycles and gorgeous eyes!
If you haven't picked up Unleashed I highly recommend it, and by highly I mean buy it now! It left me begging for more and practically crying for book #2!

I didn't hate the book. I thought the story has a lot of potential. However, it's the protagonist that made me want to throw the book out of the window.
I actually liked her at first; with her dreams of dancing and performing for Cirque de Soleil. Once she got to Wolf Springs, she just basically threw her dream away. She could have just said "Oh, since I'm probably going to be stuck here forever, might as well give up now." Not only that, I didn't feel any connection to her after. She ran away every time she comes face to face with a problem. It's either she gets in her car and drive away, or locks herself up in her room. And she comes running whenever she's near Justin.
And don't even talk about Justin. Ugh. He annoyed me. Trick I can put up with, though he annoyed me too. Trick, at least, has some chemistry with Katelyn. Justin, all he does is suck face with her every time they see each other. There's no sparks or whatsoever between them at all. At the end, he told her to "stay away from him" when he's the one that initiates everything. All the while, Katelyn actually has feelings for him. I mean, are you kidding me!!?
So that's that. I hate all the main characters, but I find the not-so-important ones interesting, like Mike and Beau, and that one dude with his retreat up in the mountain.
I think I will read the 2nd book once it comes out. I might dislike the characters, but I find the plot really compelling. It's mysterious...I'm just dying to know what marked Katelyn. In the next book, I hope there will be a swoon-worthy guy, unlike the other two. And I hope Katelyn can finally stand up for herself, instead of bowing her head all the time.

I'd give this a 3.75-4 Star rating.
This is not a book I would normally read, not much into werewolves. But I think this book may have introduced me to a new genre!
Katelyn has to relocate from Sunny Santa Monica California to the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas to live with her estranged Grandpa after the death of her mother. She has to give up dance, the beaches and her friends to live with a man she really doesn't know that well as well as live in the middle of the woods with no neighbors in site. The one saving grace is she gets a ride to school everyday with a good looking boy named Trick who she is instantly attracted to.
School is tough for the new girl in a small town until she is befriend by Cordelia. But Cordelia seems to have some secrets that Kat can't figure out. And why does she have the unusual urge to throw herself at Cordelia's cousin Justin every time she sees him? And why is her grandpa so adamant she be home before dark and to not go into the woods? Is it because 2 of the towns girls end up dead, possibly mauled by an animal or just that Wolf Springs has too many dangerous secrets he wants to protect Kat from.
After reading the first book I still have a lot of unanswered questions. Is Trick hiding something? I think so...just don't know what yet. What the hell is up with Justin? And does Kat's Grandpa know what's going on in Wolf Springs? And why do I think there's more to Jack Bronson and his inner wolf retreats than meets the eye? I like that there is a lot to figure out still, it keeps my interest up but it is also confusing I wish the first book hadn't left so many questions up in the air.
But hopefully my questions will be answered in the second book, which I'm really looking forward to reading.

Overall I liked this story enough to complete it and I'll probably stick around for the next book in the series. I'm curious to see where this one goes because it takes a few turns I didn't expect which is always nice.
What I'd like to see more of in the next book is stronger characters. I thought Kat was fine, on par with her personality and dialogue but I felt Cordelia was underwhelming and uninteresting. Trick was okay, I'd like to see more from him, Justin was intriguing and I'm definitely tuning in to see how his bad boy persona evolves but the character I'm most intrigued by is kat's grandpa, Mordecai. With a name like that and his extensive animals collection, I know there's more to him than meets the eye and I can't wait to find out more!
I particularly enjoyed the world building and scenery descriptions. I could easily and vividly see the Wolf Springs town described again and again and the surrounding forest. I think the authors did an amazing job really creating a new character out of that forest. I wouldn't dare step foot in it!
Readers who are annoyed by the number of unanswered questions, remember this is the first in a series so just keep that in mind!!!
I give it three and a half stars, it'll change probably once the second book comes out, hopefully going up!

I particularly enjoyed the world building and scenery descriptions. I could easily and vividly see the Wolf Springs town described again and again and the surrounding forest. I think the authors did an amazing job really creating a new character out of that forest. I wouldn't dare step foot in it!
Readers who are annoyed by the number of unanswered questions, remember this is the first in a series so just keep that in mind!!!
I give it three and a half stars, it'll change probably once the second book comes out, hopefully going up!

In order for a story to be truly suspenseful, the reader needs to care about the characters. The only character that remotely interests me is Kaitlyn's grandfather. He has some mystery about him but is more whole and "real" than anyone else in the book. I'd like to hear this story from his point of view. Everyone else is petulant, angry, crazy or just a confused teenager without redeeming qualities. Ms. Holder, you posed too many questions and don't even provide partial answers to keep your readers interested. Who is Trick and why is he special? Is Cordelia just a wolfish Cinderella with two evil sisters? She's not near strong enough to be her Daddy's favorite and the next potential pack leader.
I still don't understand why Cordelia hates Trick so much and by the end of the story don' t really care anymore. I've read several werewolf stories lately and all all of them did a better job of explaining the secret world within a our world than this book. Maybe it needs a stronger editor?

Ok so how do I start ?
Well, I did not like this book. Actually, I strongly disliked it.
It was so pathetic.
The main character Katelyn loses her mom and is forced to move in with her grandpa who lives in the middle of a freaking forest.
Throughout the whole book she pretty much acts as spoilt. She made me want to pull my own hair.
She talks about how her she misses her mom but seriously I couldn't feel a single emotion for her.
I found it really hard to connect with her. She is rude and well I hated her.
The love interests were as bad as her. Not the kind that make you want to swoon or anything. They make you want to puke.
I don't really like to read books when they are written in the 3rd person but I didn't know this was in the 3rd person.
Of course, I didn't finish the book so I don't really know anything about the ending. I didn't even get to the part about werewolves.
Huge disappointment for me and I won't bother picking up the next books.
